THE STABILITY OF THE CRITICAL POINTS OF THE GENERALIZED GAUSE TYPE PREDATOR-PREY FISHERY MODELS WITH PROPORTIONAL HARVESTING AND TIME DELAY

In the marine ecosystem, the time delay or lag may occur in the predator response function, which measures the rate of capture of prey by a predator. This is because, when the growth of the prey population is null at the time delay period, the predator’s growth is affected by its population and prey population densities only after the time delay period. Therefore, the generalized Gause type predator-prey fishery models with a selective proportional harvesting rate of fish and time lag in the Holling type II predator response function are proposed to simulate and solve the population dynamical problem. From the mathematical analysis of the models, a certain dimension of time delays in the predator response or reaction function can change originally stable non-trivial critical points to unstable ones. This is due to the existence of the Hopf bifurcation that measures the critical values of the time lag, which will affect the stabilities of the non-trivial critical points of the models. Therefore, the effects of increasing and decreasing the values of selective proportional harvesting rate terms of prey and predator on the stabilities of the non-trivial critical points of the fishery models were analysed. Results have shown that, by increasing the values of the total proportion of prey and predator harvesting denoted by qx Ex and qy Ey respectively, within the range 0.3102 ≤ qx Ex ≤ 0.9984 and 0.5049 ≤ qy Ey ≤ 0.5363, the originally unstable non-trivial critical points of the fishery models can be stable.

The effect of refuge used by prey has a stabilizing impact on population dynamics and the effect of time delay has its destabilizing influences. Little attention has been paid to the combined effects of prey refuge and time delay on the dynamic consequences of the predator-prey interaction. Here, a predator-prey model with a class of functional responses was studied by using the analytical approach. The refuge is considered as protecting a constant proportion of prey and the discrete time delay is the gestation period. We evaluated both effects with regard to the local stability of the interior equilibrium point of the considered model. The results showed that the effect of prey refuge has stronger influences than that of time delay on the considered model when the time lag is smaller than the threshold. However, if the time lag is larger than the threshold, the effect of time delay has stronger influences than that of refuge used by prey.

Predation is interaction between predator and prey, where predator preys prey. So predators can grow, develop, and reproduce. In order for prey to avoid predators, then prey needs a refuge. In this thesis, a predator-prey model with refuge factor using Holling type III response function which has three populations, i.e. prey population in the refuge, prey population outside the refuge, and predator population. From the model, three equilibrium points were obtained, those are extinction of the three populations which is unstable, while extinction of predator population and coexistence are asymptotic stable under certain conditions. The numerical simulation results show that refuge have an impact the survival of the prey.

In this work, our aim is to investigate the impact of a non-Kolmogorov predator-prey-subsidy model incorporating nonlinear prey refuge and the effect of fear with Holling type II functional response. The model arises from the study of a biological system involving arctic foxes (predator), lemmings (prey), and seal carcasses (subsidy). The positivity and asymptotically uniform boundedness of the solutions of the system have been derived. Analytically, we have studied the criteria for the feasibility and stability of different equilibrium points. In addition, we have derived sufficient conditions for the existence of local bifurcations of codimension 1 (transcritical and Hopf bifurcation). It is also observed that there is some time lag between the time of perceiving predator signals through vocal cues and the reduction of prey’s birth rate. So, we have analyzed the dynamical behaviour of the delayed predator-prey-subsidy model. Numerical computations have been performed using MATLAB to validate all the analytical findings. Numerically, it has been observed that the predator, prey, and subsidy can always exist at a nonzero subsidy input rate. But, at a high subsidy input rate, the prey population cannot persist and the predator population has a huge growth due to the availability of food sources.

The model describing the interaction between the predator and prey species is referred to as a predator-prey model. The migration of these species from one patch to another may not be instantaneous. This may be due to barriers such as a swollen river or a busy infrastructure through the natural habitat. Recent predator-prey models have either incorporated a logistic growth for the prey population or a time delay in migration of the two species. Predator-prey models with logistic growth that integrate time delays in density-dependent migration of both species have been given little attention. A Rosenzweig-MacAurther model with density-dependent migration and time delay in the migration of both species is developed and analyzed in this study. The Analysis of the model when the prey migration rate is greater than or equal to the prey growth rate, the two species will coexist, otherwise, at least one species will become extinct. A longer delay slows down the rate at which the predator and prey population increase or decrease, thus aecting the population density of these species. The prey migration due to the predator density does not greatly affect the prey density and existence compared to the other factors that cause the prey to migrate. These factors include human activities in the natural habitats like logging and natural causes like bad climatic conditions, limited food resources and overpopulation of the prey species in a patch among others.

AbstractWith the rapid development of information society, rumor plays an increasingly crucial part in social communication, and its spreading has a significant impact on human life. In this paper, a stochastic rumor-spreading model with Holling II functional response function considering the existence of time delay and the disturbance of white noise is proposed. Firstly, the existence of a unique global positive solution of the model is studied. Then the asymptotic behavior of the global solution around the rumor-free and rumor-local equilibrium nodes of the deterministic system is discussed. Finally, through some numerical results, the validity and availability of theoretical analysis is verified powerfully, and it shows that some factors such as the transmission rate, the intensity of white noise, and the time delay have significant relationship with the dynamical behavior of rumor spreading.

Abstract This study numerically investigates the effect of spray-wall interactions on thermoacoustic instability prediction. The LES-based flame transfer function (FTF) and the convective time delay methods are used by combining the Helmholtz acoustic solver to predict a single spray flame under the so-called slip and film spray-wall conditions. It is found that considering more realistic film liquid and a wall surface interaction model achieves a more accurate phase lag in both of the time lag evaluations compared to the experimental results. Additionally, the results show that a new time delay exists between the liquid film fluctuation and the unsteady heat release, which explains the larger phase value in the film spray-wall condition than in the slip condition. Moreover, the prediction capability of the FTF framework and the convective time delay methodology in the linear regime are also presented. In general, the instability frequency differences predicted using the FTF framework under the film condition are less than 10 Hz compared with the experimental data. However, an underestimation of the numerical gain value leads to requiring a change in the forcing position and an improvement in the numerical models. Due to the ambiguous definition of the gain value in the convective time delay method, this approach leads to arbitrary and uncertain thermoacoustic instability predictions.

This paper is concerned with the minimal wave speed of traveling wave solutions in a predator-prey system with distributed time delay, which does not satisfy comparison principle due to delayed intraspecific terms. By constructing upper and lower solutions, we obtain the existence of traveling wave solutions when the wave speed is the minimal wave speed. Our results complete the known conclusions and show the precisely asymptotic behavior of traveling wave solutions.
