Purpose Microfinance institutions (MFIs) provide credit to low-income beneficiaries, enabling them to gain access to financial assistance. To ensure that clients are protected, all MFIs should adhere to basic corporate governance principles to guarantee uniform standards, transparency and good corporate governance practices in their institutions. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to explore the client protection practices and sustainable performance of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), a leading MFI in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach Closed-ended questionnaires were distributed to managers and assistant managers at 76 AIM branches across the peninsular Malaysia. A response rate of 68 per cent was achieved from the total questionnaires distributed. Findings The result shows that the level of client protection in AIM is high. It shows that accountability and debt collection process have a significant influence on the level of sustainable performance of AIM, whereas transparency and transaction costs have an insignificant impact on the level of sustainability of AIM. Consistent with the agency theory and institutional theory, the result also implies that having better debt collection process policy and structure, and accountability among management will enhance the level of sustainability of AIM. Originality/value Previous studies focused on the single issue of sustainability in microfinance, such as on repayment performance among the poorest people whom AIM served as clients. However, studies on the accountability towards clients are still underdeveloped by researchers. Hence, the current study fills the gap by examining whether client protection affects the sustainability of AIM.

The author examines the interface between bill collectors and consumers through the use of in-depth interviews. One important result is a profile of both bill collectors and consumer debtors that includes an understanding of their beliefs and attitudes toward as well as reactions to each other. To develop this profile, details of the debt collection process, including the activities of bill collectors, the reactions of consumers, and their resulting relationship, are provided. The author closes with public policy implications, further research opportunities, and broader implications for marketers.

Celem windykacji polubownej jest odzyskanie należności bez stosowania przymusu prawa wobec dłużnika. Jednym ze sposobów poprawy skuteczności windykacji jest właściwa organizacja procesu windykacji polubownej. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących efektywności tego procesu w zakresie organizacji procesu windykacji w różnej wielkości przedsiębiorstwach niefinansowych, spółkach windykacyjnych i instytucjach finansowych. Zaobserwowano istotne statystycznie różnice w umiejscowieniu procesu windykacji polubownej w strukturze organizacyjnej w zależności od rodzaju badanych podmiotów, a także różnice wśród osób zaangażowanych w proces windykacji niekierujących oraz kierujących procesem windykacji polubownej.

Pendataan yang bersifat manual menjadikan permasalahan pada proses dilakukannya pendataan, hal ini juga terjadi pada Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Pasuruan dimana pendataan masih bersifat manual dengan keterbatasan jumlah Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) yang ditugaskan untuk melakukan pendataan, oleh karena itu pada kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan pelatihan sistem informasi untuk meningkatkan waktu pendataan dan mengurangi kompleksitas dalam proses pendataan pada pegawai di Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Pasuruan. Pelatihan sistem informasi yang dimaksud adalah sistem informasi pendataan berbasis masyarakat, yang berisikan data dasar yang diperlukan oleh Pemerintah Daerah dalam rangka penyusunan rencana pembangunan. Data informasi tidak akan memberikan manfaat jika tidak dijadikan sebagai bahan acuan dalam penyusunan rencana pembangunan sehingga pelatihan dan pendampingan perlu dilakukan untuk tercapainya tujuan.Kata Kunci : Sistem Informasi, Berbasis Masyarakat, PendataanABSTRACT Manual data collection causes problems in the data collection process, this also occurs in the Pasuruan City Education and Culture Office where data collection is still manual with a limited number of Human Resources (HR) assigned to collect data, therefore this service activity is carried out information system training to increase data collection time and reduce complexity in the data collection process for employees at the Pasuruan City Education and Culture Office. The information system training referred to is a community-based data collection information system, which contains basic data required by the Regional Government in the framework of formulating development plans. Information data will not provide benefits if it is not used as a reference in the preparation of development plans so that training and assistance are needed to achieve the goals.Keywords : Information System, Community Based, Data Collection
