Abstract Boundless researchers have made efforts to assess the impact of Microfinance on poverty reduction both positively and negatively, but the perception of borrowers about the effectiveness of Microfinance has not been yet found. This study adopts the Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method (FCEM) in conjunction with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to evaluate the level of satisfaction of borrowers with the products and services of microfinance institutions at different criterion levels. The goal is to assess the level of satisfaction for each criterion level under the degree of satisfaction of the borrower about the product and services provided by Microfinance Institution (MFI). Findings show that the claim of MFI was false because study evidence makes it clear that borrowers are not satisfied with the product and services of MFI. In addition to the literature, this study also highlighted the weakness of the MFI product and services. Thus, both the government and the MFIs can improve their performance and change their policies for the welfare of the borrowers.

This study examines the impact of mentoring on the performance of women’s microenterprises in Malaysia’s northern states as well as participants in Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia. A proposed model has been constructed on the basis of thorough literature studies. Based on the literature, no clear conclusions about the impact of mentoring on the success of women’s microenterprises have been reached. This study’s originality stems from the implications of information and knowledge for any micro-entrepreneur or microfinance institution to consider the impact of mentoring on performance. Aside from that, the paper’s other contribution is the microfinance institution’s moderating function in providing microfinance. This paper will undoubtedly contribute to the body of information on women’s business performance. The data for this study will be collected from 348 female micro-enterprises through a cross-sectional survey with stratified random sampling. Data will be analysed using descriptive statistics and regression using SPSS and SmartPLS. KEYWORDS: mentoring, microenterprise, microfinance, micro entrepreneurs and women business performance

This article deals with the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the performance of a non-profit microfinance institution operating in the Nilgiris and Perambalur districts of Tamil Nadu in India. The primary focus of the paper is on the microfinance institute’s financial performance in terms of outreach and portfolio quality before and after the coronavirus outbreak. The most worrisome factors that were encountered in due course of the study include a decline in loan portfolio and clientele, and an increasing trend in portfolio at risk (PAR) percentage due to a surge in client overdues, outstanding loan amount and rise in number of delinquent clients. These negative impacts on performance were further investigated by establishing a connection to the clients’ repayment ability. A survey was conducted among the women clients of the microfinance institution by enlisting 120 respondents, 60 from each district to identify the various constraints faced by them in loan repayment as a result of the government-imposed lockdown that affected their livelihood and curbed their source of income. Therefore, an attempt has been made to bring out the ground level realities that played an important role in disrupting the normal functioning of the microfinance institution during the pandemic outbreak. This will prove useful in setting guidelines for future crises of like nature to enable microfinance institutions to keep functioning efficiently without any drastic changes to their performance.
