High School Experiences That Support Post-School Success: What Can We Learn?

Students with disabilities continue to lag behind their peers without disabilities in the area of post-school success. This study qualitatively analyzed individual responses from 6 years of post-school outcomes survey data in one state to identify positive experiences said to help students reach their post-school goals. Respondents reported nine themes as being the most helpful in meeting their goals after high school, including having supportive staff members, taking career development coursework, and developing success attributes such as self-advocacy. A negative experience theme also emerged in the analysis. Implications for educators are discussed related to emphasizing instruction in self-determination and career development. Implications for states are discussed related to the post-school outcomes data collection process.

Journey of Data Collection: My Experience Narrative of Working with Destitute Children Residing at Children’s Home

This article represents a narrative description of my data collection journey and the experience of working with children residing at Child Care Institution (CCI) like children’s home. It outlines my experience in a creative language and also draws attention to the challenges I faced, be it seeking permission from the concerned authorities or visiting the children’s home to actually working with the children. The procedures to access these children are quite lengthy and strenuous. Overall, this article highlights my experiences as a researcher, working with the children, the lessons I learnt and dealing with challenges imposed by COVID-19. In conclusion, through this experience article, I intend to make my fellow researchers aware of the procedures and challenges involved in dealing with this population, data collection process, which could benefit them to prepare accordingly, and to recommend to the caretakers and stakeholders the need for research in this area and promote activities to enhance mental health conditions.

Developing a Method to Valuate the Collection of Big Data

Although organizations recognize the potential of “big data,” implementation of data analytics processes can consume a considerable amount of resources. The authors propose that when organizations are considering this costly and often risky investment, they need a systematic method to evaluate the costs of data collection associated with the implementation of a new data and analytics (D & A) strategy or an expansion of an existing effort. Therefore, in this article, a new dimension of big data is proposed which is incorporated into a theoretically justified and systematic method for quantifying the costs and benefits of the data collection process. By estimating the worth of data, organizations can more efficiently focus on streamlining the collection of the most beneficial data and jettisoning less valuable data collection efforts.

Distance Education Experiences of First-Year Undergraduate Students

In this study, interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA), one of the forms of analysis of phenomenology included in qualitative research paradigms, is introduced. First, the chapter emphasized what the phenomenology pattern is as well as the history and basic philosophy of phenomenology. Afterward, the phenomenological approaches will be mentioned, and a comparison of the related approaches shall be presented. The aim of this study and the research questions were shaped by including an exemplary phenomenon in the basic framework. In order to find answers to the relevant research questions, the method of the study, the participant selection, and the data collection process, ensuring validity and reliability and the issues to be considered in the interpretation of the data were discussed. The analysis process of the data collected through a sample data collection tool was explained. The results obtained through IPA were combined under themes. In this way, a model was developed in the study. In this study, important explanations about the use of IPA for researchers were given.

Implementation of community-based education management: a case study of Islamic boarding schools in Bengkulu city, Indonesia

The purpose of this study is to reveal the objective conditions and characteristics of Islamic boarding school management as a model of community-based education in Bengkulu City. This study uses a qualitative approach, the method used is a single instrumental case study. The data collection process used (1) in-depth interviews, (2) participatory observation, and (3) documentation study. The data analysis technique is domain analysis by focusing on terms, semantic relationships, and the phrases they cover. The results and research findings show that Islamic boarding school management as a model of community-based education in Bengkulu City needs to be addressed regarding management according to good and correct management principles, which have been using full authority and top leader charisma. Given that Islamic boarding school is a type of community-based education, the application of management must pay attention to the aspects of management that apply to community-based education. Organizational agility to counter coronavirus implications in emerging Saudi universities

Objective: The study's primary goal was to uncover the reality of organizational agility in emerging universities. It also aimed to determine the statistical variances between the mean scores of the sample used in the axes of the organizational agility questionnaire for these universities. The main variables used are gender, academic position, and years of experience. Methodology: The study utilized the descriptive method. The data collection process entailed handing out questionnaires to a sample of seven hundred and forty-seven faculty members in Jazan, Bishah, Hafar Al-Batin, Shaqraa, and Najran Universities. Results: Emerging universities regularly practice organizational agility in light of the emerging coronavirus with high flexibility at moderate costs. The study's results also indicated mathematically substantial variances at the degree of viability between the male sample's average and the female sample's average in favor of the female sample in the timing and the flexibility of practices. It also indicated statistically significant variances at the degree of significance between the mean scores of the research sample, attributed to the difference in the academic position in the timing, flexibility, and cost of practices. Using Toe Framework to Analyze Factors Influencing Social Media Usage by Micro, Small And Medium Enterprises

This study aims to evaluate the factors that influence the use of social media in micro, small and medium enterprises. By using a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach, the study examines the influence of factors based on the TOE (Technology-Organization-Environment) Framework theory. The data collection process was carried out by means of interviews and questionnaires distributed online. From the quantitative analysis conducted on 100 samples using multiple linear regression techniques, it is known simultaneously that the factors in the context of the TOE Framework have a significant effect on the use of social media in MSMEs. In the context of technology, the factors that have a significant effect on the use of social media are the interactivity of social media and the suitability of the technology that has been previously owned. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS 25. The results of the study concluded that the suitability factor, inter-activity and entrepreneurial orientation had a significant effect on the use of social media in MSMEs.

An analysis of the effect of procurement practices on public institutions: an examination of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (mmdas) in the Ashanti region of Ghana

Governments in both affluent and developing countries employ procurement strategies to decrease costs, resulting in large cash outflows that have a substantial influence on their economy. However, especially in the public sector, public procurement practices are usually disregarded in terms of their impact on an organization's success. As a result, utilizing Metropolitan, Municipal, and Distract Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana's Ashanti Region as case study institutions, it is unavoidable to investigate public sector procurement practices and their impact on organizational performance. The survey study design was used to map out the data collection process. A purposively sampled cohort of 113 people was used to administer the questionnaire. Using the Probit Regression Model, the study claims that procurement practices such as planning, sourcing, and contract management have a substantial positive link with organizational success. Given the interdependence of all dimensions of procurement practices, procurement practitioners are urged to give each factor proportionate attention to improve organizational performance.

Investigation of Teacher Roles in Educational Practices in The Covid-19 Pandemic: A Phenomenological Study

In the research, it is aimed to analyze the roles of teachers teaching in distance education in the Covid-19 pandemic period and to investigate the obstacles encountered in the realization of these roles. The aim of the research is examined with the post-positivist paradigm and analyzed with the phenomenological design which is one of the qualitative research methods. In the research, participants were chosen from the teachers of Mathematics, Foreign Language, Science, Turkish and Social Studies who teach at least 15 hours or more per week in distance education. The data collection process in which data triangulation was performed included diaries kept by teachers for five days, individual interviews and focus group interviews. Transcripted data were analyzed by content analysis technique. According to the findings of the research, it was observed that the roles of the teachers who participated in the study were “communicator”, “collaborator”, “facilitator” and “learner” teacher during the distance education in Covid-19 pandemic. It has been observed that there are obstacles in the realization of roles in issues such as injustice / inequality in education, subject-centered program, structure of the education program, professional development, student and parent unwillingness. Teachers stated the features that teachers should have in the process of distance education as technopedagogical content knowledge, planning instructional activities, being able to measure distance assessment and provide student motivation.

Exploring Children's Science and Mathematics Ability with Leaf Diary: A Case Study

Purpose – This study aims to explore Leaf diary activity to develop the Science and Mathematics ability of children aged 6 years.Design/methods/approach – The method used is a case study. The unit of analysis is based on predetermined criteria, using the purposive sampling technique. Research informants are mentors and children involved in leaf diary activity in Solok, Indonesia. The data collection process used participant observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews. Data analysis used structural analysis techniques.Findings – The results showed that leaf diary activity could develop: (1) children's ability to classify leaves based on their shape; (2) the ability to compare leaf size based on length, as well as large or small size.Research implications/limitations – All research informants were from Solok District, Indonesia, which may limit the generalizability of the findings.Practical implications – This case study contributes to the implementation of Leaf diary as an alternative activity that teachers or parents can do to develop children's science and mathematics ability.Originality/value – Leaf diary activity can help children explore the natural environment so that basic science and math abilities and concepts in this activity are carried out well.
