AbstractA critical job task for law enforcement officers that should be influenced by strength is the body drag. This study analyzed relationships between absolute and relative strength measured by a one-repetition maximum hexagonal bar deadlift (1RM HBD), with body drags completed with 74.84 kg and 90.72 kg dummies. Twenty recreationally-trained individuals completed the 1RM HBD in one session, with peak power measured via a linear position transducer. Over two subsequent sessions, participants dragged the 74.84 kg and 90.72 kg dummies with two techniques. The first technique followed Californian standards, where participants wrapped their arms around the dummy and lifted it to standing before timing commenced. In the adapted technique, timing included the initial manipulation of the dummy. Participants dragged the dummy as quickly as possible over a 9.75 m distance. Partial correlations and linear regression (controlling for sex; p < 0.05) analyzed relationships between the HBD and body drags. The standard 74.84 kg body drag correlated with every HBD variable (r = -0.477 to -0.666), and was predicted by the absolute 1RM HBD (r2 = 0.467). The adapted 74.84 kg drag correlated with all HBD variables (r = -0.535 to - 0.754), and was predicted by peak power and the 1RM HBD (r2 = 0.758). Both 90.72 kg drags correlated with absolute and relative 1RM HBD (r = -0.517 to -0.670). Strength related to all body drags; peak power may be more important for drags with lighter loads. Strength training should be a focus in law enforcement to enhance drag performance.

Abstract This study investigated whether: law enforcement recruits could complete a 74.84-kg (165-lb) body drag without specific training; relationships between the body drag and absolute and relative isometric grip and leg/back strength could be established to assist with training recommendations; a strength baseline needed to complete the 74.84-kg body drag could be established. Retrospective analysis on a recruit class (72 males, 21 females) from one agency was conducted. Recruits completed the body drag, and had strength assessed by hand grip and leg/back dynamometers in the week before academy. The body drag required the recruit to lift the dummy to standing and drag it 9.75 m as quickly as possible. Independent samples t-tests calculated between-sex differences in the drag and strength measures. Recruits were ranked according to drag time to describe the strength of recruits that could not perform the task. Pearson’s correlations and a stepwise linear regression calculated relationships between the body drag and isometric strength. Male recruits completed the drag faster and were stronger than females (p < 0.001). Only two females could not complete the drag, and they had leg/back strength below 100 kg. Greater absolute (r = -0.599 and -0.677) and relative (r = -0.261 and -0.322) grip (combined score) and leg/back strength, respectively, related to a faster drag. Absolute leg/back strength predicted the body drag (r2 = 0.444). Improving absolute isometric grip and leg/back strength could enhance dragging ability. A minimum isometric leg/back strength score of 100 kg may be needed to perform a 74.84-kg body drag.

The close-grip bench press (CGBP) is a variation of the traditional bench press (TBP) that uses a narrower grip (~95% biacromial distance) and has application for athletes performing explosive arm actions where the hands are positioned close to the torso. Limited research has investigated CGBP peak power. Twenty-six strength-trained individuals completed a one-repetition maximum TBP and CGBP. During two other sessions, subjects completed two repetitions as explosively as possible with loads from 20% to 90% for each exercise, with peak power measured by a linear position transducer. A factorial ANOVA calculated between- and within-exercise differences in peak power. Partial correlations controlling for sex determined relationships between absolute and relative strength and peak power load. Peak power for the TBP occurred at 50% 1RM, and 30% 1RM for the CGBP. There were no significant (p = 0.680) differences between peak power at each load when comparing the TBP and CGBP. For the within-exercise analysis, there were generally no significant differences in TBP and CGBP peak power for the 20–50% 1RM loads. There were no significant relationships between strength and peak power load (p = 0.100–0.587). A peak power loading range of 20–50% 1RM for the TBP and CGBP is suggested for strength-trained individuals.

White Collar Crime or Corruption is no longer a foreign matter in the government of the State of Indonesia. Like a culture that is rooted and continues to evolve, the problem of corruption in Indonesia has not yet found a bright spot, all the resources and efforts continue to be deployed to eradicate the already chronic disease in the body of this country. In 2018, the International Transparency Organization launched data on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI). Based on these data, Indonesia was ranked 89th with a score of 38. The government is well aware that this problem is no longer an ordinary problem, but has become an entrenched culture even to the line of life of the Indonesian people, this certainly requires us to work harder to eradicate this disease to its roots. Based on this, the author argues that in an effort to solve the problem of corruption is not enough if we only rely on law enforcement officers. There is another aspect that the writer values are very important in fighting this problem, that aspect is education. Eradication of corruption in the aspect of education can be applied as a preventive step, namely by instilling the value of honesty and justice in the souls of students. Based on this, the author took the initiative to conduct a research with a sociological juridical approach in the city of Semarang, Central Java.

This study determined whether a five repetition-maximum Bulgarian split-squat (5RM BSS) could potentiate a 0-5, 0-10, and 0-20 m (meter) sprint performance. Seven men were assessed in the 5RM BSS (a linear position transducer measured peak power [PP] and force [PF] for each leg), and completed two post activation potentiation (PAP) sessions. One session involved a control condition (CC) of 4 minutes (min) rest; the other the 5RM BSS. Participants were assessed in baseline sprints, and sprints of 15 seconds, 2, 4, 8, 12, and 16 min post-PAP intervention. A repeated measures ANOVA (p < 0.05) calculated significant changes in sprint times. The best potentiated time for each interval was also compared to the baseline. Spearman’s correlations (r; p < 0.05) calculated relationships between absolute and relative strength, PP and PF, with percent potentiation in sprint times. The BSS did not potentiate speed at any time, although there was great individual variation. The best 0-5 m time was significantly different from the baseline (p = 0.022), with no differences between PAP conditions. Significant correlations were found between strength and sprint potentiation at 16 min for the 0-5 m interval, and at 8 min and the best times for the 0-20 m interval (r = -0.786 to -0.893). There were correlations between PP and PF for each leg with sprint potentiation from 2-12 min across all intervals (r = -0.786 to -0.964). Stronger individuals who generate greater PP and PF in a 5RM BSS will be more likely to potentiate 20-m sprint performance.

Currently, the country of Indonesia is experiencing unresolved narcotics problems. various efforts to eradicate and prevent narcotics have been done, but have not caused a deterrent effect in law enforcement. There is a difficulty in eradicating it to its roots, it becomes one of the obstacles experienced by our law enforcement officers, in this study using normative juridical research method with historical approach, conceptual approach which has been studied the customary criminal sanction which is applicable during the reign of the buton sultanate and obstacles in the application of gogoli punishment. The results of this study indicate that the renewal of national criminal law in relation to criminal sanctions may originate from customary law prevailing in the sultanate of buton as intended is gogoli punishment, while the concept of gogoli punishment is a rope encircled on the body of a person convicted and withdrawn by in opposite direction until the loss of endurance or death, the punishment is included in the type of death penalty, this is relevant to immigrants who commit a narcotics criminal act in Indonesia which has been sentenced to death several times but apparently until now still not cause effects, the authors has the hope that the punishment can be applied nationally considering narcotic criminal acts that occur almost throughout the region and will damage the morale of the nation today.

Today, a certain conflict in judicial practice, the current criminal procedural and criminal-executive legislation of Ukraine is the procedure for execution of court sentences related to imprisonment, from the moment they enter into force. At the legislative level, the limits of competence of the National Police officers remain unresolved after the receipt of such a sentence to any police unit and the procedure for their execution. When enforcing a court sentence, law enforcement officers have a number of problems that make it impossible to enforce it, or even inaction is formed on their part. As a result, these factors contribute to convicts evading punishment or committing other crimes at this time. To date, the legislator does not define the competence of the National Police and does not include in its responsibilities the execution of court decisions related to imprisonment. However, when deciding on the determination of the body that will execute such a decision, the judicial institution is guided only at its own discretion or by the materials of the criminal proceedings in which it will be adopted. To solve such problems, it is necessary to correctly determine the procedure for each body to perform its functions. Such decisions cannot be made by the heads of structural subdivisions alone, and therefore this leads to the solution of this problem at the level of departmental management with further amendments to the legislation governing the activities of their sectoral services.

Animal law is the body of statutory and case law governing the treatment of nonhuman animals, including wildlife, companion animals, and animals used for research, entertainment, and food. Emerging rapidly on academic and legal horizons since 2000, entire programs of study at all levels are now dedicated to training students to be effective humane educators, attorneys, law enforcement officers, and citizens.High-profile court cases, such as SeaWorld v. California Coastal Commission, along with the proliferation of animal protection documentaries, such as Blackfish, Earthlings, and Tyke: Elephant Outlaw, have raised profound questions about our treatment of other species. Animal protection is now a mainstream phenomenon, largely due to the Internet and social media providing instant visibility to and awareness of the critical issues of our time.
