On-the-fly Ambiguity Resolution Using an Estimator of the Modified Ambiguity Covariance Matrix for the GNSS Positioning Model Based on Phase Data On-the-fly ambiguity resolution (OTF AR) is based on a small data set, obtained from a very short observation session or even from a single epoch observation. In these cases, a classical approach to ambiguity resolution (e.g. the Lambda method) can meet some numerical problems. The basis of the Lambda method is an integer decorrelation of the positive definite ambiguity covariance matrix (ACM). The necessary condition for the proper performing of this procedure is a positive definiteness of ACM. However, this condition is not satisfied in cases of very short observation sessions or single epoch positioning if phase-only observations are used. The subject of this contribution is such a case where phase-only observations are used in the final part of the computational process. The modification of ACM is proposed in order to ensure its positive definiteness. An estimator of modified ACM is a good ACM approximation for the purpose of performing the LAMBDA method. Another problem of short sessions (or a single epoch) positioning is the poor quality of the float solution. In this paper, a cascade adjustment with wide-lane combinations of signals L1 and L2 as a method of solving this problem is presented.

This paper presents an autonomous method of collecting data for Visible Light Positioning (VLP) and a comprehensive investigation of VLP using a large set of experimental data. Received Signal Strength (RSS) data are efficiently collected using a novel method that utilizes consumer grade Virtual Reality (VR) tracking for accurate ground truth recording. An investigation into the accuracy of the ground truth system showed median and 90th percentile errors of 4.24 and 7.35 mm, respectively. Co-locating a VR tracker with a photodiode-equipped VLP receiver on a mobile robotic platform allows fingerprinting on a scale and accuracy that has not been possible with traditional manual collection methods. RSS data at 7344 locations within a 6.3 × 6.9 m test space fitted with 11 VLP luminaires is collected and has been made available for researchers. The quality and the volume of the data allow for a robust study of Machine Learning (ML)- and channel model-based positioning utilizing visible light. Among the ML-based techniques, ridge regression is found to be the most accurate, outperforming Weighted k Nearest Neighbor, Multilayer Perceptron, and random forest, among others. Model-based positioning is more accurate than ML techniques when a small data set is available for calibration and training. However, if a large data set is available for training, ML-based positioning outperforms its model-based counterparts in terms of localization accuracy.

Small data set approach is used for the estimation of Largest Lyapunov Exponent (LLE). Primarily, the mean period drawback of Small data set was corrected. On this base, the LLEs of daily qualified rate time series of HZ, an electronic manufacturing enterprise, were estimated and all positive LLEs were taken which indicate that this time series is a chaotic time series and the corresponding produce process is a chaotic process. The variance of the LLEs revealed the struggle between the divergence nature of quality system and quality control effort. LLEs showed sharp increase in getting worse quality level coincide with the company shutdown. HZ’s daily qualified rate, a chaotic time series, shows us the predictable nature of quality system in a short-run.

AbstractAlthough convolutional neural networks have achieved success in the field of image classification, there are still challenges in the field of agricultural product quality sorting such as machine vision-based jujube defects detection. The performance of jujube defect detection mainly depends on the feature extraction and the classifier used. Due to the diversity of the jujube materials and the variability of the testing environment, the traditional method of manually extracting the features often fails to meet the requirements of practical application. In this paper, a jujube sorting model in small data sets based on convolutional neural network and transfer learning is proposed to meet the actual demand of jujube defects detection. Firstly, the original images collected from the actual jujube sorting production line were pre-processed, and the data were augmented to establish a data set of five categories of jujube defects. The original CNN model is then improved by embedding the SE module and using the triplet loss function and the center loss function to replace the softmax loss function. Finally, the depth pre-training model on the ImageNet image data set was used to conduct training on the jujube defects data set, so that the parameters of the pre-training model could fit the parameter distribution of the jujube defects image, and the parameter distribution was transferred to the jujube defects data set to complete the transfer of the model and realize the detection and classification of the jujube defects. The classification results are visualized by heatmap through the analysis of classification accuracy and confusion matrix compared with the comparison models. The experimental results show that the SE-ResNet50-CL model optimizes the fine-grained classification problem of jujube defect recognition, and the test accuracy reaches 94.15%. The model has good stability and high recognition accuracy in complex environments.

AbstractThe purpose of the study was to develop a deep learning network for estimating and constructing highly accurate 3D bone models directly from actual X-ray images and to verify its accuracy. The data used were 173 computed tomography (CT) images and 105 actual X-ray images of a healthy wrist joint. To compensate for the small size of the dataset, digitally reconstructed radiography (DRR) images generated from CT were used as training data instead of actual X-ray images. The DRR-like images were generated from actual X-ray images in the test and adapted to the network, and high-accuracy estimation of a 3D bone model from a small data set was possible. The 3D shape of the radius and ulna were estimated from actual X-ray images with accuracies of 1.05 ± 0.36 and 1.45 ± 0.41 mm, respectively.

AbstractThe BeiDou global navigation satellite system (BDS-3) constellation deployment has been completed on June 23, 2020, with a full constellation comprising 30 satellites. In this study, we present the performance assessment of single-epoch Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning with tightly combined BeiDou regional navigation satellite system (BDS-2) and BDS-3. We first investigate whether code and phase Differential Inter-System Biases (DISBs) exist between the legacy B1I/B3I signals of BDS-3/BDS-2. It is discovered that the DISBs are in fact about zero for the baselines with the same or different receiver types at their endpoints. These results imply that BDS-3 and BDS-2 are fully interoperable and can be regarded as one constellation without additional DISBs when the legacy B1I/B3I signals are used for precise relative positioning. Then we preliminarily evaluate the single-epoch short baseline RTK performance of tightly combined BDS-2 and the newly completed BDS-3. The performance is evaluated through ambiguity resolution success rate, ambiguity dilution of precision, as well as positioning accuracy in kinematic and static modes using the datasets collected in Wuhan. Experimental results demonstrate that the current BDS-3 only solutions can deliver comparable ambiguity resolution performance and much better positioning accuracy with respect to BDS-2 only solutions. Moreover, the RTK performance is much improved with tightly combined BDS-3/BDS-2, particularly in challenging or harsh conditions. The single-frequency single-epoch tightly combined BDS-3/BDS-2 solution could deliver an ambiguity resolution success rate of 96.9% even with an elevation cut-off angle of 40°, indicating that the tightly combined BDS-3/BDS-2 could achieve superior RTK positioning performance in the Asia–Pacific region. Meanwhile, the three-dimensional (East/North/Up) positioning accuracy of BDS-3 only solution (0.52 cm/0.39 cm/2.14 cm) in the kinematic test is significantly better than that of the BDS-2 only solution (0.85 cm/1.02 cm/3.01 cm) due to the better geometry of the current BDS-3 constellation. The tightly combined BDS-3/BDS-2 solution can provide the positioning accuracy of 0.52 cm, 0.22 cm, and 1.80 cm, respectively.

AbstractThe predictive performance of a machine learning model highly depends on the corresponding hyper-parameter setting. Hence, hyper-parameter tuning is often indispensable. Normally such tuning requires the dedicated machine learning model to be trained and evaluated on centralized data to obtain a performance estimate. However, in a distributed machine learning scenario, it is not always possible to collect all the data from all nodes due to privacy concerns or storage limitations. Moreover, if data has to be transferred through low bandwidth connections it reduces the time available for tuning. Model-Based Optimization (MBO) is one state-of-the-art method for tuning hyper-parameters but the application on distributed machine learning models or federated learning lacks research. This work proposes a framework $$\textit{MODES}$$ MODES that allows to deploy MBO on resource-constrained distributed embedded systems. Each node trains an individual model based on its local data. The goal is to optimize the combined prediction accuracy. The presented framework offers two optimization modes: (1) $$\textit{MODES}$$ MODES -B considers the whole ensemble as a single black box and optimizes the hyper-parameters of each individual model jointly, and (2) $$\textit{MODES}$$ MODES -I considers all models as clones of the same black box which allows it to efficiently parallelize the optimization in a distributed setting. We evaluate $$\textit{MODES}$$ MODES by conducting experiments on the optimization for the hyper-parameters of a random forest and a multi-layer perceptron. The experimental results demonstrate that, with an improvement in terms of mean accuracy ($$\textit{MODES}$$ MODES -B), run-time efficiency ($$\textit{MODES}$$ MODES -I), and statistical stability for both modes, $$\textit{MODES}$$ MODES outperforms the baseline, i.e., carry out tuning with MBO on each node individually with its local sub-data set.

The Mahalanobis-Taguchi System is a diagnosis and predictive method for analyzing patterns in multivariate cases. The goal of this study is to compare the ability of the Mahalanobis-Taguchi System and a neural network to discriminate using small data sets. We examine the discriminant ability as a function of data set size using an application area where reliable data is publicly available. The study uses the Wisconsin Breast Cancer study with nine attributes and one class.

Nowadays, personalized recommendation based on knowledge graphs has become a hot spot for researchers due to its good recommendation effect. In this paper, we researched personalized recommendation based on knowledge graphs. First of all, we study the knowledge graphs’ construction method and complete the construction of the movie knowledge graphs. Furthermore, we use Neo4j graph database to store the movie data and vividly display it. Then, the classical translation model TransE algorithm in knowledge graph representation learning technology is studied in this paper, and we improved the algorithm through a cross-training method by using the information of the neighboring feature structures of the entities in the knowledge graph. Furthermore, the negative sampling process of TransE algorithm is improved. The experimental results show that the improved TransE model can more accurately vectorize entities and relations. Finally, this paper constructs a recommendation model by combining knowledge graphs with ranking learning and neural network. We propose the Bayesian personalized recommendation model based on knowledge graphs (KG-BPR) and the neural network recommendation model based on knowledge graphs(KG-NN). The semantic information of entities and relations in knowledge graphs is embedded into vector space by using improved TransE method, and we compare the results. The item entity vectors containing external knowledge information are integrated into the BPR model and neural network, respectively, which make up for the lack of knowledge information of the item itself. Finally, the experimental analysis is carried out on MovieLens-1M data set. The experimental results show that the two recommendation models proposed in this paper can effectively improve the accuracy, recall, F1 value and MAP value of recommendation.
