During the Covid-19 pandemic, many teachers and students were doing the teaching and learning process from home. They experienced many problems during the remote instruction. Therefore, the objectives of this research were to investigate the teachers' perceptions and obstacles in the process of teaching and learning English by using online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research was mixed method, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The instruments used were a set of questionnaire and interview. The data collected from the questionnaire was analyzed using descriptive statistic. In addition, the interview result was analyzed qualitatively to describe the obstacles. The result in the questionnaire indicated that most of the teachers were against the implementation of online learning, i.e. 55.45% and 44.54% teachers were in favor of this method of instruction. The problems can be categorized into technical and situational problems. These problems can be resolved depending on teachers' teaching experience, condition, and situation. Teachers can give the learning module to the students, and the teachers must be creative in delivering the teaching material. In addition, parents' support is very crucial for maintaining students’ motivation, enthusiasm, and expression during online learning.

<p>The purpose of this study was to describe the use of Total Physical Response (TPR) method on young learners English Language Teaching (ELT) at Panti Asuhan Yauma. The method of the research is descriptive qualitative. In this research the researcher describes the activities carried out by teachers and students by using TPR method. The data resources are from teacher and students in Panti Asuhan Yauma Jakarta. The class consists of 30 students which their ages were around 5 to 11 years old. The data collected through observation in learning activities. The instruments were pre-test and post-test with 2 (two) criterion being assessed, namely vocabulary and comprehension. They were divided into 5 (five) elements such as accuracy of word, understanding each word, word choice, understanding the meaning, and speaking easily. The results showed that there was an improvement in vocabulary score about 27.40 and comprehension score about 28.77. The research finding first showed that when using the TPR method children enjoyed and were also very active in learning English. The researcher hopes that the study contributes to the activities of teaching and learning English, especially teaching English for young learners. It was proved by the score from pre-test and post-test.</p>

The use of Information Technologies (IT) tools has become very important requirements for teachers and students nowadays in achieving academic goals in higher education. The harness of computers, internet, e-mail, multi-media and other IT tools is indispensable and has a great influence on the process of language teaching and learning in an effort to improve the quality of education and to produce best human resources that not only having good competence in foreign language but also possessing great capabilities in the use of Information Technology to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. The study seeks to find out the frequency and the purposes of IT usage by students and lecturers in the English learning environment. A questionnaire containing questions about the frequency and the use of IT in the teaching and learning process was disseminated to the students and the lecturers of the English Literature department at the University of Bangka Belitung. The study reveals that the lecturers and students show a positive attitude towards the use of IT tools and the harness of the tools in the process of teaching and learning is believed to be very useful.

The researcher hopes that the study contributes to the activities of teaching and learning English, especially teaching English for early childhood. It was proved by the score from pre-test and post-test.

Counselling plays a significant role in bringing out a remarkable change in an individual’s personal and professional life. It has entered a number of domains including education. As human problems are mushrooming day by day in this hi-tech world, there is a dire need for finding solutions to those problems. It is counselling that comes to one’s aid to solve one’s problems that are psychological and personal. In English language teaching and learning too, there are multiple problems encountered by teachers and students as well. This paper discusses how counselling is indispensable to English Language Teaching (ELT) for finding solutions to problems faced by English language learners. Exploring the relevance of counselling to ELT, it also seeks to highlight the benefits of integrating it with ELT. It brings out the need for introspection of English language teachers to provide counselling to students. It enumerates various counselling skills, and presents an account of problem-solving method in ELT and eight approaches to counselling.

The emergence of new technological tools has affected and changed the realm of education to a great extent which has led many language practitioners to adopt gradual innovative steps in their teaching methods. Accordingly, flipped learning has been adopted and implemented in different contexts such as ELT. The purpose of this paper is to provide information regarding the definition of flipped learning, its recent literature, its advantages and disadvantages, and to focus on how to apply this approach in English language teaching and learning contexts. The review shows that this approach meets the principles of personalized learning, constructivism, and student-centered instruction which has brought many benefits for both teachers and students and clearly shows teachers’ and students’ roles have been significantly changed comparing with traditional methods of teaching and learning. The significance of this study lies in the fact that it has brought numerous insights and implications for ELT practitioners. The paper concludes with the recommendations in the literature on promoting flipped classroom environments in ELT teaching and learning contexts, which will help ELT teachers and practitioners who are thinking of implementing new technological tools in their teaching practices

ICT is the acronym for Information and Communication Technology and refers to a varied set of technological tools and resources used communication to create, disseminate, store, and manage information. In the context of teaching and learning, the integration of ICT can assist students in acquiring English language competency as well as enhancing the quality of their learning experience. Previous research has shown that there exists barriers to implementing ICT in teaching and learning, i.e. teacher-level barriers and school-level barriers. Despite there being barriers for ICT integration in teaching and learning, the Covid 19 pandemic has fast tracked ICT integration, and today teachers and students worldwide have been forced to work online regardess of whether they are prepared in terms of knowledge, skills and resources for the 'technologisation' of teaching and learning. This study investigated teachers’ practices and perceptions in using ICT in English Language Teaching (ELT) with a focus on the obstacles faced by English language teachers in using ICT in their lessons, measures taken to increase their ICT usage and the perceptions of using ICT in the classroom. Respondents in this study were 18 teachers in a premier school with either a training in English language teaching or English background and at least 5 years' teaching experience. Using a 60-item questionnaire, data was gathered on respondent’s ICT literacy, obstacles faced, ICT usage and their perceptions of using ICT in the classroom. The findings of the research suggest the lack of ICT literacy and time allocated for teaching and learning process as the main obstacles faced by English teachers in using ICT. In addition, the overall ICT literacy of the teachers were still limited and needed to be improved especially in the use of internet so that they would gain more confidence in implementing ICT in their classroom. While the findings show that the main problems that had restricted the teachers in using ICT in their teaching is the lack of ICT skills and confidence in implementing ICT in the classroom, this study recommends that schools provide more training and ICT courses to teachers to improve teachers’ ICT literacy as a measure to embrace the new normal of the Covid 19 pandemic digitalised era.

Using technology in teaching and learning process has become a must in this era, because it facilitates the teachers and students to be connected to the learning materials. The purposes of this research were to develop mobile-based authentic listening materials and to find out the validity and practicality of the developed product. This is a research and development study that followed the ADDIE model. The respondents of the research were the tenth-grade students of SMA Pembangunan Padang. The instruments of this research were need analysis questionnaire, validation sheet, evaluation sheet, and practicality sheet. The results of the study were (1) The listening materials needed by the students and teachers were identified. The authentic listening materials were developed using the android application with Adobe Animate CC 2019 and were validated by two experts in English language teaching and one expert in media development. (2) The developed listening material was valid and practical both by the English language experts and the Media Development expert. Therefore, the developed product is appropriate to be used by the students and teachers as supplementary media in teaching and learning listening skill.

This study explores five in-service teachers' perceptions with regards to the technical and pedagogical usability of digital flashcards in English language teaching. All the teachers were enrolled in a one-year Masters of Art in English Language Teaching program at Coventry University and had previous teaching experience ranging from elementary to university level. The study adopted a quan?QUAL mixed-method research design, combining elements of surveys and case studies, to examine the factors that affected the teachers' perceptions in addition to how they view three specific websites: Cram, Quizlet, and StudyStack. Participants explored these websites and created sets of flashcards in a computer lab, then completed a survey and participated in a focus group interview. Findings suggest that although the teachers were willing to integrate digital flashcards in their future teaching, it is dependent on several factors, including: learners' age, the quality of graphics in the websites, and the teachers' prior experience as students on their MA program. Nonetheless, the “wow” factor seemed to influence their perceptions of the usability of these websites, which can either be extreme positive or negative initial reactions as a result of the websites' presentational scheme.
