Inflammation is a normal protective response to tissue injuries caused by physical trauma, destructive chemicals, or microbiological substances. The purpose of this study was to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of papaya leaf water extract (Carica papaya L.) on the feet of male Wistar rats which were induced by carrageenan 1%. The research method used is experimental. The stages of this study include plant identification, making dry simplicia powder, simplicia characteristics, extracting papaya leaves using water, simplicia phytochemical screening and papaya leaf water extract (EADP), as well as testing for anti-inflammatory activity. Anti-inflammatory testing was carried out on 20 male Wistar rats induced with 1% carrageenan sub plantar. The test group was divided into five groups for the induction, comparison, EADP 50, 100, 200 mg/kg BW groups. The parameters observed were the volume of mouse leg udema measured by a pletismometer every 30 min for 5 h. Data obtained then calculated percent inflammation and percent inflammation inhibition. Furthermore, it was analysed by ANOVA with a confidence level of 95%. The results of the simplicia characteristics showed that the water content, water content of the sea water and soluble extracts of ethanol were 8.9%, 51.4% and 10.2% respectively. The results of simplicia and EADP phytochemical screening showed the content of flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids, glycosides, and alkaloids. Observations of the percentage of inflammation in the induction group had the highest percentage of inflammation compared with the other test groups at time of 300 min (p 0.05). Whereas the percentage of inflammatory inhibition of all groups of test extracts has effectiveness comparable to the comparison group. EADP group 200 mg/kg BW is the best dose of extract as anti-inflammatory, where flavonoid compounds are thought to be responsible for decreasing the volume of inflammation in the legs of test animals.

Enhydra fluctuations an edible semi-aquatic vegetable plant are widely used in the traditional system of medicine. Ethanolic extract of Enhydra fluctuans was screened for analgesic & anti-inflammatory activity. Analgesic activity was evaluated by the hot plate method and anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by formalin induce paw edema in Wistar rats (male). Ethanolic extract dose of 300 mg/kg reduce formalin induce paw inflammation and also increased the pain threshold in rats evidenced by hot plate method. The experimental results concluded that Enhydra fluctuans have significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity may due to flavonoid and phenolic compound content.

Kepuh (Sterculia foetida L) is a type of kapok plant that has been scientifically proven to have activity as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic. 70% ethanol extract of stem stem is obtained by maceration using 70% ethanol. Examination of the characteristics of 70% ethanol extract of kepuh stem included organoleptic, of moisture content and determination of residual solvent content. Phytochemical screening of 70% ethanol extract of kepuh bark includes: alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tannin , polyphenol, and examination of glycosides. The results of the examination of the characteristics of 70% ethanol extract of kepuh stem obtained water content of 8.66 ± 0.748%, the residual content of the solvent had a 0 (zero) ethanol level. The results of phytochemical screening showed 70% ethanol extract of stem stem containing steroid compounds, triterpenoids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and polyphenols. The identification using UV-Vis spectrophotometry produced ? 212, the absorbance was 1.8601 and ? 284, the absorbance was 0.42186.

Phytochemicals possessing the antioxidant properties naturally present in food attract a greater interest to healthcare researchers due to their desirable health effects on human health as they can be explored for protection against oxidative deterioration. Macrtotyloma uniflorum is a leguminous plant belonging to the family Fabaceae and commonly known as Horse gram. Aqueous and ethanol extracts of seeds of Macrotyloma uniflorum were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory effects using the scientific protocol on experimental rats. Extraction was carried out using the cold maceration method, and the anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using a digital plethysmometer in the experimental rats injected with carrageenan to produce paw edema. Preliminary phytochemical studies confirmed the presence of various bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, glycosides, carbohydrates, proteins and amino acids, terpenoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds in both extracts while flavonoids were found only in ethanol extract. Both extracts of M. uniflorum seeds (200 mg/ml) significantly (p<0.01) reduced the paw edema volume induced by carrageenan. The ethanol extract of M. uniflorum seeds exhibited more potent anti-inflammatory activity than water extract, that might be due to the presence of flavonoids in ethanol extract. The activity of the extracts was compared with diclofenac sodium (10mg/kg b.wt.) as a reference drug. From the results, it may be suggested that the antioxidative potential of phenolic constituents and flavonoids is the primary factors for the anti-inflammatory activity of M. uniflorum seeds extracts.

The stew of Mirabilis jalapa L. flower has been used traditionally as an anti-inflammatory. Phytochemical screening of Mirabilis jalapa L. flower showed flavonoid content which is known to have anti-inflammatory activity. This study aims to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of Mirabilis jalapa L. flower infusion using the red blood cell membrane stabilization method by inducing hypotonicity and heat. The test group consisted of Mirabilis jalapa L. flower infusion with a concentration of 2.5%; 5%; and 10% w / v, positive control (diclofenac sodium 0.01% w / v and aspirin 0.01% w / v), and negative control (distilled water). The anti-inflammatory activity of Mirabilis jalapa L. flower infusion was determined by the percentage of membrane stabilization and inhibition of red blood cell hemolysis. Data from the test results were statistically analyzed both parametric and nonparametric with SPSS. Mirabilis jalapa L. flower infusion contains flavonoids, tannins and terpenoids. The test results showed that the 10% concentration of Mirabilis jalapa L. flower infusion had the largest percentage of red blood cell hemolysis protection on hypotonicity induction, that is 99.50% (p>0.05) and the largest percentage of hemolysis inhibition on heat induction, that is 50.27% ( p≤0.05). From these results, it can be concluded that the Mirabilis jalapa L. flower infusion has potential as an anti-inflammatory by stabilizing the red blood cell membrane.
