As the human lifespan becomes longer, many people invest time and money in managing external beauty. However, managing external beauty has the disadvantage of causing side effects or that the effect does not last. Therefore, research and development are required to maximize effectiveness, eco-friendliness, and sustainably in beauty management. The purpose of this study was to experimentally identify the anti-aging effects, such as skin wrinkle and elasticity improvement, of extracts from Bahera, Phyllanthus emblica, Triphala, and Carica papaya, and to confirm their development as whitening and wrinkle functional cosmetic materials. In this study, a solid mixture was prepared using eco-friendly Terminalia bellirica, amla (Phyllanthus emblica), Triphala, and Carica papaya, and experimental samples were extracted. Antioxidant tests, antibacterial activity tests, polyphenol and flavonoid content, and deodorization tests were conducted to test the efficacy of experimental samples. The procedures and methods of these experiments are summarized in the following article. In this study, we found that the Bahera, Phyllanthus emblica, Triphala, and Carica papaya extracts had significant effects on whitening and wrinkle improvement, and that the effects of using ethanol-based extracts as the co-solvent were even greater. In other words, extracts of Bahera, Phyllanthus emblica, Triphala and Carica papaya showed antioxidant, whitening, and anti-wrinkle effects, and extracts that used ethanol as a co-solvent showed greater effects. In particular, we found that the optimal concentration of ethanol as a co-solvent maximizes its effectiveness at 70%.

The experiment was conducted to evaluate the adaptability of newly released papaya varieties at Chano Mille research site of Arba Minch Agricultural Research Center during 2019-2020 cropping seasons. The three hermaphrodite papaya varieties namely; Braz-HS1, Koka-HM1 and Meki-HL1 were used for the study and laid-out in a Randomized Complete Block Design in three replications. Data on yield and yield components were collected and analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) through Statistical Analytics System software. The ANOVA results revealed that there were significant variations among papaya varieties for the studied parameters. Significantly, the highest number of fruits plant-1, number of leaves and fruit yield were obtained from Braz-HS1 papaya variety. The fruit yield of Braz-HS1 variety was 46% higher than that of Koka-HM1. In general, Braz-HS1 papaya variety performed (in terms of number of fruits and fruit yield) better than the rest two varieties. Thus, Braz-HS1 papaya variety could be recommended for the papaya growers in the study area and vicinity with similar agro-ecology. Int. J. Agril. Res. Innov. Tech. 11(2): 69-71, Dec 2021

Abstract The mealybug, Paracoccus marginatus is one of the important insect pests in papaya (Carica papaya L.). The high potential for damage caused by this pest poses a threat to the production of papaya in Indonesia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the intensity of P. marginatus attack on papaya by observing variables such as plant varieties, planting seasons and cultivation methods. The area of observation plots was about 2.000 m2. The cultivation technique applied was monoculture with a spacing of 2.5 m x 2.5 m. Thirty plots of plants were collected from each plot of plants using diagonal sampling technique. The total number of leaves and the number of leaves attacked were recorded. Damage intensity was determined based on the category: no attack (score 0), mild 1-25% (score 1), moderate 26-50% (score 2), severe 51-75% (score 3), and very severe 76-100% (score 4). The attack intensity was higher in the dry season than rainy season. The results show that attack was higher in the dry season that rainy season. The intensity of the attack was also higher in Thai varieties both in the rainy and dry seasons. More intensive pest control shall be applied in the dry season and in the introduced varieties.

Penambahan level tepung tapioka dan tepung daun pepaya (Carica papaya. L) yang diolah mengunakan teknik yang berbeda dalam pembuatan wafer ransum komplit diharapkan mampu memperbaiki kualitas fisik wafer. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kualitas fisik wafer  dengan penambahan berbagai level tapioka serta tepung daun pepaya (Carica papaya. L) yang diolah dengan  teknik  berbeda. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial (2×3) dengan 5 ulangan. Faktor A terdiri dari teknik pengolahan daun pepaya yakni, A0 = Silase daun pepaya; A1 = Amoniasi daun pepaya. Faktor B terdiri dari B0 = penambahan 0% tepung tapioka; B1= penambahan 5% tepung tapioka; dan B2 = penambahan 10% tepung tapioka. Peubah yang diukur adalah warna, aroma, tekstur, daya serap air dan kerapatan. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan tidak terdapat interaksi (P>0.05) antara teknik pengolahan daun papaya dengan level tepung tapioka yang berbeda terhadap warna, tekstur, aroma, daya serap air dan  kerapatan. Daun pepaya yang diolah dengan teknik yang berbeda memberikan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,01) terhadap warna, tekstur, dan aroma. Penggunaan level tepung tapioka yang berbeda pada pembuatan ransum komplit memberikan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,01) terhadap warna. Penggunaan amoniasi daun pepaya dalam ransum komplit dengan level tepung tapioka 5% memberikan hasil terbaik dinilai dari warna yaitu coklat tua dan memberikan skor warna 3,03

Papaya cut easily loses quality, so a smart label is needed to detect the freshness of the papaya cut.. Smart label for detecting papaya freshness are made by immobilizing whatmann filter paper membrane on the indicator of turmeric. Smart label have a 2 minutes response time, good reproducibility is indicated by the RSD values <5%, and the usage time is 15 days. Smart label have been successfully applied to detect freshness of cut papayas on the market

Pemanfaatan kosmetik  tradisional sebagai upaya pemeliharaan kecantikan  berupa kosmetik tradisional  oleh masyarakat terus meningkat. Tidak hanya racikan sendiri, produk kosmetik  tradisional saat inipun telah banyak beredar. Biji pepaya merupakan limbah dari pepaya yang tidak digunakan oleh masyarakat sehingga perlu diteliti kemanfaatannya dengan penghambatan terhadap enzim tyrosinase. Biji papaya (Carica papaya seed) mengandung senyawa flavonoid yaitu kaempferol dan quercetin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan hasil penghambatan enzim tyrosinase dar biji papaya yang akan membuat kulit menjadi lebih putih. Pengujian ini menggunakan tiga jenis ekstrak biji pepaya dengan variasi cairan penyari (methanol, n-Heksane, air) dan dilakukan pengujian terhadap penghambatan enzim tyrosinase. Dipoeroleh penghambatan IC50 177 ppm. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan maka disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak biji papaya (Carica papaya) dengan perbedaan cairan penyari memiliki efektivitas sebagai krim pemutih.
