<p>ABSTRACT</p><p>Effective and efficient fertilization is affected by fertilizer dose, and therefore information on the appropriate dose of a single fertilizer for oil palm will be beneficial to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of fertilization in oil palm plantations. The objectives of this research were to study the response patterns and to determine optimum rate of single fertilizer package related to the growth of one year old oil palm trees. The experiment was conducted from March 2013 to February 2014 at IPB-Cargill Teaching and Research Farm of Oil Palm, Jonggol Bogor. The experiment was arranged in randomized block design with one factor and replicated three times. The treatments were four single fertilizer package as followed: control, 300 g urea + 375 g SP-36 + 350 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O, 600 g urea + 750 g SP-36 + 700 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O, 900 g urea + 1125 g SP-36 + 1050 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O per plant. The result showed that application of single fertilizer package significantly increased the growth of young oil palm linearly as shown by plant height, stem girth, leaf area of frond number 9, chlorophyll and P content of the leaves and quadratically on leaf number at the last observation. The optimum rate of single fertilizer for one year old oil palm trees had not been attained at this research because the plant growth response to fertilization was still linear.</p><p>Keywords: inorganic, leaf frond number 9, optimum rate, growth response, stem girth</p>

Thinning is one of silvicultural management actions in maintaining and increasing growth and quality of standing stands. This study aims to determine growth response of selected teak clone to several intensities of thinning and intercropping. The method was a factorial completely randomized block design (RCBD) with thinning intensity (4 levels): 0% (control = A1), 25% (A2), 50% (A3) and 75% (A4) as the main plot, whileintercropping (2 levels), as the sub plot. The results showed that the Current Annual Increment (CAI) of diameter at breast height (CAI DBH), volume/tree (CAI vol/tree) and volume/hectare (CAI vol/ha) of stands gave a significant positive response to thinning intensity treatment. CAI DBH one year after thinning were 0.79 cm, 1.47 cm, and 2.46 cm; increased by 32%, 145% and 310% at the thinning intensity of 25%, 50% and 75% when they compared with the control (0.59 cm). CAI vol/ha of stand in the first year, namely 11.88 m3/ha, 14.04 m3/ha, and 16.78 m3/ha or with an increase of 9%, 29% and 54% respectively at an intensity of 25 %, 50% and 75% compared to the control.

Oil palm plantation expansion in Indonesia continue to increase year by year. Several varieties of oil palm have been produced but not much information about the growth characteristics. Urea as nitrogen fertilizer has become a staple for the cultivation cycle of oil palm. The determination of nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) on palm oil varieties can be used to find out N requirement of each plant according to their needs. This research was aimed to analyze the growth response and NUE of palm oil varieties to fertilizer N at pre nursery. It was conducted in nursery area at Yos Sudarso Binjai Street and Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit, Medan from November 2016 until March 2017 using Completely Randomized Block Design followed by Scott Knott test at α = 5%. There were 35 treatment combinations that used seven varieties of Dura x Pisifera Medan Palm Oil Research Center (AVROS, Simalungun, PPKS 540, Yangambi, PPKS 718, PPKS 239, and Langkat) with N consisting of 5 levels (0 ; 0,5 g ; 1 g; 1.5 g and 2 g). The results showed that the application of N fertilizer influence significant effect on the growth of stem circumference and the number of leaves. The highest of nitrogen use efficiency is found in Simalungun varieties with N application of 1,5 g/plant.

Optimum maintenance is required to get a high-quality parent plant. One of themaintenances is fertilization to ensure the optimal growth of the pepper parent plant. This studyaimed to obtain the optimum rate of urea fertilizer for a one-year-old of the pepper parentplant. The field experiment used a single factor in a randomized block design (RBD) with fiveurea rate levels, and each treatment was repeated three times. Treatment levels of urea rate,namely 0 g plant-1 year-1, 100 g plant-1 year-1, 200 g plant-1 year-1, 300 g plant-1 year-1 and400 g plant-1 year-1. The rate of urea influenced the number of internodes and leaf area of thepepper parent plant. The rate of 315 g plant-1 year-1 urea is the optimum rate for the growth ofthe number of the branch of a one-year-old pepper parent plant.

<p>ABSTRACT</p><p>The accuracy of fertilizer dosage for one-year-old oil palm plants is very important. The objective of the research was to determine the optimum rates of Nitrogen and Phosphorus fertilizers for young oil palm. The experiment was conducted at IPB-Cargill Teaching Farm of Oil Palm at Jonggol, from March 2013-March 2014. This study consisted of two separate experiments namely (1) Optimizing Nitrogen and (2) Optimizing Phosphorus. Both experiments used randomized block design with one factor and three replications. The treatments were five rates of nitrogen or phosphorus (0, 135, 270, 405, 540 g N per plant; 0, 135, 270, 405, 540 g P2O5 per plant). The results showed that nitrogen fertilizer rates increased height linearly at 10 month after treatment (MAT) and quadratically at 12 MAT. Stem girth, frond production and leaf area of 9th frond increased quadratically with N rates (9, 10, 12 MAT). Nitrogen fertilizer quadratically increased leaf chlorophyll content (12 MAT), but did not significantly affected leaf-N content. Phosphorus fertilizer increased palm height linearly (9, 10 MAT) and quadratically (12 MAT). Phosphorus linearly increased stem girth (12 MAT) and quadratically (9, 10 MAT). Frond production was quadratically increased with phosphorus rates (9, 10, 12 MAT). Phosphorus linearly increased leaf area of 9th frond (9 MAT) and quadratically (12 MAT). The optimum rates of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers for one year old plant was 382 g N and 331 g P2O5 per plant, respectively.</p><p>Keywords: inorganic, nutrient, optimum rates, single fertilizer</p>

The management of micronutrients in oil palm trees in the Brazilian Amazon is still underdeveloped; thus, information on plant demands and their interactions with other nutrients is required to create adequate management procedures. The objective this work was to evaluate the effects of phosphate, potassium, and magnesium fertilization on micronutrient concentrations in leaves of oil palm trees. The experiment was carried out in the Brazilian Amazon in a randomized block design in a 4 x 2 x 3 x 2 factorial scheme, using four phosphorus levels, two phosphorus sources (natural phosphate and triple superphosphate), three potassium levels and two magnesium levels. Phosphate fertilization increased the concentrations of boron, chlorine, and iron in leaves, while copper and manganese concentrations in leaves decreased with increased doses of phosphorus. Among the phosphorus sources, triple superphosphate provided higher chlorine concentrations in leaves. Potassium fertilization increased only chlorine concentrations in leaves, while magnesium supply did not alter micronutrient concentrations in leaves. Thus, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are essential to provide adequate micronutrient concentrations in leaves of oil palm trees.

The experiment was conducted at Agroforestry Research Centre, of G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar to assess the effect of age (one and two year old), growing condition (intermittent misting and no misting) and different seasons (summer, monsoon, autumn and spring) on rooting and shooting of culm cuttings of Dendrocalamus asper. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with three replications. The findings indicated that in D. asper, one year old culm cuttings in the intermittent misting condition showed good results. The findings also indicated that shooting and rooting per cent of culm cuttings planted in different season showed response as Spring (March)> Summer (June)> Monsoon (August)> Autumn (October).

Introduction: This study aims to determine the growth response of Mucuna bracteata cuttings to the concentration and duration of soaking shallot extract. Materials and Methods: This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors, namely: shallot extract concentration (P) consists of 4 levels, include P0= untreated, P1= 10 ml, P2= 20 ml, P3= 30 ml, meanwhile the soaking time (Q) consists of 4 levels, such as Q0= momentarily dipping, Q1= 15 minutes, Q2= 30 minutes, Q3= 45 minutes. The data was processed by ANOVA and if significant, then further tested with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the rate of 5%. Results: The concentration of shallot extract, soaking time and their interaction had a very significant effect on the survival percentage of Mucuna bracteata D.C. cuttings. The highest survival percentage of cuttings of Mucuna bracteata on the effect of shallot extract concentration and soaking time was obtained in the P0Q0, P0Q1, and P3Q2 treatments after the lid was opened at 4 weeks after planting. In the number of leaves also had significant effect in the interaction of two factors

Planting densities influence several aspects of forest formation, including management practices, timber yield, quality, and extraction, and consequently its production costs. The objective of this study was to evaluate Mimosa caesalpiinifolia and Gliricidia sepium growth as a function of planting density (400, 600, 800, 1000, and 1200 plants ha-1) and plant age. The species were evaluated every 90 days for plant height (PH), crown diameter (CD) and root collar diameter (RCD) (10 cm above the ground), with the first evaluation performed at 90 days and the last at 720 days. When plants were one year of age and beyond, evaluations were conducted also for stem diameter at breast height (DBH) (1.30 m above the ground). A randomized block design with split-plots and three replicates was adopted. Species were assigned to plots, planting densities were assigned to subplots, and evaluation ages were assigned to subsubplots. The four traits in both species had their values decreased as planting density increased, but continually increased as plant age increased. For PH and RCD there was an alternation between species superiority, with gliricidia being superior to sabiá at some ages, while the opposite occurred at other ages. As to CD the species only differed in the last measurement, gliricidia being superior. With regard to DBH, gliricidia was superior starting from the second measurement. There was an effect of the species × ages interaction for the four traits and also an effect of the densities × ages interaction for CD and DBH.

The purpose of this research was to discover the effect of solid and NPK fertilizer, as well as the interaction of solid and NPK fertilizer on the growth and production of green eggplant. This research used a factorial randomized block design with two treatment factors, namely the first factor: Administrationof oil palm solid which consisted of 4 levels of treatment, namely: S0 = No palm oilwaste solid; S1 = Administration of palm oil waste solid at 0.5 kg/m2; S2 = Administration of palm oil waste solid at 1 kg/m2; S3 = Administration of palm oil waste solid at 1.5 kg/m2. The second factor is the addition of NPK fertilizer per plant (J) consisting of 3 levels of treatment, namely: J0 = 0 g/plant; J1 = 5 g/plant; J2 = 10 g/plant. The results showed that solid treatment significantly affected the plants height at ages 2, 4, and 6 MST, flowering age, production per plant, and production per plot. The treatment of Solid S3 produced the highest plants aged 2, 4, and 6 MST, respectively (21.78 cm), (53.45 cm), and (77.78 cm), the fastest flowering age (32.89 days), highest production per plant (1748.77 g), and highest production per plot (21.89 kg). The NPK treatment significantly affected the plants height at ages 4 and 6 WAP, flowering age, production per plant, and production per plot. The NPK J2 fertilizer dosage treatment produced the highest plants aged 4 and 6 WAP, respectively (47.83 cm), and (75.84 cm), the fastest flowering age (32.91 days), the highest production per plant (1562.91 g), and the highest production per plot (19.86 kg). The interaction treatment of the NPK fertilizer and solid administration did not significantly affect all parameters. The combination of S3J2 produced the highest plants aged 2 and 6 WAP, respectively (22.33 cm) and (79.67 cm), the fastest flowering age (32.33 days), the highest production per plant (1816.67 g), the and highest production per plot (22.49 kg).

Okra plant is becoming to be one of favortite vegetable in Indonesia since then the deman of this plant is growing very rapidly. The aim of this research is to Utilize Palm Oil Liquid Organic Fertilizer and M-Bio Biofertilizer Against Growth and Production in Okra Plants (Abelmoschusesculentus  L.  Moench).  This  study  used  a  Randomized  Block  Design (RBD) with 2 replications. Factorial consisting of II treatment factors, Factor I treatment given P0: Without Liquid Palm Oil Organic Fertilizer, P1: Provision of PKS liquid fertilizer and Factor II, treatment of giving M-Bio. Parameters observed in this study were  vegetative dan generative. The results showed that the treatment of oil palm liquid organic fertilizer had no significant effect on vegetative and generative observed parameters. The treatment of M-Bio biofertilizer significantly affected the vegetative and generative observation parameters where the best dose was treatment  6%. The treatment of the combination of liquid organic fertilizer from palm oil waste and M-Bio biological fertilizer has no significant effect on all parameters of vegetative and generative observations.
