<p>ABSTRACT</p><p>Degradation of soil fertility due to inaccurate  application of fertilizer become one of the factors causing the stagnant rice productivity improvement in Indonesia. Straw incorporation, organic fertilizers and biofertilizers applications potentially reduces a rates of inorganic fertilizers and improves soil fertility. The aim of this study was to evaluate growth and yield of 3 lowland rice varieties (high yielding variety, new plant type, and local variety) in response to reduce NPK rates with straw incorporation, organic fertilizer, and biofertilizer in 7th planting season. The research was conducted at rice field in Karawang, West Java, from April-August 2013. The research was arranged in split plot randomized block design with 3 replications. The main plot was fertilizer application consisted of 10 treatments (combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers), while the sub plot was rice varieties (Ciherang, IPB 3S, and Mentik Wangi). The application of inorganic fertilizer, 400 kg NPK 30-6-8 ha-1, was control treatment. Plot size was 6.5 m x 10 m, with a double row spacing (25 cm x 15 cm x 50 cm). The result showed that growth of the three varieties was not significantly different so as the yield at 50% reduced NPK rate with incorporation of straw, organic fertilizer and biofertilizer. Adding of solid and liquid organic fertilizer, and biofertilizers on treatment of straw incorporation + 50% NPK rate was unnecessary due to insignificant yield increase.</p><p>Keywords: Ciherang, fertilizer, IPB 3S, local variety, Mentik Wangi, new plant type</p>

Semanggi (Marsilea crenata Presl.) is one of the aquatic plants that have been widely used by the community as food and medicinal raw materials. One of the important factors in cultivating clover is optimal fertilizer management. The incorporation of organic and inorganic nutrients has an effect on soil fertility has been repeatedly demonstrated in several studies, but there are not specific guidelines on clover cultivation. The challenge now is to combine organic matter of different qualities with inorganic fertilizers to optimize nutrient availability for the clover plant. The results of research on clover cultivation have also not been widely carried out. Therefore, it is very important to do this research with the aim of knowing the optimal effect of organic (cow manure) and inorganic (nitrogen, potassium) fertilizers on the growth and yield of clover (Marsilea crenata Presl.). The research was conducted at the Screen House of the Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University. The study was designed using a non-factorial randomized block design (RBD) with 8 (eight) treatment combinations of soil types and fertilization [inorganic (N, K) cow manure organic fertilizer (CM)], namely: P0 = soil, without fertilizer; P1 = soil, 138 kg N ha-1; P2 = soil, 136 kg K ha-1; P3 = soil, N and K, 138 and 136 kg ha-1; P4 = soil, 20x103kg of cow manure ha-1; P5 = soil, 20x103 kg of cow manure ha-1, 138 kg N ha-1; P6 = soil, 20x103 kg of cow manure ha-1, 136 kg K ha-1; P7 = soil, 20x103 kg of cow manure ha-1, N and K, 138 and 136 kg ha-1 with 3 replications, so that 24 experimental units were obtained. Each experimental unit consisted of 5 plants. Growth observations were observed destructively at the ages of 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32 days after planting (DAP). The results showed that there was an increase in the growth and yield of biomass in the soil combination, 20x103 kg of cow manure ha-1 (P4) was compared with the treatment without the addition of organic fertilizers (cow manure) on plant growth and yield parameters, such as stolon length (74.78 cm), number of leaves (160.44), leaf area (1379.28 cm2), root length (23.85 cm), stomata density and number of stomata (13.25); Stomata width (10.87 cm); Stomata length (19.76 cm), leaf fresh weight (12,907 g), leaf dry weight (1,802 g), total fresh weight 210,830 g, total dry weight 7,823 g, leaf harvest fresh weight (64.19 g); stalk (130.54 g); root (79.75 g); total 274.48 g), harvest dry weight of leaves (11.36 g); stalk (24.88 g); root (9.55 g); a total of 45.78 g) and the chlorophyll a content (0.804 mg.g-1); chlorophyll b (1.121mg.g-1); and total chlorophyll (1.924 mg.g-1).

The study aimed to determine the effect of various organic fertilizers on growth and yield of several varieties of upland rice, and the response of upland rice varieties to organic fertilizers under the stands of oil palm trees have not produced (TBM). The researches conducted in March until July 2016. This study was a randomized block design factorial trial with two factors and three replications, the first factor was some upland rice variety consist of ; Inpago 8 (V1), Situ Bagendit (V2), and Inpago 9 (V3) and the second factor was the variety of organic fertilizers such as; without organic fertilizer (BO0), compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches (BO1), chicken manure (BO2), Kirinyuh or green manure (BO3). Data were analyzed by ANOVA and a further test of Duncan’s multiple range test (DNMRT) level of 5%. The results showed that the varieties Situ Bagendit gave the best response to organic fertilizer by weight of dry milled grain at 4.6 tonnes/ha in the giving of chicken manure.

The study was carried out to determine the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on tomato yield and soil quality.  The study was performed in a randomized complete block design consisting of 7 treatments with 3 replications in the research farm, Shaikh Zayed University, Khost, Afghanistan. The fertilizers treatments were T1, organic fertilizer (5 t/ha); T2, organic fertilizer (10 t/ha); T3, urea (150 Kg/ha); T4, urea (200 Kg/ha); T5, mixed fertilizers (organic fertilizer 3 t/ha + urea (100 Kg/ha); T6, mixed fertilizers (organic fertilizer 6 t/ha + urea (70 Kg/ha) and T7 a control. Results indicate that applications of inorganic fertilizers with a combination of organic fertilizers increased tomato yield and improves the nutrient status of the soil. T5 showed the highest yield of tomato and followed by T4 treatment, which were 33.1 and 31.7 t/ha respectively. The lower yield were obtained in T7 and T1 treatments. The highest plant heights (205.0 and 199.0 cm) were obtained in T5 and T4 respectively, while the lowest plant heights were obtained in T1 treatment and followed by T7 treatment. Similarly, we found that a combination of both inorganic and organic fertilizers application also is the best strategy to improve soil nutrients, maintain soil fertility. Soil P2O5 and K2O, where the highest amounts were obtained in T5 and followed by T6, which were 26.5, 22.5 and 44.5 and 41.5 mg/L respectively. The control treatment had the lowest amount of P2O5 and K2O. Therefore, this study suggests that an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer with inorganic fertilizer not only increased tomato yield but also improve soil fertility.

Red chili plants are one of the important vegetable commodities and have high economic value in Indonesia, most of them are used for household and industrial purposes. The demand for red chili plants is increasing every year so that efforts are needed to increase the productivity of red chili plants. The objectives of study to determine (1) the effect of the interaction between the application of organic fertilizers and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of red chili plants, (2) the effect of the type of organic fertilizer and the correct dosage of inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of red chili plants. The research was conducted from January to May 2019 in Sumani village, X Koto Singkarak sub District, Solok District with a height of ± 400 meters above sea level. The design was used a factorial design in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 factors. The first factor is the use of organic fertilizers derived from cow manure (A1) and straw compost (A2). The second factor is the use of SP-36 fertilizer as a source of phosphate at a dose of 10 g/plant (B1), a dose of 30 g/plant (B2), and a dose of 50 g/plant (B3), each treatment consisting of four sample plants. Data from the observations were carried out by analysis of variance, if the obtained F count was greater than F table 5% followed by a further test of Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% real level. Parameters were observed: plant height, stem diameter, number of fruits, fruit length, fruit weight per plant, and yield of chili per hectare. The results showed that: (1) The results showed that the application of organic fertilizers was better for the growth and yield of Lotanbar chili plants. (2) The provision of cow manure can increase the growth of plant height, fruit length, fruit weight per plant and plant yield per hectare (3) There is no interaction between types of organic fertilizers and the dosage of phosphate fertilizers.

The tendency to use inorganic fertilizers in very high doses has causesvarious negative impacts, namely damage to ecosystems, loss of soil fertility to health problems. Therefore, the use of organic fertilizers is encouraged to overcome these problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Granules Organic Fertilizer (GOF) on the growth and yield of rice plants. The design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications and eight treatments. The GOF treatment was arranged in six levels: 1 000 kg ha–1 to 6 000 kg ha–1, combined with Urea 300 kg ha–1 and Phonska 300 kg ha–1, one standard fertilization treatment (Petroganic 2 000 kg ha–1 + Urea 300 kg ha–1 and Phonska 300 kg ha–1) and one treatment without fertilization as a control. The results showed that GOF had a significant effect on the growth and yield of rice plants. The use of GOF 3 000 kg + 300 kg Urea + 300 kg Phonska gave the highest grain yield of 7.21 t ha–1 with RAE value of 116 % or an increase of 7.45 %, and with an R/C ratio of 1.4.

Farmers use Inorganic Fertilizers (IF) to improve kenaf yield in Nigeria. However, the detrimental effects of mineral fertilizers and its high cost calls for the use of organic fertilizers that are locally available and environment friendly. Combination of Organic Fertiliser (OF) with IF may reduce the bulkiness of OF while harnessing the benefit of both for higher yields. Field trials were conducted at Ibadan and Ilora in 2013 and 2014 to investigate the effects of combined fertilizers on the growth and yield of kenaf. Organic and IF (NPK 20:10:10) fertilizers as: (i) 160 kg ha-1 (sole organic), (ii) 100 kg ha-1 (sole IFl), (iii) Organic and IF at 50:50 ratio and (iv) control (no fertilizer). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete block design (RCBD) and replicated three times. Results showed that plant height (220.17 cm, 216.80 cm) and stem diameter (2.27 cm, 1.16 cm). Bast fiber (2.27 t/ha, 2.27 t/ha) and seed yield (1.69 t/ha, 1.78 t/ha) in Ibadan and Ilora respectively were significantly higher in plots with combined fertilizer. Combined fertilizers had the highest fiber and seed yield above sole application and control (no fertilizer application). Hence it is recommended for kenaf cultivation in Southwest Nigeria.

The Effect of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers on The Growth and Results of Green Mustard (Brassica rapa L.). Green mustard (Brassica rapa L.) is a vegetable that preferred by many consumers, this causes many farmers cultivate this vegetables. One of the important factor in the cultivation of green mustard is fertilizer type. Alternative to improve soil quality and fertility is by providing organic matter. A field research was conducted to evaluate the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of green mustard, in Banjar Taman Tande, Baturiti Village, Bedugul from April to June 2018. This study was designed with a Randomized Block Design with nested patterns consisting of two factors. The first factor was the type of fertilizer, which was consisted of four types of organic fertilizer, namely: vermicompost, cow manure, chicken manure, goat manure and inorganic fertilizers (NPK Mutiara). The second factor was fertilizer dosage, which was consisted of three levels, namely: 0 tons/ha, 15 tons/ha, and 30 tons/ha, while for NPK Mutiara fertilizer dosages, namely: 0 kg/ha, 150 kg/ha, and 300 kg/ha.The results showed that the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers were not significantly different on the growth and yield of green mustard plants and RAE values. The total N content of soil on vermicompost treatment was 0.23% equal to NPK Mutiara. The total population of soil microbes on vermicompost treatment under dosage of 15 tons/ha and 30 tons/ha were 1.4 x 106 cfu/g that was much higher compared to NPK Mutiara 150 kg/ha fertilizer (0.3 x 106 cfu/g).

Assessment for increasing productivity of suboptimal land with using three kinds of organic fertilizer and six rice varieties had been conducted in the Debowae village, Waeapo district, Buru regency at 2011.  Purpose of the assessment were to determine the effect of three types organic fertilizer and the use of six Inpara varieties to growth and productivity of rice in sub-optimal land. Study used a split plot design with three replications (farmers as replicates), where the main plot was three types of organic fertilizers (livestock manure, granular organic, and petroganic), while the subplot was 6 varieties Inpara (Inpara 1, Inpara 2, Inpara 3, Inpara 4, Inpara 5, and Indragiri). The soil types at the study site based on soil classification were Endoaquepts with soil fertility status was low. The study results  showed  that  the use of organic  manure combined with inorganic fertilizers,  both  from  livestock manure, while granular organic and petrogranic, gave an average crop growth and yield better than the results obtained by farmers outside of the study. Average petroganic fertilizer had a better growth and higher crop yields compared to other organic fertilizers. The six varieties of rice swamps that were examined (Inpara 1, Inpara 2, Inpara 3, Inpara 4, Inpara 5, and Indragiri) had the average growth and better yields than rice varieties used by farmers outside of the study (2.75 t ha-1). Varieties Inpara 4, Indragiri, Inpara 1 and  Inpara 2 had average yield above 7 t ha-1, while Inpara 3 and  Inpara 5 average above 4 t ha-1. Combination of granular organic fertilizer with Inpara 4 variety and petroganic with Indragiri variety had the best results (8.37 and 8.02 t ha-1), while the lowest yield (4.48 t ha-1) was reached at combination of  livestock manure with Inpara 5 variety.Keywords: adaptive varieties, land and plant management, organic fertilizers, suboptimal land [How to Cite: Marthen PS and MLJ Titahena. 2014. The study aims to get an optimum dose of Azolla organic fertilizer that provides maximum growth and yield of rice crops. The experiments are arranged in complettely randomized block design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments tested were fresh Azolla biomass dose embedded in the ground to accompany the provision of Azolla that left to grow on the surface of the water of the rice fields. Treatments dose of fresh Azolla biomass awere M0 = control (without organic fertilizer Azolla); M1 = 100 g.pot-1 ; M2 = 200 g. pot-1; M3 = 300 g. pot-1 ; and M4 = 400 g. pot-1. The experimental results show that: (1) organic fertilizer Azolla improve the growth and yield of rice paddy fields, and (2) Results of maximum 56.35 grams of dry grain per plant with an optimal dose of organic fertilizer as much as 48.102 ton.ha -1. [CABBAGE (Brassica olacea var. capitata) GROWTH AND YIELD AFFECTED BY COMBINATION OF ORGANIC AND INORGANIC FERTILIZER APPLICATIONS]. The use of organic fertilizer increasingly sought by farmers due to the increase in demand for organic products by consumers and also awareness of the sustainability of the land. The use of organic fertilizers in the cultivation alone could improve the soil quality but needs to be balanced with inorganic fertilizers to meet the nutrient adequacy. This study aims to examine the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers combination on the growth and cabbage yield, and also to determine the most efficient dosage combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers. This research was conducted at the IPB Pasir Sarongge Experimental Station, Cianjur, West Java from November 2020 to February 2021. The study was compiled using RCBD with 4 replications and 7 treatments. The results showed the combination of 0.75 doses of inorganic fertilizer (150 kg/ha of urea, 75 kg/ha SP36, and 75 kg/ha KCl) and 3 tons/ha of organic fertilizer could increase 14.87 to 15.44% plant height and the number of leaves at 12.82 -15.11% compared to the same dose of inorganic fertilizer treatment alone. The combination of 1 dose (200 kg/ha of urea, 100 kg/ha SP36, and 100 kg/ha KCl) inorganic fertilizer application and 2 tonnes/ha of organic fertilizer could increase 50,60% yield/plot and yield/ha cabbage than 1 dose of inorganic fertilizer treatment..
