(Non)fuzziness of Identity in the Spanish-Portuguese Borderland: The Case of the Linguistic Community of A Fala de Xálima (Spain)This article analyses the social dynamics observable in a conversation with a minoritized language activist about the neighbouring speech communities. The study demonstrates that the local variety, along with its socially meaningful context, can be an important factor for the interactionally constructed local identity. The interviewee is a member of the community of practice of A Fala de Xálima, a Galician-Portuguese Romance minoritized language with about 5,000 speakers; they live in the Spanish province of Cáceres (on the border with Portugal). The analysis applies the ontological and epistemological principles of sociocultural linguistics in order to identify some indexical interactional orientations, such as stance and ideology. (Nie)ostrość tożsamości na pograniczu hiszpańsko-portugalskim – przypadek społeczności językowej A Fala de Xálima (Hiszpania)Celem artykułu jest analiza dynamik społecznych, które można zaobserwować w konwersacji z aktywistą na rzecz języka mniejszościowego, prowadzonej na temat sąsiednich społeczności językowych. W dalszej kolejności, celem jest ukazanie, że lokalna odmiana językowa, brana pod uwagę wraz ze swoim społecznie znaczącym kontekstem, może znacząco wpływać na lokalną tożsamość językową, budowaną w sposób interakcjonalny. Rozmowa została przeprowadzona z członkiem wspólnoty praktyki A Fala de Xálima – języka mniejszościowego należącego do galicyjsko-portugalskiej grupy języków romańskich – która liczy ok. 5000 użytkowników mieszkających w hiszpańskiej prowincji Cáceres (na granicy z Portugalią). W analizie autor posługuje się zasadami ontologiczno-epistemologicznymi tzw. językoznawstwa społeczno-kulturowego i przy ich użyciu opisuje wybrane orientacje indeksykalne o charakterze interakcjonalnym, takie jak pozycjonowania społeczne (ang. stance) i ideologie.

Food crops of local varieties are solutions to realize national food security. To boost the production of local corn varieties, various organic fertilizer is promising to develop. This research aimed to study the morphological and physiological response of local variety corn Tambin. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) one factor with seven treatments: various fertilizers. Various fertilizers consist of no organic fertilizer, liquid organic, compost, cow manure, rabbit urine, chicken manure, and goat manure. The results showed that the application of various organic fertilizers did not affect morphological characters of the local variety of corn Tambin. In This study, the application of various organic fertilizers did not affect the morphological character of corn, including the height of the plant, the number of leaves, the diameter of the stem, the length of the leaves, and the angle of Tambin corn leaves. Application of cow manure, compost, chicken manure, and goat manure could increase the leaf area aged 3 WAP (week after planting) by 716.13 - 1086.52 g per plant. In physiological character, the application of various organic fertilizers could not increase the net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, chlorophyll content, and the specific leave weight. The application of all organic fertilizers, except liquid organic fertilizer, increased the dry weight of plants at the time of harvest by 2.97 – 36.81 g.

Rice plant is paddy producing plant needed by most of Indonesians as staple food. Sei Geringging Village in Kampar District, Kampar Kiri Sub-District had technically irrigated field on peat land and peat buried. Farmers on Sei Geringging Village farmed 2 kinds of rice which were prime variety and local variety. Most of prime variety farmed was Inpari 9 and the local variety was Mentik Wangi. Farmers on Sei Geringging Village had been farming the rice without knowing which variety had been best to farm on peat land and on peat buried that the yield had not been optimal. This research aimed to know the comparison of maximum growth and production rate of Inpari 9 and Mentik Wangi variety rice on peat land and peat buried. This research was done by a survey with descriptive method .Treatment combination was repeatedly done 4 times resulting 16 unit trial squares. Each square had 5 sample plants. Best growth was on peat land that planted with the Inpari 9 variety and on peat buried was planted with Mentik Wangi variety resulting yield of 4,20 ton.ha-1

<p><strong>(<em>Production, Physical, and Organoleptic Characteristics of Superior Varieties Specific Location “Srikayang” Special Region of Yogyakarta</em>)</strong></p><p><strong><br /></strong>Bawang merah merupakan salah satu komoditas unggulan hortikultura semusim yang sejak lama telah diusahakan oleh petani secara intensif di Kabupaten Kulon Progo. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui produksi, karakteristik fisik, dan organoleptik bawang merah lokal Kabupaten Kulon Progo, yaitu varietas Srikayang. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Lengkap (RAKL) dengan lima ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa varietas lokal Srikayang memiliki keunggulan dibanding varietas eksisting lainnya, yaitu Tajuk, Bima, dan Siem. Hasil ubinan tertinggi varietas Srikayang 10,63 ton/ha. Varietas Srikayang memiliki, berat umbi 5,47 g sedangkan Tajuk 3,65 g, Bima 5,69 g, dan Siem 4,14 g. Jumlah umbi per rumpun verietas Srikayang lebih banyak dibanding varietas lain, yaitu 9,82 g, Tajuk 8,37 g, Bima 6,78 g, dan Siem 9,37 g. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan bahwa varietas Siem dan Srikayang tidak berbeda nyata. Jumlah umbi per rumpun tertinggi varietas Srikayang 50,03 g. Kecerahan umbi varietas Srikayang tertinggi sebesar 43,74 dibanding varietas lainnya. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa varietas lokal Srikayang layak dibudidayakan karena memiliki keunggulan dibanding varietas lain (Tajuk, Bima, dan Siem).</p><p><strong>Keywords</strong></p><p>Karakteristik fisik; Organoleptik; Srikayang; Varietas lokal</p><p><strong>Abstract </strong></p><p>Shallot is one of the leading commodities of horticultural crops that have long been cultivated by farmers intensively at Kulon Progo Regency since long time. The aim of research was to know the production, physical and organoleptic characteristics of local shallot at Kulon Progo Regency, namely Srikayang variety. The experimental design used Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with five replications. The results showed that local variety of Srikayang have advantages compared to other existing varieties namely Tajuk, Bima, and Siem. Srikayang variety hads a weight tuber of 5.47 g, while Tajuk 3.65 g; Bima 5.69 g; and Siem 4.14 g. Total of tubers per clump Srikayang more than other varieties that was 9.82 Tajuk; 8.37, Bima, 6.78 and Siem 9.37. The results of statistical analysis show that Siem and Srikayang were not significantly different. Srikayang had highest of total of bulb was 50.03 g and yield was 10.63 tonnes/ha. The brightness of Srikayang was the highest 43.74 compared to other varieties. Srikayang variety had the highest panelist acceptance value of 3.33 means that this variety was favored based on the result of organoleptic test. From the result of research it can be concluded that Srikayang decent cultivated because it hads moreadvantages compared to other varieties (Tajuk, Bima, and Siem).</p>

Minority languages have been the subject of a rich literature in the field of the sociolinguistics of tourism and a number of works have underlined that they have been increasingly used in tourism promotion in the last few decades as they convey overtones evoking authenticity. Travel websites do not only provide a first glance at a destination for potential guests, but they are also part of the tourist experience because they introduce visitors to relevant contents related to specific places. In view of this, in websites of a destination where a minority language is spoken the use of the local variety could be particularly relevant in order to promote a specific place as offering an immersion into a unique cultural experience. The present article addresses the question how ten minority communities in Italy mobilize their local languages for self-representation purposes within their tourism websites.

Apple scab, caused by Venturia inaequalis is one of the most damaging pathogens that affects apple species. Cross combinations were made between Auriu de Bistrița cv. (female genitor) - a valuable local variety in terms of fruit quality but only tolerant to scab, and Florina cv. (male genitor) used as a donor of Vf resistance gene. It was first detected in Malus floribunda Clone 821, which was later transferred to commercial varieties by different breeding programs. To confirm the presence of Vf gene, progenies resulting from the mentioned combination were tested with MAS (Marker Assited Selection), using two dominant primers pairs (AM19, U1400), and another one codominant (AL07) used to distinguish homozygous and heterozygous genotypes. After the crossing combination, a number of twenty-six hybrids were obtained, of which 50% (13 hybrids) were clasified as resistant (heterozygous), respectively 50% (13 hybrids) as susceptible (recessive homozygotes), so the Mendelian ratio was confirmed.

Landraces of ‘Carosello’ (Cucumis melo L.) are a typical expression of Apulia’s agro-biodiversity and are consumed in the same way as cucumbers. The aim of this research was to valorize the cultivation of a local variety of ‘Carosello’, extending the cultivation period and valorizing a part of the fruits that are generally wasted (endosperm). To accomplish this, a local variety called ‘Carosello leccese’ was grown in a greenhouse during the fall season under red + blue and red + blue + far red light-emitting diodes (LED) interlight. Yield, morphology, color and biochemical composition of the external and internal part of the fruit were evaluated. Although yield increased by 26% under supplemental light, the fruit quality was not influenced by LED application. However, the exocarp was greener (chlorophylls) and more yellow (carotenoids) than the mesocarp. Finally, the endosperm, which is the part of the fruit that is generally wasted, showed the highest polyphenols content, proving to be an important source of nutraceutical compounds. Therefore, it was demonstrated that the nutritional value of the endosperm is comparable or higher than the external part of the fruit, but further studies will be necessary to valorize it from a culinary perspective.

Seed germination performance test of Taherpuri onion (a local variety of onion) under six different temperatures (15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40°C) was the main goal of this experiment. Germination percentage (GP) was calculated at highest 60.25% at 25°C, and the highest germination rate 20.08 was observed in the same temperature condition. The lowest germination performance (13.25 % germi-nation and 3.32 seeds per day as germination rate) was found at 40°C temperature. Finally, the authors mentioned the temperature 20 to 30°C as optimum range, and suggested the temperature 25°C as best suited for obtaining highest results in case of both germination percentage and germination rate of these seeds. To produce maximum seedlings of the local variety of onion, the mentioned temperature should be followed by the local farmers.

Indonesian swamp has a high potency to provide areas for agricultural expansion, which means to raise food security. To optimize its utilization, government has developed new rice fields in the tidal swamp. This research was carried out in a new rice field from the tidal swamp in Bulungan District. The research aimed to optimize the new rice fields by implementing superior rice varieties (NSV). The study used a randomized block design (RBD) with three replicates. Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) analysis was performed to determine the feasibility of rice farming in the new field. The NSV consisted of six varieties of rice, namely Inpara-1, Inpara-2, Inpara-3, Inpara-4, Inpara-5, and a local variety. The planting pattern implemented was jajar legowo (jarwo) 2:1, and seedlings were planted three stems per clump at the age of 20-25 days. Each planting treatment was given the same dose of limestone and fertilizer, namely dolomite 1,000 kg ha-1, NPK fertilizer 250 kg ha-1, and Urea 100 kg ha-1. The results showed that all varieties were able to adapt tidal swamp condition, and Inpara varieties productivity was higher than that of local variety. The productivity of superior varieties rice in a newly opened rice reached 2.6–5.75 tons milled dry grain ha-1. The findings also revealed that superior rice varieties have BCR>1, while the local variety had BCR<1. The productivity of Inpara-1 and Inpara-2 was the highest compared to other varieties and was also feasible to be cultivated on newly opened rice fields in Bulungan District.
