The purpose of the study: Comparison of indicators of dental status in athletes of the Olympic national teams and the population of Moscow of the same age.Material and methods: Dental examination of 132 athletes of the Olympic national teams and 104 residents of Moscow, males aged 2035 years was carried out using the modified World Health Organization Dental Status Assessment Card. Results of the study: Analysis of the prevalence and intensity of dental diseases showed that the dental status of athletes is worse in such areas as the detection of previously performed endodontic treatment and its unsatisfactory quality (with more endodontically treated teeth), the detection of large fillings and poor-quality fillings among existing fillings, prevalence pathological abrasion, the prevalence of periodontitis, the detection of unsatisfactory levels of oral hygiene, yyavlyaemost pathology of the temporomandibular joint. The obtained patterns reflect the untimely and insufficient quality of dental care for adolescents-athletes in the regions, as well as indicate higher psychophysical loads in athletes compared to peers. This necessitates special therapeutic and preventive approaches in the implementation of dental care aimed at reducing the parafunctional overload of the dentition in athletes.

Compliance with oral hygiene is an important aspect of the prevention of dental diseases. But an uncontrolled choice, the use of improperly selected home hygiene products can lead to a number of complications, for example hyperesthesia of dentin. An important aspect of the choice of home hygiene products is their effect on the hard tissues of the tooth.Aim. To study in the experiment the effect of a hard toothbrush with a high level of abrasiveness of a toothpaste on the change in the enamel surface according to profilometry data.Materials and methods. Using the device for cleaning teeth, a study was carried out on the roughness of the surface if the enamel of the sample. In research were used the first 3 molars removed for periodontal indications, of which 3 samples of 1×1 cm were prepared. The measurements were carried out using a Senso neox profilometer (Sensofar) with a 3D magnification of 150 at the following time intervals: initial condition of the tooth, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year.Conclusion. When using a hard toothbrush together in combination with a highly abrasive paste, the optimal combination time is not more than 6 months. Further, there is an increase in roughness of enamel surface.

As the dentist begins to understand the complexity of each particular form of handicap and its characteristics, he/she is able to plan more efficiently for satisfactory treatment. These form of handicap children are at a greater risk for developing dental diseases, because of the greater neglect or poor oral hygiene and access to routine dental care. Deaf patients in particular often fail to obtain needed care because of communication difficulties experienced in the treatment situations.

Relevance: odontogenic infection plays an important role in the development of pregnancy complications, often causing premature birth of the child, as well as limiting its growth and development. According to studies Figueiredo C., Rosalem C., Cantanhede A. found that during pregnancy, women’s organs undergo various physiological, neurological and hormonal changes that occur gradually. In the process of such a restructuring of the body changes the dental status, which determines the correction stages of individual oral hygiene. According to the study Trigolos N. N., Firsova I. V., Makedonova Y. A. and others determined that dental health improves dental status, eliminates the possibility of exacerbation of chronic odontogenic foci of infection, reduces the risk of fetal infection and development of prenatal and postnatal complications, as well as a positive effect on antenatal prevention of dental diseases of the child.Materials and methods: a total of 216 pregnant women were examined and monitored for a month. To study the hygienic status of women during pregnancy with the pathology of hard tissues of teeth, the hygienic index of green-Vermillion was used. Assessment of the acid-base state of the oral fluid was carried out using the pH meter of the company “Hanna” with a replaceable pH electrode HI 1270. Antimicrobial activity of the hygiene of the mouth was studied with the use of different means of oral hygiene in the process of carrying out hygienic measures to identify maximum efficiency in the selection of funds and the development of “personal hygiene prevention programme”.Results: the assessment showed an increase in the cleansing effect for the entire period of the study in group 1 from 16.90 ± 3.53% to 49.77 ± 5.62%, in group 2 – from 28.19 ± 3.85% to 64.21 ± 6.32%, in contrast to the control – from 16.14 ± 3.21% to 35.87 ± 5.07%. Indicators of changes in acid-base efficiency of oral fluid were in the 1st group 2.50 ± 0.20, in the 2nd group - 3.21 ± 0.20, and in the 3rd group was 2.38 ± 0.20.Conclusion: during pregnancy, it is necessary to choose the right hygiene products to ensure oral health and maintain odontogenic infectious status, which eliminates the risk of preterm birth, which threatens a pregnant woman. The importance of odontogenic infection and ways of prevention in women of childbearing age is determined by the development of measures to strengthen dental health and plays a leading role in the planning of individual programs for the prevention of major dental diseases in women of childbearing age.

Recently, sanitary and educational work for the prevention of dental diseases in children is widely implemented, but the problem of awareness and oral hygiene in young and middle-aged people remains quite relevant. Nowadays, the range of dental items and hygiene products is quite wide, so a person who does not receive the recommendations of a dentist is quite difficult to understand what and why it should be used. Therefore, the aim of the study was to study the preventive knowledge of ordinary passers-by of young and middle age and their awareness of additional subjects and hygiene products. Object and methods of research. To achieve this goal, 100 passers-by in the center of Poltava were interviewed. According to the age classification of the World Health Organization: the young age is from 25 to 44, middle age is 44-60, elderly age is 60-75, senile age is 75-90 and long-livers are after 90. Two age groups were selected for the results: young and middle-aged, as these groups are the most common. Age was determined by survey. 50 people aged 25-44 years and 50 people aged 44-60 years were elected. The gender was not taken into account when choosing a contingent. Passers-by were asked 5 simple questions that characterized both the preventive habits of the respondents and knowledge about hygiene items and products. Research results and their discussion. Analyzing the answers to the questions, we found that young people (25-44 years) are more aware of the rules of oral care than middle-aged respondents (44-60 years). Answering the first question - "How often do you visit the dentist?" respondents answered as follows: only 5 young people visit the dentist as needed, while among middle-aged people this number is seven times higher. When answering the second question - "Do you pay attention to the composition of toothpaste when choosing?" respondents answered as follows: 42% of young people always pay attention to the composition, twice as many people - buy what the dentist advises, and the rest respondents were not interested in the components of the paste. The results of the second group were significantly worse. The third issue concerned the frequency of toothbrush changes, which is very important for the quality of oral hygiene and cleaning efficiency. The results of the survey showed that people from the older age group of the study are less aware of this issue. The answers to the fourth and fifth questions also showed a lower level of knowledge in middle-aged people. Thus, after analyzing the answers of the respondents, it is clear that people of the younger age group (25-44 years) are more aware of oral hygiene and prevention of dental diseases. In our opinion, this situation is associated with the introduction of health education at different levels, available information on the Internet and various social platforms, more responsible attitude to their health and awareness of preventive measures. It is necessary to pay attention to the education of middle-aged people regarding oral hygiene, as it is an integral part of the prevention of dental diseases.
