Migration of ethnic minorities in Central Highland region is a big concern of the policymakers as well as the social researchers. Based on the analysis of data from two Vietnam internal migration surveys taken in 2004 and 2015, the Central Highland had been a destination area for a majority of ethnic minorities’ rural-rural migrants. The study shows that the size of voluntary migrants came to the Central Highland region is strongly decreasing over the last five years. In contrast, there appeared an increasing group of voluntary migrants come out from the Central Highland to other regions, especially the North-East, looking for a job, income-earning for their households. The number of rural-urban migrants is increasing while the number of rural-rural migrants is decreasing among the ethnic minorities’ migrants. The share of temporary migrants is becoming dominant over the permanent ones in both in- and out-migration in the Central Highland region. The main purpose of the movement is seeking a job, income earning. By analyzing the existing data sets, it shows a significant impact of migrants’ education on their decision of movement. The study results may contribute to estimate the migration trend and serve as evidence for the ethnic minorities’ policymaking on the period from now to 2030.

<p>The Pados-Tundra massif is located in the western Kola Peninsula and included in the Notozero ultrabasic rock complex (Vinogradov, 1971). The intrusion occurs as a body of ca. 13 km<sup>2</sup> stretched out to the north-east. Enclosing rocks are Archaean granite- and granodiorite-gneisses. There are three major areas in the massif structure (Mamontov, Dokuchaeva, 2005): endocontact area, rhythmically layered series, and upper area. The endocontact area with thickness of 10-20 m occurs as schistose amphibole rocks formed during the metamorphism of main rocks. The rhythmically layered series occurs as a number of rocks from dunites to orthopyroxenites and composes most of the massif. There are 7 rhythms in total, each of which starts with dunites and ends with orthopyroxenites. Dykes of mezo- and leucocratic gabbro, diorites, and hornblendites are developed in the series rocks. The upper gabbronorite area can be partially observed in the north-eastern massif. Presumably, its major volume has been overlapped by enclosing rocks as a result of the overthrust. In the massif, there are 4 horizons of disseminated stratiform chromite ores, which are confined to dunites and serpentinites, as well as to a number of lens- and column-like bodies (podiform type) of chromite ores (Mamontov, Dokuchaeva, 2005; Barkov et al., 2017). Previous isotope-geochronological studies have determined the massif rock age of 2.15 Ga (Shapkin et al., 2008). However, further geological field observations and analysis of the obtained data assume that the intrusive is much older.</p><p>New Sm-Nd geochronological data indicate that the massif rocks and its rhythmically layered series are of Paleoproterozoic age, which is similar to the age of the Cu-Ni-Co-Cr-PGE ore-magmatic system of the Fennoscandian Shield (Amelin et al., 1995; Bayanova et al., 2014, 2017, 2019; Hanski et al., 2001; Huhma et al., 1990, 1996; Layered intrusions ...; 2004; Maier, Hanski, 2017; Mitrofanov et al., 2019; Peltonen, Brugmann, 2006; Puchtel et al., 2001; Serov, 2008; Serov et al., 2014; Sharkov, 2006; Sharkov, Smolkin, 1997). Complex Sm-Nd and U-Pb isotope-geochronological studies have allowed determining the major formation and alteration stages of the Pados-Tundra complex rocks:</p><p>–  formation of the rhythmically layered series rocks of the intrusive 2485±77 Ma, harzburgites of the layered series – 2475±38 Ma;</p><p>– metamorphism of the massif rocks at the turn of 1.95 - 1.9 Ga;</p><p>– postmetamorphic cooling of the complex rocks tо 650°-600°С at the turn of 1872±76 Ma (Sm-Nd for metamorphic minerals) and then to 450°-400°С (U-Pb for rutile, 1804±10 Ma).</p><p>Therefore, the study results expand geography the East-Scandinavian large Palaeoproterozoic igneous province and are prospective for further study of analogous ultramafite-mafite complexes.</p><p>All investigations and were supported by the RFBR 18-05-70082, 18-35-00246, Presidium RAS Program #48 and are in frame of the Theme of Scientific Research 0226-2019-0053.</p>

Abstract: In the mindset of ethnic minority communities in Vietnam, Northeastern region, Northwestern regions and Truong Son-Central Highlands refers to a forest-related & cultural ecosystem. Especially, both living space and social space of the ethnic minorities in Truong Son - Central Highlands are deeply forest-related. Researchers often call it "mountainous culture", "highland culture" or "upland culture". Similar to many other ethnic minority groups in the North East and North West, those in Central Highland have long “eaten” the forest, have their livelihood based on forest, and shelter in wild highlands without any previous human footprints. They believe that deep forests, high mountains, and watershed forests are sacred, where gods situate in and therefore needed to be strictly protected. However, wars, reclamation, economic development policies, consequences of migration and other reasons have significantly destroyed the forestry ecocultural system in Central Highlands, Vietnam. Ecological environment has been ruined rapidly while cultural spaces have also been seriously damaged. This article aims to examine roles of the forests in the preservation of traditional cultural values ​​of the Central Highlands, and from which, provide recommendations to ensure green and sustainable development for local communities in the Central Highlands in particular and Vietnam in general. There have been presented the study results of 11 collection hulled oats samples in comparison with the standard variety ‘Krechet’ conducted at the Falenskaya selection station of the FARC the North-East (the Kirov region) in 2018–2020. The purpose of the current study was to identify sources stable on the trait ‘1000-grain weight’ for the breeding of hulled oats by estimating the adaptability parameters. The soil of the experimental plot was sod-podzolic, medium loamy, the meteorological conditions were contrasting in temperature and precipitation. In the favorable year of 2019, the 1000-grain weight was the highest (34.6–45.9 g), the index of environmental conditions was positive (Ij = 1.6). In the unfavorable year of 2020, the 1000-grain weight was 31.3–41.8 g and the index of environmental conditions was negative (Ij = -1.5). There have been identified the adaptable sources (IEP = 1.08–1.00) ‘15330 KSI 590/05’ (Russia), ‘15388 Saltaret’ (Moldova), ‘15423 Prelekst’, ‘15426 Werva’ (Germany); the stable sources according to the relative stability of the trait (St2 = 0.99–0.91) ‘15280 55 h 2106’, ‘15331 CSI 2167/03’ (Russia), ‘15297 Geszti’ (Hungary), ‘15388 Saltaret’ (Moldova), ‘15428 Bohum’ (Poland), ‘15420 Leniak’ (Germany); the sources with a high level of intensity (I = 24.5 and 19.30%) – ‘15329 CSI 639/05’, ‘15330 CSI 590/05’ and homeostaticity (Hom = 25.28–11.96) ‘15280 55 h 2106’ (Russia), ‘15297 Geszti’ (Hungary), ‘15388 Saltaret’ (Moldova); the sources responsive to favorable growing conditions (Kp = 1.11–1.28) ‘15329 KSI 639/05’, ‘15330 KSI 590/05’, ‘15331 KSI 2167/03’ (Russia), ‘15414 Enostar’ (Germany); the most adaptive sources in terms of the sum of ranks ‘15330 CSI 590/05’ and ‘15329 CSI 639/05’ (Russia), ‘15388 Saltaret’ (Moldova), ‘15426 Werva, ‘15414 Enostar’ (Germany). There have been identified significant direct correlations between indicators of stability and homeostaticity (r = 0.96), intensity and coefficient of responsiveness (r = 0.73).

The paper is devoted to the study results of kurgan Halvay 5, which is located on the left bank of the Tobol branch of the Karatomar Reservoir (Northern Kazakhstan, Kostanay Region) 7 km to the north-east of Halvay and 500 m to the north-east of the Sintashta kurgan Halvay 3. The diameter of the kurgan is 30 m with a moat, the height is 0,8 m. Five burials were recorded under the embankment of the kurgan. All the primary burials of the kurgan Halvay 5 belong to the XXI century BC to Sintashta culture. All the main burials of the kurgan Halvay 5 were robbed in antiquity. The moat after the burial of the deceased (at least at the time of the robbery of the pits) was not filled up for a while. Funerary chambers have an overlapping of boards and logs, their walls are lined with bark and grass, the bottom is also covered with grass and bark. In the course of the study, the following analyses were performed: anthropological, paleozoological, paleobotanical, dendrochronological, X-ray fluorescent (XRF), radiocarbon. The sacrificial complex is represented by cattles, sheeps, and horses. The finds obtained as a result of the study of the kurgan Halvay 5 are: ceramic vessels, a bronze ax-adzo, stone arrowheads, abrasives and a zoomorphic altar. In the kurgan the Early Sarmatian burial was investigated.

<p>Irrigation represents a primary source of anthropogenic water consumption, whose effects impact on the natural distribution of water on the Earth’s surface and on food production. Over anthropized basins, irrigation often represents the missing variable to properly close the hydrological balance. Despite this, detailed information on the amounts of water actually applied for irrigation is lacking worldwide. In this study, a method to estimate irrigation volumes applied over a heavily irrigated area in the North East of Spain through high-resolution (1 km) remote sensing soil moisture is presented. Two DISPATCH (DISaggregation based on Physical And Theoretical scale CHange) downscaled data sets have been used: SMAP (Soil Moisture Active Passive) and SMOS (Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity). The SMAP experiment covers the period from January 2016 to September 2017, while the SMOS experiment is referred to the time span from January 2011 to September 2017. The irrigation amounts have been retrieved through the SM2RAIN algorithm, in which the guidelines provided in the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) paper n.56 about the crop evapotranspiration have been implemented for a proper modeling of the crop evapotranspiration. A more detailed analysis has been performed in the context of the SMAP experiment. In fact, the spatial distribution and the temporal occurrence of the irrigation events have been investigated. Furthermore, the loss of accuracy of the irrigation estimates when using different sources for the evapotranspiration data has been assessed. In order to do this, the SMAP experiment has been repeated by forcing the SM2RAIN algorithm with several evapotranspiration data sets, both calculated and observed. Finally, the merging of the results obtained through the two experiments has produced a data set of almost 7 years of irrigation estimated from remote sensing soil moisture.</p>

Abstract. Mesoscale variability in the central Rockall Trough between about 56 and 58° N has been investigated using a combination of ship-borne, underwater glider and gridded satellite altimeter measurements. Altimeter observations show that mesoscale features such as eddies and large scale circulation cells are ubiquitous phenomena. They have horizontal length scales of order 100 km with vertical scales of over 1000 m and are associated with mean current speeds (over the upper 1000 m) of 15 ± 7 cm s−1. Monthly area averaged surface Eddy Kinetic Energy (EKE) has substantial inter-annual variability, which at times can dominate a mean seasonal signal that varies from a maximum in May (74 cm2 s−2) to a minimum in October (52 cm2 s−2) and has increased gradually since 1992 at about 1.1 cm2 s−2 per year. A five month glider mission in the Trough showed that much of this energy comes from features that are located over 1000 m below the surface in the deep cold waters of the Trough (possibly from eddies associated the North Atlantic Current). The surface currents from altimeters had similar magnitude to the drift currents averaged over 1000 m from the glider in the stratified autumn, but were half the deep water speed during late winter. Although the mesoscale features move in an apparent random manner they may also be quasi-trapped by submarine topography such as seamounts. Occasionally anti-cyclonic and cyclonic cells combine to cause a coherent westward deflection of the European slope current that warms the Rockall side of the Trough. Such deflections contribute to the inter-annual variability in the observed temperature and salinity that are monitored in the upper 800 m of the Trough. By combining glider and altimeter measurements it is shown that altimeter measurements fail to observe a 15 cm s−1 northward flowing slope current on the eastern side and a small persistent southward current on the western side. There is much to be gained from the synergy between satellite altimetry and in situ glider observations both in the interpretation of their separate data sets and in aiding glider pilots to steer their vehicles through EKE active regions such as the north-east Atlantic.

The territory of the modern Italian Republic is inhabited by a number of ethnic minorities. They are protected by the State, which recognises them as linguistic minorities. These include the Friulian-speaking community in the north-east of the country. Like all other ethnic groups, it has its own history, which has shaped its specific characteristics. After the Second World War, and especially since the late 1960s, the efforts of researchers and activists to describe and understand this process intensified. They began to identify those events that were considered particularly important in the process of Friulian ethnogenesis. The aim of this article is to subject them to critical analysis and to show possible simplifications or hypocrisies in the assumptions made to explain the phenomenon of the formation of Friulian distinctiveness.

Ras a1 Khaimah is the most northerly of the seven states comprising the United Arab Emirates and its Ruler, H. H. Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammad al-Qasimi, is keenly interested in the history of the state and its people. Survey carried out there jointly with Dr D. B. Doe in 1968 had focused attention on the site of JuIfar which lies just north of the present town of Ras a1 Khaimah (de Cardi, 1971, 230-2). Julfar was in existence in Abbasid times and its importance as an entrep6t during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries-the Portuguese Period-is reflected by the quantity and variety of imported wares to be found among the ruins of the city. Most of the sites discovered during the survey dated from that period but a group of cairns near Ghalilah and some long gabled graves in the Shimal area to the north-east of the date-groves behind Ras a1 Khaimah (map, FIG. I) clearly represented a more distant past.
