A bronze-gilt belt mount kept in the Finland’s National Board of Antiquities (Helsinki) from I. P. Tovostin’s collection of antiquities from the Minusinsk Depression is introduced into scientific discourse. It is a unique item because of its decoration featuring a narrative scene related to a Buddhist myth (Fig. 1). No analogies to this narrative scene are known. The paper examines analogies to the iconographic elements of the scene (Fig. 2; 3), and provides interpretation of the meaning of symbolic images. The narrative scene is benevolent in its character and initially might have had a more religious significance. Based on the distinctive features of the production technology, the item has been attributed to the artifacts of the Khitan circle (Liao Empire) and tentatively dated to the 10th – early 11th centuries.

The term ‘Eurasia' is an ambiguous concept that includes in different studies: ‘Greater Eurasia', which is associated with the Eurasian continent; ‘Central Eurasia' as a post-Soviet space; and the term Eurasia can be associated with specific integration projects in Eurasia, such as Eurasian Economic Union. This chapter defines Eurasian regionalism and prospects for its development. Authors analyze modern scientific discourse around Eurasian integration and Eurasian regionalism. They examine modern approaches to regionalism and identify some of the distinctive features of the construction of regions.

The article discusses a method for dealing with non-stationary natural and simulating interference in intelligent surveillance radars. When creating simulating marks, the introduction of amplitude modulation into the relayed radar sounding signal is used. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to find out that in the imitating noise, in this case, the so-called "intelligent" fluctuations of the burst structure of false marks appear, which differ from the fluctuations of the packs of real marks and can be easily detected by a human operator. The method is based on the definition of semantic components at the stage of formation and analysis of a symbolic model of amplitude fluctuations of a burst of signals from non-stationary natural and simulating interference and from real moving objects. In this case, the semantic features of amplitude fluctuations are determined by solving predicate equations for transforming these fluctuations into symbolic images of noise marks and real mobile aircraft. As a result of semantic analysis of the amplitude fluctuations of the burst in the time domain, classification distinctive features of fluctuations in the burst of signals from natural imitating noise and air objects were obtained. The semantic components of the decision-making algorithm are investigated, which are similar to the decision-making algorithms by a human operator. Process knowledge of transforming radar signals into symbolic images of amplitude fluctuations of a burst in the time domain is formalized. The formalization of the processing of symbolic images includes a system of predicate equations, by solving which the types of amplitude fluctuations of the burst are identified. Based on the results of experimental data, the transformations of real radar signals into symbolic images of burst fluctuations were carried out on the basis of the algebra of finite predicates. The authors also managed to propose these transformations to be used as the basis of an effective toolkit for obtaining classification distinctive features of packet fluctuations from interference and from aircraft.

I II в. н. э. I II в. н. э., а возможно, по III в. включительно. A hammered copper cauldron was discovered as a chance find near the village of Berezovka in the Vorobyevsky district, Voronezh Region. The aim of this paper is to introduce this rare find into scientific discourse. The task of this paper is to search for analogies of the cauldron, determine its type, cultural attribution and chronological positions. The methods employed by the study included determination of the type of the item on the basis of analogies comparative analysis and synthesis. As the results of the study demonstrate, this hammered copper cauldron discovered near Berezovka is referred to the debelt type of cauldrons singled out by B. A. Rayev. Compared to the known cauldrons of this type, this cauldron has a number of specific traits and shows more similarities with cauldrons from Pompeii. The second half of the 1st 2nd centuries is the most likely period when such cauldrons were used. However, the timeline when these cauldrons were in use is probably longer and includes the second half of the 2nd 3rd centuries AD as well. This type of cauldrons has been found in the tombs of the Sarmatian elite. The Berezovka cauldron is a unique item in terms of some of its traits, it finds analogies in Pompeii. This cauldron was owned by the Sarmatians during the second half the 1st 2nd centuries and, possibly, up to and including the 3rd century.

Abstract The convincing argument that Brette makes for the neural coding metaphor as imposing one view of brain behavior can be further explained through discourse analysis. Instead of a unified view, we argue, the coding metaphor's plasticity, versatility, and robustness throughout time explain its success and conventionalization to the point that its rhetoric became overlooked.

Cat extraocular muscles consist of two regions: orbital, and global. The orbital region contains predominantly small diameter fibers, while the global region contains a variety of fibers of different diameters. The differences in ultrastructural features among these muscle fibers indicate that the extraocular muscles of cats contain at least five structurally distinguishable types of fibers.Superior rectus muscles were studied by light and electron microscopy, mapping the distribution of each fiber type with its distinctive features. A mixture of 4% paraformaldehyde and 4% glutaraldehyde was perfused through the carotid arteries of anesthetized adult cats and applied locally to exposed superior rectus muscles during the perfusion.

This article summarizes and highlights the benefits of international interprofessional collaboration amongst speech-language pathologists (SLPs). The California Speech-Language and Hearing Association (CSHA) was invited by the National Board of Education of Finland to participate in an academic/educational exchange with educators, SLPs, and medical practitioners. SLPs globally are experiencing shared interests, practice issues, training challenges, outreach opportunities and limitations, shortages, interprofessional collaboration and education challenges and successes, and the desire to network and learn from each other. This article will describe the benefits of academic/educational exchange opportunities for our profession and possible outcomes for global networking.
