Tinnitus is a common otologic symptom and probably the most troublesome. Tinnitus causes a number of physical and psychological consequences, that interfere with the quality of life of the patient. Many authors believe that the presence of tinnitus in children is a matter of lesser importance than in adults because it is met less frequently and would be a fleeting symptom, inoffensive for them (Graham, 1981). In addition, the prevalence of tinnitus during adolescence and even in young adults is increasing, possibly as a consequence of the increased ambient noise (Bulbul SF, Shargorodsky J). Various therapeutic approaches have generated different results, which led us to consider the role of psychological factors, hence the need to underline the particularities of this symptom in childhood.

The research was conducted with the aim of understanding the far-reaching psychological consequences of the war that took place in the territory of former Yugoslavia (1991-1995). The study examines the relationships between wartime traumatic experience of loss, the quality of life and mental health, and the role of social support across three categories of respondents: the first consisting of the respondents who had lost a close family member in the war and whose remains have not been found to date; the second category consisting of the persons who had lost a close family member in the war, and the third category including the respondents who participated in the war socialization but did not experience the loss of a close family member in the war. The survey used the Psychosomatic symptoms lists, the Depression Symptoms Questionnaire, the Subjective Happiness Scale, the Life Satisfaction Scale, and the Social Support Significance Assessment Scale. The results show that the respondents who continue to search for the body of a missing family member have a lower quality of life than the other two categories of respondents, as well as a more pronounced presence of depressive and psychosomatic symptoms. The role of social support in the trauma recovery process remains unclear. The results of the study are discussed in relation to completed and prolonged traumatic loss, and point to further research into the complex emotional dynamics as a consequence of war socialization and the importance of professional psychological support.

Abstract Gynecological cancers are among the leading causes of cancer-associated mortality worldwide. While the number of cases are rising, current therapeutic approaches are not efficient enough. There are considerable side-effects as well as treatment resistant types. In addition, which all make the treatment complicated for afflicted cases. Therefore, in order to improve efficacy of the treatment process and patients’ quality of life, searching for novel adjuvant treatments is highly warranted. Curcumin, a promising natural compound, is endowed with numerous therapeutic potentials including significant anticancer effects. Recently, various investigations have demonstrated the anticancer effects of curcumin and its novel analogues on gynecological cancers. Moreover, novel formulations of curcumin have resulted in further propitious effects. This review discusses these studies and highlights the possible underlying mechanisms of the observed effects.

The article shows the key role of IL-17 in the psoriasis pathogenesis and the opportunities of its management via monoclonal antibodies product secukinumab. The review of international randomized trials on clinical efficacy and safety of genetically engineered biologic drug secukinumab in children and adolescents with psoriasis is presented. During treatment periods of 12 to 52 weeks, secukinumab has shown high therapeutic efficacy for psoriasis severity and skin lesion areas and has improved quality of life of children and adolescents according to dynamic assessments of PASI, IGA 0/1 mod 2011 indices, CDLQI questionnaire. The safety profile of secukinumab in children is estimated as favorable and comparable to using it in adults.

Fatigue is a common symptom associated with vasculitis and contributes significantly to impaired quality of life. Motivational control theory suggests a role for perseverative cognition and goal adjustment in fatigue. Therefore, this study investigated these potential predictors of fatigue in individuals with vasculitis. A total of 249 participants completed online questionnaires assessing fatigue, perseverative cognition, goal disengagement and goal reengagement, in addition to demographic and disease-related variables. Hierarchical regression analysis found only pain, sleep disturbance, disease activity and perseverative cognition to significantly predict fatigue. This highlights the importance of psychological factors in determining fatigue in those with vasculitis.
