Introduction Even with paramedicine's evolution, clinical decision-making will always be a crucial learning and teaching requirement. As part of their learning, paramedic students need to develop critical thinking and collaborative approaches with others. The aim was to review the literature around escape room activity as a pedagogical approach for paramedic education. The intent is to contribute to the discussion around authentic and engaging approaches to teaching clinical thinking and decision making in paramedicine. Methods A systematic review was undertaken to review existing literature on using this approach in higher education. EBSCO, Medline, CINAHL, ScienceDirect, ProQuest and PubMed were used to review paramedic and health education strategies using a list of keywords. Results There were 23 scholarly papers examining the use of escape rooms in an educational context found. There was no reference to using this teaching methodology in paramedicine, but some health contexts were identified for nursing, pharmacy, radiology and medicine. Conclusion With an instructional design that addresses logistical requirements, educational escape rooms can be used effectively in paramedic higher education. This review highlights a longitudinal study is needed to assess an educational escape room's implementation into the paramedic higher education curriculum. A longitudinal, multi-university study can further explore the feasibility of using a blended online/offline escape room activity in large enrolment paramedic programs.

The article presents the experience of developing and using the digital simulators in teaching and learning at a pedagogical university. Testing the innovative technologies in the course of teachers’ training enables to conclude that this tool is effective when acquiring the professional competencies. The simulators, including the virtual ones, ensure modeling the pedagogical activity in terms of the principles of the activity approach. The analytical part of the article includes the content of the assessment criteria when planning and giving the classes on a digital simulator. The criteria for assessing the operations of a university student on the simulator are consistent with the requirements for the learning outcomes of schoolchildren. The results obtained confirm the relation between the labor operations performed by future teachers and the requirements established by the Federal State Educational Standards for universal learning skills (cognitive, communicative, and regulatory). The content of these requirements involves skills at searching for the study material and assuming the position of an active subject. The requirements content is consistent with the criteria for assessing the operations of the future teacher. The results of testing the simulator enable to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using a digital simulator in teachers’ training. Its use may involve making some changes in Teaching Methodology at a pedagogical university.

The authors analyzed the standpoints of foreign scholars concerning the contribution of students’ semiotic work into the educational process, determined the peculiarities of perception of authentic and educational texts as social communication acts and established the ways of revising the approaches to the formation of a language individual. The students’ awareness about the For this reason, text analysis and other types of text activities (transformation, collapsing and expanding) are extensively used in the process of teaching Ukrainian and foreign languages. The authors established that integration of foundations of social semiotics into the process of teaching languages should envisage the transformation of the principles of language teaching methodology, altering approaches to teaching thereof, designing new programs and criteria for selecting teaching resources.

A graduate-level course in dysphagia is an integral part of the graduate curriculum in speech-language pathology. There are many challenges to meeting the needs of current graduate student clinicians, thus requiring the instructor to explore alternatives. These challenges, suggested paradigm shifts, and potential available solutions are explored. Current trends, lack of evidence for current methods, and the variety of approaches to teaching the dysphagia course are presented.
