In regard to knowledge economy, the current concept in the model construction of online education, including distance education and online learning, generally refers to a kind of network-based learning behavior, similar to the concept of online training. Compared with traditional offline education methods, through the application of information technology and internet technology for content dissemination and rapid learning, online education has the characteristics of high efficiency, convenience, low threshold, and rich teaching resources. Online education covers a wide range of people, different forms of learning, and its classification methods are more diverse. Online education services are the fastest growing field of education informatization. At the moment, the most pressing problems include effectively integrating educational resources with internet technology, launching online education services and products that are highly interactive and would encourage personalized learning, increasing user stickiness, as well as avoiding trend-following and conceptualized investment.

In recent decades, technological advances have revolutionized all areas of society, including the teaching resources and methodologies used in education. The relevance of pedagogical technologies in vocational education cannot be overemphasized, since technologies are constantly changing in today's environment, thus creating new challenges for modern education in globalization. The research aims are to establish patterns for promoting the implementation of pedagogical technologies in educational institutions for providing quality competent training of specialists in professional education. Research methods: comparative analysis; survey; systematization, generalization. As a result of the survey was established that pedagogical technologies positively influence the provision of competent training of specialists in Ukrainian professional education (89.7%), a smaller number of students (7.5%) were not sure about the quality of competent training of specialists in Ukrainian professional education with modern pedagogical technologies. It was determined that the students of educational institutions are most familiar with such pedagogical technologies as mobile learning (100%), e-learning (98%), independent learning (90%), virtual classroom (85%), and massive open online courses (MOOC) (71%). The study found that teachers need to improve digital competency from technologies such as Gamification and Next Generation Digital Learning Environment (NGDLE). Based on statistical data, it was found that the need for competent specialists in vocational education in the labor market is increasing every year, while those willing to study at vocational education institutions are decreasing every year. According to the negative trends, it has been determined that vocational education institutions should improve the educational process to increase the number of future competent specialists for the labor market.

In order to be able to provide learning resources for learners anytime and anywhere and improve the quality of online teaching, a network-assisted teaching system for college students’ ideological and political courses based on the Android system is designed. The characteristics of the Android system platform and its hierarchical structure are analyzed, and the overall structure of the network-assisted teaching system was designed based on it and through the construction of the system user login module, learning resources module, operation management module, unit test module, and teaching interface display module, so as to achieve the effect of network assisted ideological and political course teaching. The preferences of students were fully considered, the needs of students with different resource spaces were matched, and the genetic algorithm is used to share the information of network teaching resources to meet the needs of ideological and political teaching. According to the experimental results, the system designed in this paper has high accuracy in the recommended content of ideological and political education resources and the coverage of resource recommendation is relatively high, indicating that the application effect of the system is better.

The study aims to explore the roles of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) based on deep learning in college students’ English grammar teaching. The data are collected using a survey. After the experimental data are analyzed, it is found that students have a low sense of happiness and satisfaction and are unwilling to practice oral English and learn language points in English learning. They think that college English learning only meets the needs of CET-4 and CET-6 and does not take it as the ultimate learning goal. After the necessity and problems in English grammar teaching are discussed, the advantages of flipped classrooms of MOOCs are discussed in English grammar teaching. A teaching platform is constructed to study the foreign language teaching mode under MOOCs, and classroom teaching is combined with the advantages of MOOCs following the principle of “teaching students according to their personalities” to improve the listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation skills of foreign language majors. The results show that high-quality online teaching resources and the deep learning-based teaching environment can provide a variety of interactive tools, by which students can communicate with their peers and teachers online. Sharing open online communication, classroom discussion, and situational simulation can enhance teachers’ deep learning ability, like the ability to communication and transfer thoughts. Constructivism with interaction as the core can help students grasp new knowledge easily. Extensive communication and interaction are important ways for learning and thinking. The new model provides students with profound learning experience, expands the teaching resources of MOOCs around the world, and maximizes the interaction between online and offline teachers and students, making knowledge widely rooted in the campus and realizing the combination of online resources and campus classroom teaching. Students can learn the knowledge through autonomous learning and discussion before class, which greatly broadens the learning time and space. In the classroom and after class, the internalization and sublimation of knowledge are completed through group cooperation, inquiry learning, scenario simulation, display, and evaluation, promoting students to know about new knowledge and highlighting the dominant position of students.

With the increasing abundance of network teaching resources, the recommendation technology based on network is becoming more and more mature. There are differences in the effect of recommendation, which leads to great differences in the effect of recommendation algorithms for teaching resources. The existing teaching resource recommendation algorithm either takes insufficient consideration of the students’ personality characteristics, cannot well distinguish the students’ users through the students’ personality, and pushes the same teaching resources or considers the student user personality not sufficient and cannot well meet the individualized learning needs of students. Therefore, in view of the above problem, combining TDINA model by the user for the students to build cognitive diagnosis model, we put forward a model based on convolution (CUPMF) joint probability matrix decomposition method of teaching resources to recommend the method combined with the history of the students answer, cognitive ability, knowledge to master the situation, and forgetting effect factors. At the same time, CNN is used to deeply excavate the test question resources in the teaching resources, and the nonlinear transformation of the test question resources output by CNN is carried out to integrate them into the joint probability matrix decomposition model to predict students’ performance on the resources. Finally, the students’ knowledge mastery matrix obtained by TDINA model is combined to recommend corresponding teaching resources to students, so as to improve learning efficiency and help students improve their performance.

Visual images are increasingly appearing in learning and teaching resources, delivered across a range of media in a variety of formats: digitally Web-based material and multimedia as well as print and as transparencies. The proliferation of image-rich resources is due to the wide availability of digital images and access to the technology and graphics software that facilitates the creation and delivery of visual materials. The main aim of this research is to investigate the role of visual stimuli in enhancing writing skills among USM undergraduates who are taking Tamil as foreign language. Writing is an important skill often emphasized among foreign language learners. However, most foreign language learners face difficulties to pen down their thoughts. The respondents of this research are pursuing LAT 300 (Tamil Language III) course at the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation and are divide into two groups, experimental and control group. The methods used is written assignment; topic with visual stimuli for experimental group and topic without stimuli for control group. The written assignments were graded using the university’s grading rubric. In the questionnaire, the respondents were also asked to give feedback on the use of visual stimuli in writing. The findings of this study revealed that the experimental group performed better as they were given visuals. The experimental group respondents highlighted that they needed stimuli to motivate and trigger their background knowledge on the essay topics. It is hoped that this study will aid language teachers and practitioners to utilize visuals as a support in the teaching of Tamil Language as foreign language.

The exponential growth of English-medium instruction (EMI) programs in higher education has driven to the search for new and innovative teaching resources and techniques to facilitate the teaching and learning of disciplinary content matter through a non-native language. During the last years, gamification has emerged as a great tool when it comes to foster students' motivation and, consequently, favour their learning. There are numerous ways of introducing gamification in the classroom and a high number of resources and tools available for teachers to design and implement gamification proposals. One of these tools is Classcraft, an online role-playing platform that allows the teacher to turn the classroom into a real role-playing scenario. This chapter will explore the benefits of including gamification—and more specifically Classcraft—for EMI in higher education. Exhaustive guidelines are described in order to serve as a base for EMI lecturers to implement gamification in their courses.
