Introduction This research investigated universities registered with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) whose primary instructional language was English. A content analysis was performed on university web pages related to the following content: (a) frequency of graduate programs being offered, (b) types of degrees being offered, (c) frequency and variation of program of study offerings, (d) variation of exit requirements, and (e) modalities of course delivery. This research provides an overview and analysis of graduate level programs, more precisely Masters and Doctorate degrees, offered through faculties of education in Canada. An understanding of the findings of this research may benefit Canadian university administrative bodies in providing a source in which they may compare findings with their current offerings and programming. Prospective students of graduate programs in education may also benefit from the information provided in this study when choosing a program of study by ameliorating their knowledge of current programs, curriculum offerings, and modes of course delivery being offered by faculties of education in Canada.

This study examines peer interaction and peer assistance observed in on an online forum, part of a graduate level instructional design course during the 2008 spring academic term. It incorporates both content analysis and social network analysis techniques. The content analysis results showed that the four types of peer assistance adopted from an existing framework were adequate to categorize the peer assistance that the students received during the study. Students tended to receive more Reflective assistance from their peers if their reading reflections provided high relevance to the course projects. Social network analysis results revealed that while 70% of the students provided peer assistance to one another, they were less likely to go beyond the course requirement of posting toward to end of the semester. Also, a further analysis demonstrated how SNA approach may help examine the influences of actor attributes on their observed communication.

Online courses present a new element to learners in college courses. Interfaces (web pages) take the place of an instructor as the primary information delivery system. In other words, a student’s learning experience is now tied to the quality of a course’s human- computer interaction. One emerging method of online course delivery is an adaptive course that tailors to individual students needs, abilities, or preferences. There has been much work done on the algorithms that allow the course to adapt to individual students, but there seems to be a lack of research into the usability of these interfaces and how their quality affects student performance and satisfaction. This paper presents some of the data that was collected in a larger, grant-supported project and establishes relationships between usability metrics (ease of use and perceived usefulness) and student satisfaction and outcome measures in adaptive-online courses.

The European Commission’s Europe 2020 strategy calls for the enhancement the attractiveness of vocational education and training. This article aims to disclose and critically discuss the requirements defined in legislation of Lithuania for advertising VET services with reference to the context of the improvement of the VET image in society. It seeks to determine the requirements stipulated in legislation of Lithuania for advertising VET services and to evaluate the information on admissions to institutions of vocational education and training on their web pages according to the criterion of truthfulness of advertising. The article may be useful for professionals who work or will work with marketing communication in the future. It can be used as a manual of how to inform customers about VET services properly. The methods applied in this research are content analysis of scientific literature and legal documents, linguistic, comparative, systematic and logical interpretation methods of law, and a qualitative content analysis used for the case study. The content of the training service and not the subjective image is the actual marketing object, because the content provides an advantage that ensures good market positions in increasingly competitive market of VET provision. The image of initial vocational education is determined not so much by the actions of society, but by the vocational training systems themselves, or more specifically by the targeted efforts of its participants to improve the quality of initial vocational education, responding to the public challenges and communicating this message to the interested audiences in the communication process.

Today, there are 41 universities offering graduate education programs in architecture. Those programs cover a number of different topics including architectural conservation and restoration, architectural restoration, architectural design, informatics in architectural design, architectural planning and design, architecture history, architectural history and theory, architecture and built environment, digital design in architecture and production. The council of higher education presents that 2978 master theses submitted and approved by Council of higher education.  In this study, the master theses submitted to the graduate programs have been investigated. Matrix has been developed regarding o the sex, language, topics, universities. The types of graduate school are natural science and social science. The results of the study show that the number of female students is higher than the male students. The number of theses in Turkish is increasing. The increasing number of theses investigating build technology builds physics and building and construction and computational design is of importance. It is possible to determine that the current and popular topics of Turkish graduate programs in Architecture are in parallel with the prevailing agenda of World architecture. Professional ethics are critical in guiding how professionals conduct themselves as they apply their knowledge for providing services to the public. Therefore it should be without question that during education, professional degree seeking students should be taught ethics pertaining to their field of study. However, in many graduate programs in the field of engineering sciences throughout the country, professional ethics is not required for a degree, particularly beyond undergraduate degrees. A study was performed in 2006 polling some major universities, covering most of the geographical areas and states of the United States, on the content of their graduate engineering programs pertaining to professional ethics. The results showed that only a very small percentage of universities had a full course or a subject of a course pertaining to professional ethics. These numbers reflect a significant shortage in the students’ education on how to perform in a professional setting. Five years later in 2011, the same universities were polled again to see if any change has been made to improve the ethics education at the graduate level. The data showed a small increase in the number of schools mentioning professional ethics at the graduate level, but the numbers are still very low. This paper covers the poll results along with an analysis of the findings and attempts to explore the reasons behind this lack of emphases on ethics education in engineering at the graduate level. It also discusses what Universities should be teaching students in regards to professional ethics. The analysis includes skills needed in industry as well as the supporting arguments for the importance of ethics education.
