This paper analyses the role and significance of the endowments for the UK higher education system. We have systematised the metrics commonly used to measure the performance of the academic endowments. To collect the data about universities and colleges, we exploited the data provided by the HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) that collect and disseminate UK higher education data and the data provided by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. The size of the university and colleges endowments is valued using their respective financial statements, using endowment reserve account of the balance sheet. The academic endowments linked with the UK universities and colleges are estimated to be worth £15.8 billion in 2020. According to the number of the endowments linked with universities and colleges endowments, they play a significant role in the UK higher education system. However, there is a notable difference concerning endowment size between the few most reputable academic institutions and other universities and colleges. For example, the two largest endowments (the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge with accompanied colleges endowments) in 2020 had a share of 75% measured by the size of the endowment assets. Moreover, this 75% has been stable during the last several years. In addition, the UK academic endowments are much smaller than their US counterparts and thus generally have lesser significance for the UK higher education system, while they may play a significant role for particular institutions. The endowment size per student has also been much smaller in the UK than in the US. Except for the six universities and colleges, the share of the income coming from endowments and donations in the total income has been relatively low, 2% or less. Considering the long history and tradition of the endowments in England, their role in the UK higher education system is deeply rooted. However, with their historical performance and significance for some higher education providers, there is an opportunity for a more prominent role in the future.

The establishment of national experimental teaching demonstration centers (NETDCs) in China has played an important role in improving the experimental teaching level in universities and colleges, promoting scientific research, and cultivating innovative talents for national- and region-level innovations. However, how to promote the sustainable development of NETDCs in China is becoming a critical issue. This paper constructs a new theoretical model for evaluating the sustainable development of NETDCs in China. This model consists of 5 dimensions (i.e., environmental, structural, human, teaching, and output entropies), 11 primary indicators, and 34 secondary indicators. A multidimensional scale for evaluating the sustainable development of NETDCs was developed and validated based on 24,483 questionnaires from 895 NETDCs in China. The results show that the development level and overall level of NETDCs in China for all 11 primary indicators are uneven. Policy measures for promoting the sustainable development of NETDCs are proposed and discussed.

Prior to the pandemic, two-thirds of universities and colleges administered courses in the traditional face-to-face setting. After the abrupt change due to the pandemic, educators submerged themselves in virtual pedagogy and forged ahead in preparing the future workforce. An area that may have been overlooked was ensuring the learning environment remained diverse, equitable, and inclusive for all learners. Vital to students matriculating through programs and entering the healthcare workforce is recognizing and understanding student learning styles and having an ecological glimpse of circumstances that may affect their learning. Employing the intersectionality framework to explore inequities exacerbated by students' identities is a starting point. Implementing strategic priorities and DEI practices to decrease the equity gap that exists in the healthcare system and higher education institutions is essential. Health profession educators play a unique role in serving as change agents for future healthcare professionals who have a direct impact on health outcomes.

In order to solve the reliability of the evaluation results of teaching quality in universities and colleges, an improved model of teaching evaluation based on the Support vector machine was put forward. In this model, the evaluator does not need to give an evaluation result of the teacher’s teaching quality, but gives the score of each evaluation index, and then calls the Support vector machine, automatic classification of teachers’ teaching quality. The experiment proves that the improved algorithm can improve the teaching quality evaluation accuracy and the result is better.

Successful professional activity of future teachers, bachelors and specialists of physical culture and sports is determined not only by the presence of a certain level of knowledge, skills and abilities, but also by the formation of such personal components as goals, motivation, abilities, stress resistance. Accordingly, a pedagogical problem arises, which consists in creating pedagogical technologies and appropriate conditions necessary for the effective formation of personal and professional qualities of future specialists in the field of physical culture and sports. Based on this problem, the purpose of this article is to determine the initial level and state of professional and personal qualities of students of sports universities as a factor of their readiness for future professional activity (using the example of the specialization volleyball and basketball of the Volga State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism). The authors hypothesized that the level of formation of certain personal qualities is important in the preparation and training of students of specialized sports universities for future activities. To confirm this hypothesis, a study was conducted using the methods of PSM-25 Lemur-Tessier-Fillion, T. Ehlers, D.A. Leontiev. The results obtained revealed that the type of sport and the level of sports qualifications affect the manifestation and formation of personal professional qualities of students of a sports university. The above study confirms the need for pedagogical support of the process of formation of professional and personal qualities, including stress resistance in students of sports universities (on the example of specialization volleyball and basketball). The article is intended for teaching staff working in the field of training students of sports universities and colleges.

This study aimed to determine the influence of leadership behaviour on organizational culture among the academic deans of state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Panay Island, Philippines. The 125 purposively selected academic deans who responded during the conduct of the study were the respondents of this investigation. Two (2) adapted research instruments were utilised to gather data, accompanied by an information sheet. Frequency counts, percentages, means, and standard deviations were used for descriptive analysis, while the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis set at 0.05 alpha level were employed for inferential analysis. The results of the study showed that the respondents possessed very high levels of "pioneering/visionary", "team facilitation", and "encouraging/coaching" leadership behaviours, while also possessing high levels of leadership behaviours in being "strategic", "management/administrative", and "relational/social". The respondents had a very great extent of the practice of organizational culture in all the four organizational culture traits. According to the findings, there were positive, significant correlations between each type of leadership behaviour and organizational culture. Furthermore, "management/administrative" and "encouraging/coaching" leadership behaviours significantly impact organizational culture. In conclusion, academic deans should encourage "management/administrative" and "encouraging/coaching" behaviours in themselves as well as their constituents to strengthen and enhance the extent of the practice of organizational culture in the institution. These appear to be powerful mechanisms for the organization to rapidly adapt to changing institutional demands, remain competitive, and maintain high levels of performance and effectiveness.
