Currently, large oil palm plantations are cultivated on ultisol. Ultisol has various constraints in its utilization for the cultivation of plants, because it has high exchangeable Al, low pH, low soil organic nutrient contained, and soil nutrients such as N, P, K, Ca, Mg.  Large quantities and continuous fertilizer are needed for a long time. To solve these problems required to look for alternative fertilizers. These alternative fertilizers are expected to reduce the use of synthetic fertilizers without decreasing production and are available forever. Efforts to produce that location organic matter are the right choice. Tithonia can be grown in the form of alley cropping at young palm plantations. A series of experiments have been conducted at Andalas University experimental farm in Padang, West  Sumatra Province. This study used the Factorial design.  The treatments are tithonia compost and Lime application. There are 3 rd compost doses in 3 replication each treatment. The experimental obtained that tithonia compost dosage 25% and 50% + 25% and 50% synthetic fertilizer were changed soil chemical properties such as increased 0.94 units soil pH, availability of nutrient contained; 6.22% C-organic, 0.25% N-total, 0.37me/100g   exchangeable K, 2.74 me/100g exchangeable-Ca, 0.29 me/100g exchangeable-Mg, in the soil, as well as the decrease of exchangeable Al. Furthermore supporting plant growth such as (plant height, plant length,  and the number of the leaf).  Liming not significantly different for soil chemical properties and growth of oil palm. The higher the compost dose is given the better the growth of oil palms. Cultivation of tithonia as alley cropping at oil palm plantation  can be used as composite materials for synthetic fertilizer substitute source N and K

ABSTRACTAnalyse of soil chemical properties in the encriment of oil palm production on sandy soil at Selangkun oli palm plantationSoil is one of basic components in the development of oil palm plantation. Limitation of land causes many companies expand their areas to the sub-optimal land, such as sandy soil. This research was aimed to analyzed chemical soil properties and its relation with bunch number and bunch weight in oil palm plantation, Arut Selatan sub-district, Central Kalimantan. Survey was made in sample points that were determined based on grid system, and each sample was taken in the depth of 30 cm. This research was descriptive and used double regression equation with backward-stepwise method. Several parameters have been analyzed, such as pH, organic carbon, CEC, total N, total P, P-availability, K, Ca, Mg, Cu, Zn, Mn, and B. The result showed that the pH was categorized acid, macro nutrients were medium to very low, except total P and P-availability, while micro nutrients were enough, except boron which had very high amount. Furthermore, statistical analysis showed that some chemical properties, such as total N, CEC, and exchangeable Al were parameters which influenced production of bunch number per oil palm plant.Keywords: Oil palm, Soil nutrient, Sandy soilABSTRAKTanah merupakan salah satu komponen dasar dalam pembangunan perkebunan kelapa sawit. Keterbatasan lahan menyebabkan banyaknya perusahaan yang memperluas areal perkebunan ke lahan sub-optimal, seperti tanah pasir. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji sifat-sifat kimia yang ada pada tanah pasir dan hubungannya dengan produksi tandan per pohon dan berat tandan rata-rata tanaman kelapa sawit di kecamatan Arut Selatan, Kalimantan Tengah. Survei dilakukan pada titik sampel didasarkan pada metode grid, dan sampel diambil pada kedalaman 30 cm. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dan menggunakan model persamaan regresi berganda metode backward-stepwise. Beberapa parameter yang dianalisis adalah pH, C-organik, KTK, N-total, P-total, P-tersedia, K, Ca, Mg, Cu, Zn, Mn, dan B. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pH tanah tergolong rendah, kandungan hara makro berkisar sedang sampai sangat rendah, kecuali P-total dan P-tersedia, sementara kandungan hara mikronya cukup, kecuali boron yang tergolong tinggi. Sifat kimia tanah seperti N-total, KTK, dan Al-dd merupakan parameter yang meningkatkan jumlah tandan per pohon.Kata Kunci: Kelapa sawit, Hara tanah, Tanah pasir

The study of replanting models for smallholding oil palm plantation analysis is focus on smallholders and cooperatives' readiness assessment involves in replanting and business development program. The research objects are four oil palm plantantion cooperatives (KPS) in Ophir, West Pasam: KPS Perintis, KPS Indah, KPS Maju and KPS Makmur. Smallholders readiness in replanting and business development program was assessed through three criterias, which are ability to repay of debt, good faith to join community, and cooperative capacity. The results showed that smallholders in KPS Ophir are basically ready and feasible in obtaining financing and follow the oil palm replanting program, but access to financing and regulations that requires avalis become constrains for the smallholders.

This study was to determine the carrying capacity of palm oil plantation and oil palm industry waste could be used as beef cattle feed in West Sumatra. This study used a desk study method, it was the activity that searched secondary data such as the results of other relevant studies, official documents and other important records in several government agencies and other relevant institutions. The analysis showed people carrying capacity of palm oil plantations folk in West Sumatra with the utilization of forage, leaves no stick and palm frond as cattle feed as a whole can accommodate about 390 913 head of cattle. While carrying capacity of byproduct of palm oil processing wastes amounted to 465 812 head of cattle. Overall, therefore, the palm oil plantation folk, the state and the private sector is able to provide beef cattle feed to 856 725 head of cattle. It concluded that beef cattle still have a chancethe to be developed by use oil palm plantation and byproducts as a substitute for forages.Key words: oil palm plantation, carrying capacity, oil palm industry waste, beef cattle feed

<p>Land sustainability could be influenced by management decisions, soil nutrients content, and soil erosion potential. This study evaluates the management that consist on two sources of nitrogen (cattle beef manure, M; and synthetic fertilizer, F) and two levels of residue removal (0% and 80%) on corn yield and soil chemical properties in a no-tillage irrigated field. The study was initiated in 2011 in Tribune, Kansas where the nitrogen treatments and residue removal were organized in randomized strip design with four replications. After Seven years of annual M addition, corn yield and soil chemical properties significantly increased compared with synthetic fertilizer. Annual residue removal at 80% level greatly reduced soil chemical properties measured especially STN, SOC, and soil P availability for subsequent crops. Residue removal at 80% show a potential to decrease soil EC compared with 0% removal, but the EC reduction was not significant. The data generated from this study shows that soil nutrients content was reduced with removing the residue even in irrigated and well fertilized field unless organic amendment was accompanied the residue removal practice.</p>

The State of the Republic of Indonesia is a legal state which is contained in Article 1 Paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution, in the rule of law, the power in running the Government based on the rule of law, in Indonesia there have been many cooperation agreements in the field of plantation, in the establishment of plantation based on the principle legal certainty to protect the parties in the cooperation agreement between BUMD and PT.MTL where in the plantation management agreement is not running smoothly, causing conflict between the community with PT.MTL party. Based on the above issues, what is the legal relationship between the parties in the oil palm plantation cooperation agreement, how is the legal effect on the community rights in the oil palm plantation cooperation agreement, how is the legal protection of the community within the palm oil plantation agreement. This research is juridical sociological with the nature of research is descriptive analytical. Processing is done by editing and then analyzed by using qualitative analysis methode. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that (1) the occurrence of civil relation between the parties based on the cooperation agreement between BUMD and PT.MTL and letter of land delivery between the community and BUMD (2) due to law on community land in this cooperation agreement the transition of rights, from public property rights to State land. (3) the absence of legal protection of community land that has been submitted to the BUMD to be granted the Right to Use Enterprises
