The construction of embodied conversational agents – robots as well as avatars – seem to be a new challenge in the field of both cognitive AI and human-computer-interface development. On the one hand, one aims at gaining new insights in the development of cognition and communication by constructing intelligent, physical instantiated artefacts. On the other hand people are driven by the idea, that humanlike mechanical dialog-partners will have a positive effect on human-machine-communication. In this contribution I put for discussion whether the visions of scientist in this field are plausible and which problems might arise by the realization of such projects.

Materialism and sich are the driving spirit of the community in achieving economic and financial security that saves a holistic and socially just welfare. This can be seen from the lives of people in materialistic developed countries, where the level of social stress is higher, economic inequality widens, horizontal conflict is rife. This research uses Pierre Felix Bourdieu's social theory in seeing people trust the expenditure of material with other values, such as spiritual and cultural values that are no less urgent as elements of social welfare development. This study found that materialism on the one hand has a positive effect, where people are encouraged to use material standards in measuring the level of welfare they expect. On the other hand, materialism closes the presence of values such as spirituality, local wisdom and agriculture in completing more holistic welfare standards.

Haptic roughness is basic to accurately identifying the texture of an object. When we manipulate everyday objects, their surfaces emit sound. Cross-modal effects between haptic and auditory roughness must thus be considered in realizing a multimodal human-computer interface. We conducted two experiments to accumulate basic data for the cross-modality using a force feedback device. In one experiment, we studied the cross-modal effect of auditory roughness on haptic roughness. We studied the effect of haptic roughness on auditory roughness in the other experiment. Results showed that cross-modal effects were mutually enhancing when their single-modal roughness was relatively high.

A number of aspects of the change of the political and economic relations, apparent by the sanctions policy of the western states to the Russian Federation and its realization, has been considered. The balance between the liberty, equality and fraternity, the perfect competition and free business, on the one hand, and the competition of smothering, ball and chain, on the other hand, – has been disclosed. It has been substantiated, that the western states seek to substitute the colonial influence in the past for sanctions pressure in our days. It allows them to get not only the competitive advantage, but also to obtain the absolute dictatorship sometimes. The conclusion has been made, that external intervention in the natural course of managing and especially the rough administrative influence never gives a positive effect.

Objectives: To assess the effect of EVES (Education for a Healthy and Efficient Voice), a voice training program aimed at promoting the use of an efficient and healthy voice in teachers. Sample and Method: Twenty-two teachers in the city of Granollers (Catalonia, Spain) were included in this research. The effect of the EVES program was evaluated focusing on the analysis of physiologic parameters on the one side (stroboscopy analysis), and on perceptual parameters on the other (Q-EVES questionnaire, Voice Handicap Index-10 [VHI-10], and GRBAS [Grade, Roughness, Breathiness, Asthenia, Strain Scale]). Results: The teachers incorporated the vocal strategies in their professional life and reported that the perception of difficulty in using their voice decreased. We observed a significant improvement in VHI-10 markers, in voice management abilities in the classroom, in perceptive and subjective voice parameters, and in some functional lesions. Conclusions: The results suggest that the educational intervention model may have a positive effect on teachers’ vocal care.

On the one hand, traditional culture plays a very important role in the creation of indoor environment nowadays. On the other hand, the sustainable development of the indoor environment makes the traditional culture to have the vitality again. Diverse and healthy indoor environments can be developed by learning from traditional culture. Traditional thinking and elements and Feng Shui (geomancy) concept subtly permeates modern interior design and makes the indoor environment healthier, more interesting and more vitality.

Deep changes in territorial and commodity structure of foreign trade have arisen after 1989 in Czechia. Economically developed states, especially EU countries, have become significant trade partners of Czechia. On the one hand, export and import of machines and means of transport have increased, on the other hand, export of semi-finished products and materials has decreased. Intense qualitative changes in territorial and commodity structures as well as an increase of foreign trade would be inconceivable (or significantly delayed) without a positive effect of foreign direct investments. Foreign capital has sharpened differences between prospering foreign firms and weak, uncompetitive home enterprises. The aim of this contribution is: a) to deal with the effects of foreign direct investments on the development of foreign trade in Czechia; b) to delineate the main trends in development of foreign trade affected by foreign capital.

The use of speech in human-machine interaction is increasing as the computer interfaces are becoming more complex but also more useable. These interfaces make use of the information obtained from the user through the analysis of different modalities and show a specific answer by means of different media. The origin of the multimodal systems can be found in its precursor, the “Put-That-There” system (Bolt, 1980), an application operated by speech and gesture recognition. The use of speech as one of these modalities to get orders from users and to provide some oral information makes the human-machine communication more natural. There is a growing number of applications that use speech-to-text conversion and animated characters with speech synthesis. One way to improve the naturalness of these interfaces is the incorporation of the recognition of user’s emotional states (Campbell, 2000). This point generally requires the creation of speech databases showing authentic emotional content allowing robust analysis. Cowie, Douglas-Cowie & Cox (2005) present some databases showing an increase in multimodal databases, and Ververidis & Kotropoulos (2006) describe 64 databases and their application. When creating this kind of databases the main arising problem is the naturalness of the locutions, which directly depends on the method used in the recordings, assuming that they must be controlled without interfering the authenticity of the locutions. Campbell (2000) and Schröder (2004) propose four different sources for obtaining emotional speech, ordered from less control but more authenticity to more control but less authenticity: i) natural occurrences, ii) provocation of authentic emotions in laboratory conditions, iii) stimulated emotions by means of prepared texts, and iv) acted speech reading the same texts with different emotional states, usually performed by actors. On the one hand, corpora designed to synthesize emotional speech are based on studies centred on the listener, following the distinction made by Schröder (2004), because they model the speech parameters in order to transmit a specific emotion. On the other hand, emotion recognition implies studies centred on the speaker, because they are related to the speaker emotional state and the parameters of the speech. The validation of a corpus used for synthesis involves both kinds of studies: the former since it will be used for synthesis and the latter since recognition is needed to evaluate its content. The best validation system is the selection of the valid utterances1 of the corpus by human listeners. However, the big size of a corpus makes this process unaffordable.

The new technology is based on the original four-color gill box, and adding the application of the controller. On the one hand, achieve the sliver color’s order can be matched at will, and every single sliver can be changed about the color and length, and the length of changeover portion can be designed easily, so that the final product color can be achieved in a color from deep to shallow gradients, and also can be two colors that is one of them becomes shallow gradually while another color deepened gradually; on the other hand, achieve the ratio of the colored sliver is adjustable without basal sliver feeding. In the other words, on the premise of output sliver thickness to maintain constant, the cross-section’s color of the sliver is ensured to be any independent color of the four feeding sliver colors, you can also have two or more color combinations. Using this new technology to produce the gradient product has been very popular in foreign countries, but is still rare in the domestic market. So this new technology will have positive effect on textile field, it can provide more new opportunities to the textile enterprises.
