Misconception is one of the important problems that often arise in education. The objective of this study is identify misconceptions in the subject of Electricty that occur in prospective teachers. The method used in this research is descriptive method. A total of 25 pre-service physics teacher candidates at a university in the Mataram City were involved in this study. The instrument used in this study was a three-tier test. This study use a total of 40 test items. These questions are classified into two types of representation, namely; verbal and figural. The results showed that 88.1% of prospective physics teachers had misconceptions on Kirchoff's first law, 94.8% misconceptions on Kichoff's second law concept, 91.7% misconceptions on Ohm's Law concept and 85.9% on electrical sources concepts. The results of the study show that 72.3% of prospective physics teachers had misconceptions on verbal type questions and 84.2% misconceptions on figural types

In this study, we present an approach to validating the video-based Observer Extended Research Tool, which empirically captures prospective teachers’ professional vision in a standardized yet contextualized way. We extended the original Observer tool with the aim of providing a reliable, efficient measure for subpopulations in different consecutive phases of teacher education (university and induction phase). Therefore, we expand the measure to include a broader spectrum of knowledge about effective teaching by drawing on a cognitive process-oriented teaching and learning model while at the same time the number of test items is shortened to ensure a economically manageable assessment tool. In the validation study, we tested the extent to which the extension meets the criteria of context validity, reliability, and sensitiveness for different subpopulations. The participants were 317 preservice teachers and teacher candidates who worked with the Observer Extended Research Tool. Measurement quality was investigated using methods of item response theory. Our results confirm that the Observer Extended Research Tool provides a reliable measure of description, explanation, and prediction as aspects of professional vision within and across different subpopulations in teacher education.

A classical model is presented for persistent currents in superconductors. Their existence is argued to be warranted because their decay would violate the second law of thermodynamics. This conclusion is achieved by analyzing comparatively Ohm's law and the Joule effect in normal metals and superconducting materials. Whereas Ohm's law applies in identical terms in both cases, the Joule effect is shown to cause the temperature of a superconducting sample to \textit{decrease}. An experiment is proposed to check the validity of this work in superconductors of both types I and II.

The purposes of this study were first to investigate the effects of the project-based learning (PBL) method and project exhibition event on the success of physics teacher candidates, and second, to reveal the experiment group students’ views toward this learning method and project exhibition. The research model called explanatory mixed method, in which both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. The findings obtained from the research show that there was a significant difference in favor of the experiment group among the point averages of the achievement post-test of the groups. When the findings regarding the questions posed to prospective teachers were examined, it was seen that while they stated that there were a few disadvantages of PBL and project exhibition event, there were many advantages. The results obtained from the quantitative and qualitative data of the research showed that PBL contributed positively to the teaching process and learning characteristics in many aspects.

In agreement with students’ conceptual understanding, identifying of problem solving is an important part of physics. This article is to identify the approach used by students in solving a physics problem. The subject of the research were students of physics education year 2014 in Jambi University who had joined basic physics class. The instruments used in this research were DIRECT (determining and interpreting resistive electric circuit concept test) (Engelhardt & Beichner, 2004). Based on the result, 34,1% students still used the memory based approach in problem solving, 52,3% of them used no clear approach, 4,5% used structured manner, 6,82% used unstructured manner and only 2,27% students used a scientific approach to solving the problem. The result showed that many students used no clear approach and memory based approach to solve the problem. It mean that they did not use physics concept in solving the problem and generally they only used the equation they memorized related to the problem they ever did before.

The subject of SEM saturation was discussed on the microscopy list server and off list I was aslied why filaments burn out on the side leg Instead of at the tip. I have degrees in electronics technology and in chemistry as well as being a microscopist. So I investigated this subject and performed some experiments to verify my results.According to Ohm's Law, one would expect that the highest resistance would be at a sharply bent V’ and that is where the filament would be expected to burn out. However, observations of the phenomenon show this is not where the filament burns out.

The experiment which forms the subject of this communication was originally devised as an illustration of the explanation of all kinds of microphone receivers, suggested by the beautiful experiments of Mr Blyth, on loose contacts. My idea was to replace Mr Blyth's heated point of metal by a continuous portion of the circuit which should act in the same manner. It was obvious, for two reasons, that this part must be of small diameter; 1st, in order that the resistance, per unit of length, might be great enough to make the variation of the heating sufficient to cause sensible longitudinal extension; 2d, in order that the section might be small enough to allow sensible cooling in, say the of a second. I had reason beforehand to believe that the second of these conditions could be fulfilled in practice; because, I found in my experiments on Ohm's Law (Brit. Ass. Rep. 1876, p. 58, et seq.) that, when currents of two different strengths alternated, even with great rapidity (60 times per second) in a fine wire, the resistance was sensibly higher during the passage of the stronger current.
