Background Stress and obesity are interrelated and common among low-income adults. Mind–body interventions have been shown to reduce psychological distress and have been incorporated into many weight loss interventions. However, few of these programs have incorporated a telephone coaching component. Objective We designed and piloted a novel weight loss telephone coaching intervention for this population and examined its effectiveness on weight loss and improvements in health behaviors in obese community health center patients. Methods This was a 6-month, single-arm, prospective, pre–post pilot study. The study took place at a community health center near Boston, Massachusetts. Participants were 27 overweight and obese community health center patients. The intervention consisted of one in-person intake with the registered dietitian, trained in mind–body approaches, and approximately 1 phone coaching session every 2 weeks for 6 consecutive months. Anthropometric data consisted of weight, body mass index (BMI), and blood pressure. Questionnaires consisted of the Perceived Stress Scale-10 item, the CIGNA Healthy Eating Survey, Section H: Behavioral Eating, a physical activity questionnaire, and a nutritional habits questionnaire. We used paired samples t tests to assess pre–post changes in weight, BMI, blood pressure, perceived stress, behavioral eating, and physical activity. We also conducted semistructured exit interviews to learn about participants’ experiences in this program. Results There was a trend toward weight reduction ( P < .1, Cohen’s d = 0.33) and significant improvements in systolic blood pressure ( P = .001, Cohen’s d = 0.72), perceived stress ( P = .001, Cohen’s d = 0.75), and behavioral eating ( P = .009, Cohen’s d = 0.54). Improvements in weight were sustained 6 months after completion of the intervention. Conclusion Results suggest that a telephone nutrition health coaching intervention is feasible and may facilitate weight loss in obese community health center patients. Future randomized-controlled studies are warranted to better understand these improvements. Clinicaltrials.gov registration NCT03025217

Hypertension will often occur in the elderly due to physiological decline and stress will trigger an increase in blood pressure if it lasts a long time it will cause persistent high blood pressure This research aims to know the correlation between stress and blood pressure in elderly with hypertension at the working area of Community Health Center of Kadungora, Garut RegencyThis was a correlational descriptive research which used cross sectional approach and total sampling technique with 116 elderlies who suffer from hypertension. The instrument of the research was DASS (Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale) which consisted of 14 questions and used digital sphygmomanometer to measure the blood pressure. The results of this study were obtained the normal category stress  32 respondens (27,6%), mild stress 45 respondents (38.8%), moderate stress 29 respondents (25.0%) and severe stress 10 respondents (8.6 %). The results of blood pressure 130-139 mmHg / 80-89 mmHg were 30 respondents (25.9%), ≥140 mmHg / ≥90 mmHgs 79 respondents (68.1%) and ≥180 mmHg / ≥120 mmHg as many as 7 respondents ( 6.0%). From the analysis result, the significant value of p=0,024 which means that it significant effect and thus the H1 can be accepted that there is a significant correlation between stress and blood pressure on hypertension elderly in the working area of Community Health Center of Kadungora, Garut Regency. Medical staffs are expected to use this research as the basic in developing health care activities for elderlies such as Integrated Development Post (posbindu) by providing socialization about information and education related with stress and blood pressure.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of home telemonitoring on the control of high blood pressure in the Fangzhuang Community Health Center in Fengtai District, Beijing. A total of 110 hypertensive patients with uncontrolled high blood pressure were equally allocated to an intervention group and a control group randomly. The participants in the intervention group received home telemonitoring for blood pressure delivered by a team comprising a GP, a hypertension specialist, a general nurse and an information manager. The participants in the control group received the usual care. The levels of systolic and diabolic blood pressure of the participants were assessed on days 0 (baseline), 30, 90 and 180. On average, the intervention group had a greater reduction in blood pressure compared with the control by 6.6–8.0mmHg in systolic blood pressure and 0–3.0mmHg in diastolic blood pressure. Similarly, higher proportions of patients with normal blood pressure were achieved in the intervention group (63.6–71.2%) compared with the control (38.5–41.8%). The reduction in systolic blood pressure for the participants in the intervention group was positively correlated with the utilisation of the app (P<0.05). Home telemonitoring is effective in the control of high blood pressure.
