Based the CAE technology, the paper introduced the application of Moldflow Insight in injection mold design of mobile phone cover. First, we must preprocess the finite element model, including importing three-dimensional model, meshing, and process setting. And then, we can use preliminary simulation analysis to determine the number and location of the gate. Finally to filling, cooling, packing and warpage analysis for part which can help us to find the causes from warpage generated. By optimizing the molding process parameters, adjusting the dwell pressure and the dwell time we can get less warpage, which can meet the precision demand of parts, consequently, the result can provide gist for the mold designers to design and for the injection molding technologist to process parameter adjustment.

The gate-type steel-shuttering jumbo is key construction equipment for tunnel lining, which is usually designed for customization according to the shape and size of the tunnel. Aiming at the insufficiency of existing methods in the jumbo design, the CAD/CAE technology is introduced into the domains of the jumbo design. In this paper, the gate-type steel-shuttering jumbo for spillway lining in Xiluodu hydropower station is designed, and virtual assembly is established based on three-dimensional digital model using Pro/E software. The stress and strain of the jumbo under different working conditions are analyzed by ANSYS. The result of finite element analysis can be regarded as the basis of structure design and optimization of the jumbo, and can be used to verify the design feasibility at the same time.

In the injection molding process, CAE technology is used for detailed analysis of the designing of injection mold gate location and number, this method can optimize the pouring system, and change the traditional method which improves the mold structure by mold testing, so the cost of mold design and manufacturing can be reduced.

The injection molding of plastic parts was simulated and analyzed by MOLDFLOW. Based on the result of mold flow analysis, we can optimize the structure of the mold, select equipment, determine parameters of process, and predict potential defects. The CAE technology could improve mold design ability, shorten plastic parts development cycle, improve the quality of plastic parts, reduce costs, and strengthen competitive power.

Using the reverse engineering software “Imageware”, the kakou points cloud data were processed, the characteristic curve grids were divided and the curve surfaces were reconstructed in the paper. Then the reconstructed plastic model of the kakou was inputed in UG. With the help of the repair functions for UG software, the incontinuous curve surfaces were sew up, then the STL style of the kakou was saved. Using Mold Wizards of the UG, the assemble model of the mold was established, the parting surfaces were designed, the 3D models of the mold parts were acquired. With the help of Moldflow, the injection molding of the kakou was simulated and analyzed. According to the results of simulation, the structures of mold and the technology parameters were optimized .The mold design was changed digital, virtual and modern design from tradition design based on paper and experience.
