ABSTRACT Objectives: to build and validate three clinical simulation scenarios and report the application with candidates for the specialist’s degree in stomatherapy. Methods: methodological study, building three scenarios and evaluation checklists; content validation with judges, using content validity index and Modified Kappa Coefficient; pre-test and application. Results: scenarios built based on nursing care for: 1. insufficiency and venous ulcer; 2. demarcation of intestinal stomia; and 3. Clean intermittent catheterization. In the content validation of the 24 items appreciated, 83%, 80%, and 92% were validated without change. In the pre-test, the objectives and checklists were adjusted. In the application, to standardize the evaluation, actors and evaluators were trained previously, and each candidate passed the three stations. Conclusions: scenarios built and with validated content, based on evidence and covering the three areas of stomatherapy. The pre-test allowed for adjustments in the scenarios, and the candidates achieved the expected objectives.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the process for creating and validating a checklist for blood transfusion in children. Method: Methodological study, conducted from November 2016 to May 2017, developed in two stages. The content of the items that compose the instrument was based on scientific evidence and submitted to specialized nurses for content validation. We applied the Content Validity index, considering the value ≥ 0.80. Results: The content was considered valid with global CVI of 0.87. Suggestions for adjustments, such as deletion, replacement, and addition of terms, were included in the final version, which consisted of 14 items and 56 subitems. Conclusion: The checklist for blood transfusion in children was considered a technology with valid content to be used in the transfusion performed by nurses, thus contributing to transfusion safety in children.

Objective To validate the content of two instruments used to evaluate nursing care for people with skin lesions. Methods Content validation study comprised of two stages: the first was the development of the instruments, beginning with a literature review; the second, content validation by means of an evaluation conducted by 30 judges/experts. For analysis, the Kappa coefficient ≥ 0.61 and content validity index ≥ 0.75 were adopted. Results The judges presented nine suggestions regarding the instrument’s categories. All items of the questionnaire and the observation script reached acceptable rates of content validity and concordance. Some categories attained scores above the given value, confirming the validity of the content. Conclusion The instruments showed satisfactory content validity rates, and can be used to measure the skills and knowledge of nursing care provided to people with skin lesions.

ABSTRACT Objective: To construct and validate a nursing care protocol in anesthesia. Method: methodological study of face and content validation, judging clarity, relevance, pertinence and comprehensiveness of a care protocol, elaborated from the integrative review of previous literature and based on the conceptual model of assistance perioperative nursing of Castellanos and Jouclas. The protocol was evaluated by five anesthesiologists and nurses from the surgical center. The results were analyzed through the content validity index. Results: among the 119 items assessed by experts, 11 (9.2%) instrument items presented content validity index of <80% and were changed. The items with disagreement were related to the selection and availability of materials and equipment, especially before anesthetic induction. The content validity index, obtained for the different items, proposed after the amendments mentioned, ranged from 80 to 100%, in the three periods of anesthesia, indicating the proper validity of the proposed content. Conclusion: the nursing care protocol in anesthesia was considered valid.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to translate, adapt and validate the PIV Infiltration Scale content into Brazilian Portuguese. Methods: a methodological study. Initial translation was performed by two bilingual translators, translation synthesis; backtranslation to the original language; elaboration of the translated version and adapted by expert consensus; content validation and pretest. Results: the Pediatric PIV Infiltration Scale has been translated and adapted. Discrepancies were sorted out by consensus. The scale content was validated by nine experts, reaching a global content validity index of 0.95. Pretest was performed by applying the scale to 33 intravenous device insertion sites of 17 newborns and 16 children. The predominant infiltration grades were 2 and 3. Conclusions: the Pediatric PIV Infiltration Scale’s translated version achieved equivalence to Brazilian Portuguese and was validated by experts.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to validate the terms of the specialized nursing language used in the care of people with chronic kidney disease undergoing conservative treatment identified in the literature by mapping them with terms of the International Classification for Nursing Practice, version 2019, and representing them by means of a mandala. Methods: descriptive, documentary and methodological study. The terms were collected in 53 scientific articles, standardized and mapped with the terminology. The validation was performed by six nurses through a focus group. The Content Validity Index was used and terms with a value ≥ 0.80 were validated. Results: the normalization resulted in 957 relevant terms, of which 499 were constant and 458 not included in the terminology. Terms were validated when Content Validity Index was between 0.86 and 1.0. Conclusions: the study allowed the validation of terms that will contribute to unify the professional language of nursing in the care of people with chronic kidney disease.
