Leaders can influence the prosocial behaviour of employees through their behaviour and action. The study investigated the effect of environmentally specific servant leadership (ESSL) on employees’ voluntary pro-environmental behaviour (PEB) in hospitality firms. In addition, the study examined the mediating role of harmonious environmental passion (HEP) in the relationship between ESSL and PEB. The study adopted the quantitative research design and the cross-sectional survey method was adopted for data collection. The Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS SEM) with Smart-PLS 3.2.8 software was used for data analysis. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between ESSL and employees’ PEB. The mediating effect of HEP is significant. Theoretical, empirical and managerial implications are discussed.

Dynamic capabilities describe a firm’s ability to build, integrate and reconfigure internal and external competencies to address rapidly changing environments and improve firm competitiveness. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of four dimensions of dynamic capabilities (sensing, learning, integrating, and coordinating) on the performance of hospitality firms. In addition, the study examined the mediating role of product innovation in the relationship between dynamic capabilities and performance. The study adopted the quantitative research design and the cross-sectional survey method was used for data collection. The Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling was used for data analysis. Based on a dataset of 135 respondents, the results indicated that sensing, learning and coordinating significantly affect the performance of hospitality firms. Innovation mediates the relationship between sensing and learning capabilities and performance. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed. The provision of seminars and training on dynamic capabilities and innovation to top management and employees is important.

The hospitality industry exerts significant pressure on the environment through the consumption of resources such as energy and water. However, the industry can also enhance environmental preservation through their operation and strategy. This study examined whether environmental orientation (internal and external) and green competitive advantage are significantly positively related. This study also investigated the indirect effect of green innovation. A quantitative research method was used for this study. The cross-sectional survey method was used as the method of data collection. This study used Partial Least Square Structural Equation modelling to test the hypotheses. The findings showed that environmental orientation and green competitive advantage are significantly positively related. The indirect effect of green innovation is significant. Theoretically, the study developed a model that linked green innovation to environmental orientation. Practically, the study suggests some recommendations on how the managers of hospitality firms can improve environmental orientation. These include the provision of training and development workshops on environmental strategy for management and employees.

Business environment in Malaysia has become more competitive due to the advancement of technology and globalisation including the small and medium enterprises (SMEs). SMEs have so long devised various marketing strategies in order to penetrate the online advertisement clutter alongside improving their performance. Past studies have shown that using ICT such as social media help to improve SMEs’ performance. The owner-managers themselves determine the adoption of social media in their marketing due to the process of information collection and analysis are highly relied on them. Most of the SMEs have their own websites but these are primarily used as an information tool only. Thus, this study investigated the mediating role of social media marketing adoption between technological support, organisational support, government support and competitive intelligence towards the performance of SME. The theoretical framework of this study is substantiated by Resource-based View (RBV) theory and supported by Technology, Environment and Organisation (TOE) framework. This study has been carried out in the East Coast region of Malaysia consisting of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang states and also employed a questionnaire survey method. From 1920 questionnaires distributed, 339 responses were returned and found usable for the final analysis using the structural equation model partial least square (SEM-PLS). The findings revealed that the adoption of social media marketing mediates the relationship between these technological, organisational, and government supports, the competitive intelligence, and SME performance. Finally, the study’s theoretical and practical implications as well as the limitations and directions for future research were provided and discussed.

E-Health is one of the solutions to provide better access for patients and physician to healthcare facilities. In developing countries, e-Health is particularly important due to a shortage of physician and medical workers. Although most physicians in developing countries like Bangladesh acknowledge the benefits of e-Health, low adoption is not uncommon. The objective of this study is to identify the critical factors affecting e-Health adoption among physicians in Bangladesh. A cross-sectional survey questionnaire method was used for this study. The structural equation modeling (SEM) with the partial least square (PLS) approach was used to analyze the data. The study found that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence and Personal Innovativeness had a significant impact on the behavioral intention to use e-Health, while Facilitating Conditions had no significant effect. The findings of this study will facilitate the degree of more acceptance of new technology by the physicians for their own betterment.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to extend the existing literature on the relationship between psychological empowerment and individual performance (IP) through the mediating role of intrapreneurial behaviour (IB). Therefore, the empowerment theory (ET) and psychological entrepreneurship theory (PET) were integrated to nurture the IP of medium enterprises (MEs) production/operations managers by analyzing the mediating influence of IB on the psychological empowerment–IP relationship.Design/methodology/approachSurvey method was engaged by means of self-administered questionnaire. Data were collected from a sample of 355 MEs production/operations managers and analysed with partial least square (PLS) structural equation modelling (SEM).FindingsAccording to the results, Psychological empowerment (PE) has a significant direct relationship with both IB and IP. Equally, IB has a positive significant impact on IP. Moreover, the mediating influence of IB on the psychological empowerment–IP relationship was established.Practical implicationsThe result implies that MEs can stimulate the IP of production/operations managers by encouraging IB through psychological empowerment–IP relationship. Therefore, the psychological empowerment–IP relationship will manifest better when IB is invigorated among production/operations managers.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this paper is the first to examine the mediating influence of IB on the psychological empowerment–IP relationship, which revealed a significant contribution to both entrepreneurship and organizational behaviour literature. The IB literature is relatively lacking, particularly among developing countries and in particular Nigeria.

This study investigated personality factors as predictors of workplace deviance behavior among civil servants in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Using cross-sectional survey method, data were conducted to 263 civil servants from various departments and Agencies in Pekanbaru by using questionnaires. The instrument for data collection includes the Big Five Inventory (BFI) and the Workplace Deviance Scale. The hypothesis was used multiple regression with data analyzed by using Partial Least Square (PLS). The results revealed that there were a significant influence personality factors to workplace deviance behavior. The independently, extraversion and conscientiousness have negative significant to workplace deviance behavior and neuroticism and openness to experience have positive significant to workplace deviance behavior but not agreeableness significantly. This study recommended that the importance of taking personality traits into consideration during employee recruitment processes to minimize workplace deviant behavior.

This study aims to investigate the determinants that influence youth in preparing for entrepreneurship in Indonesia. A quantitative approach was applied, using a cross-sectional survey with 425 young entrepreneur respondents in East Java. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The findings showed that entrepreneurial intentions can be explained by the institutional environment and can provide motivation to start a business. This study confirmed the strong correlation between motivation to start a business and entrepreneurial intentions in preparing for entrepreneurship programs. This study investigated the antecedents of work engagement of Malaysian employees who were cancer survivors. Work engagement refers to a positive, fulfilling, work-related state of mind characterizing employees who work hard and persist despite difficulties. Employees with high levels of work engagement are deeply involved in what they do and are happily absorbed in their work. This study was aimed to examine the individual and work environment-related factors that influence work engagement. A quantitative research paradigm was adopted, with a cross-sectional design using data collected from cancer survivors registered at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur. The 270 participants in this study were randomly selected by inclusive criteria sampling. A validated instrument was tested in a pilot study. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was used to test the direct effects of work engagement. It was found that the level of all the tested variables (work engagement, employee resilience, social support, and quality of working life) among the participants were high. This study highlights the importance of resilience and social support in improving work engagement among cancer survivors in Malaysia.

This study investigated the relationships among justice dimensions (distributive, procedural, interpersonal, and informational), university image, service recovery satisfaction, and customer behavioural outcomes (trust, word of mouth, repurchase intention, and loyalty). This study adopted a cross-sectional survey approach and data were collected through a survey of 303 students of Open University Malaysia in Malaysia who experienced service failure and service recovery. The framework was tested via partial least square structural equation modelling, and the results revealed a significant relationship between justice dimensions and service recovery satisfaction in terms of procedural and interpersonal justice. Service recovery satisfaction had a significant effect on all customer behavioural outcomes investigated. University image did not have a moderating effect on the relationship between justice dimensions and service recovery satisfaction. Theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed in this paper.

Background: Elderly experiences with degenerative process in their life spam and physical condition as well as their ability to adopt with their environment. Those conditions will influence the achievement of elderly wellbeing.Purpose: This study aims to examine physical wellbeing in elderly based on social support and elderly characteristic.Method: This study employed cross-sectional survey design. The population was elderly who lived in east Surabaya. One hundred and ten of elderly were recruited. Their age was more than sixty years old, living with their family and under Medokan Ayu Public Health Center supervision. Multi stage random sampling was performed. The research instrument was physical wellbeing including elderly autonomy, cognitive, complaining about physical and disease as well. Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Square (SMART PLS) was used to analyze the data.Results: The research results showed that majority of emotional support in social support variable was good (98%). The majority of instrumental support was good (88.18%). Social wellbeing has significant relationship with the elderly physical wellbeing (p 0.312, t-statistic: 4.420, t-table: 1.65), elderly characteristic of holistic care (0.178, t-statistics 2.422, t-table: 1.65), and elderly characteristic of physical health (0.140. t-statistic 1.790, t table.1.65).Conclusion: Social support influences the physical wellbeing of elderly.
