The review of the literature devoted to the research of public transport vehicle (PTV) dwell time required for passenger boarding-deboarding at a stop confirms the importance of taking this time into account when modelling passenger transportation. The data about the dwell time were collected in different time periods for different PTVs in various cities and countries. Thus, there is no general model allowing to define the distribution parameters of dwell time variable and answer the question on the regularities in time values. So, the research of the PTV dwell time at the public transport stops in Kharkiv remains actual. Goal. The search of the regularities in transport system performance indicators including PTV dwell time at a stop will allow to apply relevant mathematical methods for the development of the forecast models which are valuable in the field of organization of passenger transportation and servicing. Methodology. The developed methodology to collect data about PTV dwell time at the stops will allow receiving high-quality survey data. The designed survey sheets enable a surveyor to record all needed information and prepare it for processing. The collected data will allow to define the distribution of the PTV dwell time at a stop. Results. The conducted PTV dwell time survey allowed to collect the sufficient amount of data to estimate the distribution of this variable. During the research, it was determined that the empirical dwell time distribution can be well described with the theoretical gamma distribution. The latter distribution appeared to be applicable for all surveyed PTVs. Originality. The defined distribution of the PTV dwell time at a stop for passenger boarding-deboarding allows receiving the results of passenger flows modelling which are more precise compared to the modelling with no dwell time consideration. The use of the dwell time regularities in the procedure of passenger flows assignment results in the increased precision of flow volumes estimation by up to 14.9 % – from 2.28 % to 1.94 %. Practical value. The received results support the fact that the research of PTV dwell time at a stop is actual, and the solution of the task of dwell time distribution estimation will make it possible to improve passenger flows modelling in public transport route systems.

The study considered the role of passenger road transport as one of the most important sectors of the national economy, which influences the entire economy of a country and its regions, as well as the quality of life of the population. The analysis of the transport system in the city of Khujand, which is mainly dominated by road transport, has been carried out based on the results of the conducted survey on passenger flows on bus routes of the city, particularly, regarding origin-destination matrix, fare collectability. The conclusions argue in favour of practicability of conducting regular systematic monitoring of passenger flows to optimize suggestions in the field of urban public transport development. In fundamental terms, main problems of passenger transportation management were identified including lack of a regular timetable on certain routes, non-compliance with the traffic schedule, resulting in an increase in travel time, changes in routing due to the absence of sufficient number of passengers, systematic violations of traffic rules, excessively long stops at the hub stopping points, etc. The suggestions comprise approaches intended to reduce influence of organisational and managerial factors on efficiency of passenger transportation, on the correct choice of rolling stock, that should be selected considering design features, possibility of serving all segments of the population (categories of passengers), traffic intensity, manoeuvrability, compliance with road conditions, etc. Conclusions were also made regarding techniques to justify the volume of passenger transportation, to identify average distance of passenger’s trip, to calculate technical, operational, and quality indicators of operation of public transport, distribution of passengers per routes. The analysis of the structure of passenger flows since it influences the indicators of the effectiveness of passenger transportation, plays the most significant role in the framework of development of new approaches to the solution of transport issues in the city of Khujand.Implementation of full-scale monitoring of passenger flows will make it possible to develop appropriate timetables facilitating movement of passenger flows on routes, to select a rational type of rolling stock in terms of capacity, will contribute to time-saving passenger travelling, socialisation of transport tariffs, and improved quality of transportation.

The work purpose consists in the analysis of the situation in passenger transportation of countryside and bus distribution on routes. The route investigation was carried out at different daytime by means of passenger number calculation and data recordings in the prepared tables during a day, a week, a month and also during the year, that is, using a calculating-table method. The analysis of bus operation on a route allowed drawing conclusions that this route may be favorable for investors and economically profitable. Besides, it is socially necessary for low-income population groups having no their transport vehicles. The investigation novelty consists in the adaptation of a calculating-table method to rural routes. Conclusions: modern automobile passenger transportation company is impossible without efficient passenger transportation management; one of the main components in passenger transportation management is passenger service improvement, which can be achieved only by empiric investigations of passenger flows on the routes; at the proper selection of vehicles the analyzed car route can be commercially profitable and long-term that is ensured by a quantitative analysis of vehicles and specification of bus schedule taking into account the need of population in travels.

Peculiarities of transport services for the transportation of passengers, which must be taken into account when creating logistics models for organizing and managing passenger flows, are considered. Need of cost reduction of time of passengers for transport service is proved. The conclusion is drawn on need of the effective transport system creation, for the purpose of observance of intervals of the movement of buses on routes. The possibility of use of architectural approximations classes for the solution of transport logistics problems is analysed. The methods used for solving transport problems where the most widespread is modeling and algorithmization of the determined task formulation strategy with use of a classical algorithm of mathematical programming are considered. The prospects of a meta-heuristic method use is a genetic algorithm for the solution of tasks of the control of city passenger transport adapted to objective conditions are proved. The main features of genetic algorithms consisting in an opportunity by optimization to use criterion function and to consider the necessary number of restrictions are defined. The structure of a chromosome which represents the coded option of the movement of the bus in real time depending on a road situation is received.
