Abstract Hierarchical Chinese postman problem (HCPP), a variant of the Chinese postman problem, aims to find the shortest tour or tours by passing through the arcs classified according to precedence relationship. HCPP, which has a wide application area in real-life problems such as shovel snow and routing patrol vehicles where precedence relations are important, belongs to the NP-hard problem class. In real-life problems, travel time between the two locations in city traffic varies due to reasons such as traffic jam, weather conditions, etc. Therefore travel times are uncertain. In this study, HCPP is handled with the chance-constrained stochastic programming approach, and a new type of problem, hierarchical Chinese postman problem with stochastic travel times, is introduced. Due to the NP-hard nature of the problem, the developed mathematical model with stochastic parameter values cannot find proper solutions in large size problems within the appropriate time interval. Therefore, two new solution approaches, a heuristic method based on the Greedy Search (GSA) algorithm and a meta-heuristic method based on ant colony optimization (ACO) are proposed in this study. These new algorithms were tested on modified benchmark instances and randomly generated problem instances with as many as 817 edges. The performance of algorithms was compared in terms of solution quality and computational time.

Abstract In this article I present HYPER-REF, a model to determine the referent of any given expression in First-Order Logic (FOL). I also explain how this model can be used to determine the referent of a first-order theory such as First-Order Arithmetic (FOA). By reference or referent I mean the non-empty set of objects that the syntactical terms of a well-formed formula (wff) pick out given a particular interpretation of the language. To do so, I will first draw on previous work to make explicit the notion of reference and its hyperintensional features. Then I present HYPER-REF and offer a heuristic method for determining the reference of any formula. Then I discuss some of the benefits and most salient features of HYPER-REF, including some remarks on the nature of self-reference in formal languages.

Due to the dynamic mobility feature, the proactive flow rule cache method has become one promising solution in software-defined networking (SDN)-based access networks to reduce the number of flow rule installation procedures between the forwarding nodes and SDN controller. However, since there is a flow rule cache limit for the forwarding node, an efficient flow rule cache strategy is required. To address this challenge, this paper proposes the mobility-aware hybrid flow rule cache scheme. Based on the comparison between the delay requirement of the incoming flow and the response delay of the controller, the proposed scheme decides to install the flow rule either proactively or reactively for the target candidate forwarding nodes. To find the optimal number of proactive flow rules considering the flow rule cache limits, an integer linear programming (ILP) problem is formulated and solved using the heuristic method. Extensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes in terms of the flow table utilization ratio, flow rule installation delay, and flow rules hit ratio under various settings.

<p>Arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA) is a newly proposed meta-heuristic method which is inspired by the arithmetic operators in mathematics. However, the AOA has the weaknesses of insufficient exploration capability and is likely to fall into local optima. To improve the searching quality of original AOA, this paper presents an improved AOA (IAOA) integrated with proposed forced switching mechanism (FSM). The enhanced algorithm uses the random math optimizer probability (RMOP) to increase the population diversity for better global search. And then the forced switching mechanism is introduced into the AOA to help the search agents jump out of the local optima. When the search agents cannot find better positions within a certain number of iterations, the proposed FSM will make them conduct the exploratory behavior. Thus the cases of being trapped into local optima can be avoided effectively. The proposed IAOA is extensively tested by twenty-three classical benchmark functions and ten CEC2020 test functions and compared with the AOA and other well-known optimization algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to other comparative algorithms on most of the test functions. Furthermore, the test results of two training problems of multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and three classical engineering design problems also indicate that the proposed IAOA is highly effective when dealing with real-world problems.</p>

Tuberculosis (TB) is a worldwide health crisis and is the second primary infectious disease that causes death next to human immunodeficiency virus. In this work, an attempt has been made to detect the presence of bacilli in sputum smears. The smear images recorded under standard image acquisition protocol are subjected to hybrid Ant Colony Optimization (ACO)-morphological based segmentation procedure. This method is able to retain the shape of bacilli in TB images. The segmented images are validated with ground truth using overlap, distance and probability-based measures. Significant shape-based features such as area, perimeter, compactness, shape factor and tortuosity are extracted from the segmented images. It is observed that this method preserves more edges, detects the presence of bacilli and facilitates direct segmentation with reduced number of redundant searches to generate edges. Thus this hybrid segmentation technique aid in the diagnostic relevance of TB images in identifying the objects present in them.

P u r p o s e s.  When designing a system of urban electric transport that charges while driving, including autonomous trolleybuses with batteries of increased capacity, it is important to optimize the charging infrastructure for a fleet of such vehicles. The charging infrastructure of the dedicated routes consists of overhead wire sections along the routes and stationary charging stations of a given type at the terminal stops of the routes. It is designed to ensure the movement of trolleybuses and restore the charge of their batteries, consumed in the sections of autonomous running. The aim of the study is to create models and methods for developing cost-effective solutions for charging infrastructure, ensuring the functioning of the autonomous trolleybus fleet, respecting a number of specific conditions. Conditions include ensuring a specified range of autonomous trolleybus running at a given rate of energy consumption on routes, a guaranteed service life of their batteries, as well as preventing the discharge of batteries below a critical level under various operating modes during their service life.M e t ho d s. Methods of set theory, graph theory and linear approximation are used.Re s u l t s. A mathematical model has been developed for the optimization problem of the charging infrastructure of the autonomous trolleybus fleet. The total reduced annual costs for the charging infrastructure are selected as the objective function. The model is formulated as a mathematical programming problem with a quadratic objective function and linear constraints.Co n c l u s i o n. To solve the formulated problem of mathematical programming, standard solvers such as IBM ILOG CPLEX can be used, as well as, taking into account its computational complexity, the heuristic method of "swarm of particles".  The solution to the problem is to select the configuration of the location of the overhead wire sections on the routes and the durations of charging the trolleybuses at the terminal stops, which determine the corresponding number of stationary charging stations at these stops.

As an effective heuristic method, three-way decision theory gives a new semantic interpretation to the three fields of the rough set, which has a huge application space. To classify the information of agricultural products more accurately under certain thresholds, this paper first makes a comprehensive evaluation of the decision, particularly the influence of the attributes of the event itself on the results and their interactions. By using fuzzy sets corresponding to membership and non-membership degree, this paper analyzes and puts forward two cases of proportional correlation coefficients in the transformation of a delayed decision domain, and selects the corresponding coefficients to compare the results directly. Finally, consumers can conveniently grasp product attribute information to make decisions. On this basis, this paper analyzed the standard data to verify the accuracy of the model. After that, the proposed algorithm, based on three decision-making agricultural product information classification processing, is applied to the relevant data of agricultural products. The experimental results showed that the algorithm can obtain more accurate results through a more straightforward calculation process. It can be concluded that the algorithm proposed in this paper can enable people to make more convenient and accurate decisions based on product attribute information.
