Objetivo: Analisar a qualidade de vida de pessoas com úlceras venosas. Método: Estudo transversal com abordagemquantitativa realizado em pacientes com úlceras venosas. A amostra totalizou 29 pacientes. Foram utilizadosdois instrumentos para a coleta de dados, um com características sociodemográfi cas-clínicas e o segundo sobreavaliação da qualidade de vida o WHOQOL-Bref. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética e Pesquisa (Protocolo nº545.595/2014). Para o tratamento dos dados realizou-se a análise inferencial e descritiva. Utilizaram-se os testes deCoefi ciente de Correlação de Pearson e Análise de Variância quando p<0,05. Resultados: A idade do participante secorrelacionou de forma signifi cativa com a presença de dor (p=0,047) e área da lesão (p=0,050), a dor se correlacionoude forma signifi cativa com o tempo da lesão (p=0,005) e número de lesões (p=0,010). Conclusão: A qualidade de vidanão foi afetada pela presença das úlceras venosas, entretanto os resultados mostram que a idade pode infl uenciara percepção à dor e área da lesão e a dor pode variar de acordo com o tempo e número de lesões.Palavras-chave: Qualidade de vida; Úlcera varicosa; Doença crônica; Fatores Socioeconômicos. ABSTRACTObjective: To analyze the quality of life of people with venous ulcers. Method: Cross-sectional study with aquantitative approach was carried out in patients with venous ulcers. Results: participant’s age correlated signifi cantly with thepresence of pain (p = 0.047) and lesion area (p = 0.050), pain correlated signifi cantly with the time of injury (p =0.005) and number lesions (p = 0.010). Background: Vietnam is entering the stage of aging population; as a result, the quality of life (QOL) of the elderly is really a matter of concern. There is a great deal of research on the quality of life of the elderly while Vietnam witnesses a lack of research on this topic, especially on how physical and social activities have impact on QOL of the elderly. Objectives: (1) To describe the situation of participation in physical, social activities and QOL of the elderly residing in Truong An Ward, Hue city. (2) To examine the association between physical, social activities and QOL among participants. Methodology: This study used cross-sectional study design. A total sample of 420 people aged 60 and above in Truong An Ward, Hue city were interviewd. The SF36 was used to measure the QOL of participants. Results: Percentage of the elderly taking part in physical activity were 66%. 49% reported having the habit of taking part in social activities. The majority of the elderly get their QOL level in three health fields, namely physical, mental and general health at above average. (56.0, 60.7 and 60.8 respectively). There were significant associations between physical activities, social activities and QOL among participants. Conclusion: The percentage of the elderly taking part in physical and social activities were still low. Besides, QOL of the elderly at the research location was not really high. It’s important to encourage the elderly taking part in physical and social activities to improve their quality of life. Key words: Physical activities, social activities, QOL, the elderly
