The purpose of the article is to highlight the main milestones in the life and creative path of the famous scientist in the field of animal husbandry, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor I. V. Smirnov, his contribution to the formation of the sectorial experimental work and the spread of higher professional education. Research methods – general scientific (analysis, synthesis, classification), special historical (problem-chronological, comparative-historical, biographical), source studies. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the detailed study of the Terezyno period of I. V. Smirnov's activities, during which the new technological solutions were established and implemented contributing to the development of the theory and methodology of artificial insemination of farm animals. It is proved that on the basis of the Kiev Experimental Station of Animal Husbandry "Terezyno" the scientist implemented the concept of the development of higher professional education, based on the combination of the educational process with long-term industrial practice; laid the foundations for international cooperation in the field of reproduction biotechnology in animal husbandry. The main components of the I. V. Smirnov's creativity are highlighted, namely: methods of sperm long-term storage, technologies and techniques of artificial insemination, biology and physiology of reproduction of farm animals, etc. The researcher developed the theory of anabiosis, the theory of cold sperm shock, established the methods for mammalian sperm diluting and evaluating. He updated research on the use of blood groups for testing the lineage of animals and artificially regulating the sex of the offspring. It is shown that the method of mammalian sperm long-term storage formed the theoretical basis for the reorganization of domestic breeding on the basis of the widespread introduction of artificial insemination, contributed to a fast transformation of the gene pool of farm animals due to the involvement of genetic resources of foreign breeding in the selection process. It has been proved that thanks to the I. V. Smirnov's creative initiatives, the foundations have been laid for the development of a new direction in the science of the reproduction of organic species – reproductive biotechnology of farm animals.

The article in hand describes a processing line for preparation of feed for farm livestock and the design of an infrared drying unit integrated into this line. The main objective of this study is to find ways to provide a full-value feeding of farm animals throughout the calendar year. At present, there are various methods for preserving feed proposed with the aim of providing a full-fledged diet. However, following the recommendations for feed storage according to the recommended conditions, as a rule, results in high losses of its total weight and nutritional properties due to a long winter period with low-temperature regimes, typical of the Amur Region of Russia. This article presents the results of the study of a prospective processing line for the preparation of feed for long-term storage, which ensures the preservation of their basic nutritional properties, with an integrated infrared drying unit.

There has been increased interest recently in the conservation of wild felids and preservation of valuable cat breeds. Assisted reproduction, by means of artificial insemination (AI), is an important tool for developing breeding programs for conservation. Optimal use of AI requires accurate data on semen conservation protocols and its long-term storage/survival. In this paper, semen cooling and freezing processes are described, with special emphasis on the results obtained in experiments performed in the domestic cat. Conception rates after AI in wild and domestic cats are also reported.

A model of moisture movement in wood is presented in this paper in a two-dimensional-in-space formulation. The finite-difference technique has been used in order to obtain the solution of the problem. The model was applied to predict the moisture content in sawn boards from pine during long term storage under outdoor climatic conditions. The satisfactory agreement between the numerical solution and experimental data was obtained.

The introduction and active use of information transmission and storage systems in the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of Ukraine form the need to develop ways of guaranteed removal of data from media after their use or long-term storage. Such a task is an essential component of the functioning of any information security system. The article analyzes the problems of guaranteed destruction of information on magnetic media. An overview of approaches to the guaranteed destruction of information on magnetic media of different types is presented, and partial estimates of the effectiveness of their application are given by some generally accepted indicators of performance evaluation. The article also describes the classification of methods of destruction of information depending on the influence on its medium. The results of the analysis revealed the main problems of application of software methods and methods of demagnetization of the information carrier. The issue of guaranteed destruction of information from modern SSD devices, which are actively used in the formation of new systems of information accumulation and processing, became particularly relevant in the article. In today's conditions of development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, methods of mechanical and thermal destruction are more commonly used today. In the medium term, the vector of the use of information elimination methods will change towards the methods of physical impact by the pulsed magnetic field and the software methods that allow to store the information storage device, but this today requires specialists to develop new ways of protecting information in order to avoid its leakage.
