Mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN) is defined as a tumor composed of cells originating from neuroendocrine cells in the embryonic intestine and elements of epithelial adenocarcinoma. To determine the differentiation grade of MiNEN, the proliferation index was used, for which at least 500 cells were examined. MiNEN is a rare neoplasm that is most frequently found in the lower gastrointestinal tract. We present a rare clinical case of surgical treatment of MiNEN of the ascending colon.

The styloid process is a bone projection that originates in the tympanic portion of the temporal bone. The enlongation of the styloid process, or the ossification of the styloid process, can originate a series of symptoms such as dysphagia, odynophagia, facial pain, otalgia, headache, tinnitus and trismus, establishing the clinical picture of Eagle Syndrome. In this report, we present an important clinical case of adult patient diagnosed with Eagle’s Syndrome who underwent surgery for reduction of the enlongated styloid process, by intraoral approach, added to a literature review study.

The authors present a clinical case of von Willebrand disease detected after tonsillotomy and adenotomy in a child. The peculiarity of this observation lies in the rare occurrence of von Willebrand disease in clinical practice, as well as the manifestation of the clinical manifestations of this pathology against the background of surgical treatment in a child.

SummaryOsteoradionecrosis (ORN) of the jaws is a serious complication of radiotherapy of head and neck malignancies. Different assumptions about its occurring, risk factors and possible therapeutical modalities exist, but the clinical outcome of such patients is still not on the desired level. This article presents a clinical case of ORN of the mandible, occurring with exposed and infected bone, necrotic process that extended through all the mandible body, as well as cutaneous fistula. The first site of ORN was detected 2 years after radiotherapy for oral cancer, with the second one detected 3 and a half years after radiotherapy. In both, the reason for exposing the bone was local trauma due to tooth extraction. Due to the stage of the condition, a decision for surgical treatment accompanied with antibiotics was made.It is very important and critical for irradiated patients and patients with osteoradionecrosis to perform appropriate oral hygiene and frequent dental checks. Establishing protocols for prevention and treatment, but involving some new strategies regarding to this condition, are strongly recommended.

Gastrinoma is a rare neuroendocrine tumor, with frequent cases of late detection. A clinical case of late diagnostics of gastrinoma complicated by metastases is presented, with symptomatology remaining after surgical treatment, which is stopped with the help of proton pump inhibitors.

AbstractNon-surgical endodontic retreatment should always be the first option for reintervention when the initial endodontic treatment fails. The surgical treatment, called periradicular surgery, will be the procedure of choice when there is no success after the conventional endodontic retreatment. The purpose of this article is to describe clinical case of endodontic surgery, associated with guided tissue regeneration (GTR). A male patient, 24 years old, was referred for endodontic surgery on tooth 12 after two unsuccessful endodontic interventions. During the surgery, osteotomy, lesion curettage, apicectomy, retrograde obturation with Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA), and filling of the bone failure with lyophilized bone and reabsorbable collagen membrane were performed. After six months of follow-up, the patient did not present any type of painful symptomatology. The endodontic surgery, associated with a technique of guided tissue regeneration, was efficient to solve this clinical case. Keywords: Endodontics. Apicoectomy. Guided Tissue Regeneration. Apicectomia. Regeneração Tecidual Guiada.

Summary This report presents clinical case with a histopathologically established lipoma of the sublingual space. Lipomas are benign mesenchymal neoplasms produced by adipocytes. Our search in the literature demonstrated that the development of lipomas in the sublingual space is extremely rare. In the oral cavity, it is seen in less than 5% of patients. In this paper, we describe clinical features, imaging diagnostic and histopathological features. Lipomas are characterized by slow growth and could be asymptomic, therefore diagnosis could be delayed. This report describes and discusses the case of a 64 years-old-man with a formation, located below the left tongue, for a period of 4 years. The patient had repeatedly consulted with Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) specialists and dentists who recommended surgical treatment. During the last month of the monitoring, the formation had grown significantly and the chewing and speech function had gradually worsened.
