Background and Objective: Liquid based cytology was introduced at B P Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan, Nepal, on 29th November 2017. The objective of this study was to compare the results of conventional pap smears over six (6) months periods from 29th May 2017 to 28th November 2017 with the results of liquid based cytology smears over six (6) months periods from 29th November 2017 to 28th May 2018. Methods: This is retrospective study. The results of conventional pap smears over 6 months and the results of liquid based cytology smears over 6 months periods were retrieved and analysed to give overall reporting profiles and compared between the two methods. Results: The percentage of unsatisfactory smears fell 3.9% by conventional pap smears methods where as the percentage of unsatisfactory smears fell 1.2% by liquid based cytology smears. There was an increase in the number of smears reported as dyskaryosis of any grade by liquid based cytology methods. Conclusion: The introduction of liquid based cytology led to improvements in unsatisfactory smear rates and also with significant pick up rates of dyskaryosis were maintained and improved.

Abstract Background The present study aims to provide a comparative analysis of the etiologies of female infertility between Dehong, on the Yunnan Frontier, and Kunming. Methods A retrospective study, which included 941 infertile females in Kunming who were treated in the First People’s Hospital of Yunnan Province and infertile females who were treated in the local hospital in Dehong from January 2016 to November 2018, was conducted. A comparative analysis of the etiologies of infertility in the two regions was then carried out. Results In patients with primary infertility, ovulation disorder (15.03%) was the main cause of infertility in Kunming, and pelvic inflammatory disease (25.59%) was the main cause in Dehong. With regard to secondary infertility, although pelvic inflammatory disease was the main cause of infertility in both regions, the incidence of intrauterine adhesions in Kunming was significantly higher than in Dehong. Conclusions The etiology of infertility showed different epidemiological characteristics depending on the region, hence individualized treatment should be given accordingly

Objective: The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University (OGHFU) in Shanghai is the largest academic women's hospital in China. Between 2009 and 2014, the use of liquid-based cytology (LBC) significantly increased while gradually adopting the Bethesda System (TBS), and in 2012 local regulations mandated that pathologists replace technicians to sign out Pap tests. Design: A retrospective OGHFU database search documented all Pap test reports between 2009 and 2014 by specimen type, either LBC or conventional Pap smears (CPS), and final reporting category. A total of 1,224,785 Pap reports were analyzed to document variations in Pap test reporting during a period of major change in cervical screening in China. Results: LBC gradually replaced CPS, which declined from over 65% of Pap tests in 2010 to 6.4% in 2014. Of 514,811 Pap reports using the traditional class system, class I (negative) reports accounted for 98.3% of results. With the introduction of TBS reporting, pathologist reviews and substantial replacement of CPS by LBC, the laboratory abnormal Pap test rate increased significantly to almost 5%. Conclusions: Changes in cervical cytology reporting between 2009 and 2014 in China's largest academic women's hospital reflected both increased use of LBC and the introduction of pathologist TBS reporting. Abnormality rates increased significantly and fell within CAP benchmark ranges.

Objective: to evaluate the eff ectiveness of the regional cervical cancer screening program by liquid-based cytology. Materials and Methods: the geography of screening includes 54 medical units of the Rostov region, where patients are taken swabs from the cervix. HPV positive patients with abnormal PAP smears are invited to the Regional cervical pathology center for diagnosis and treatment. Methods. liquid-based cytology, the HPV test RealTime PCR, colposcopy with video recording, biopsy of the cervix by the method of loop excision or electroradiographic conization. Results: From 2014 to 2017, 188 641 cytology tests were performed. Cervical cancer was revealed in 189 women – (0.1 %), H-SIL and ASCH in 566 (0.3 %), 377 ASCUS (0.2 %), L-SIL in 23014 (12.2 %), absence of intracellular lesions or malignancy in 164495 (87.2 %). 2162 HPV-positive women aged 18 to 69 years were invited to the Regional cervical pathology center gynecologist for examination. Treatment by conization (622) and excision (830) of the cervix was performed in 1452 patients, H-SIL and CIS were revealed in 1162 women (78 %). Conclusion: tests such as liquid-based cytology and HPV testing, their optimal multiplicity and sequence allow timely detection and treatment of precancerous cervical epithelium lesions.
