The role of primers is to support literacy development, lexical enrichment and acquisition of the new knowledge. Therefore, the content and language incorporated in primers are important since they ensure successful reading and encourage child`s further learning. The aim of this study are lexical analyses of three primers approved by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport. The text and instruction from primers are analysed separately. The number of lemmas, types and tokens is calculated, as well as the number of low frequency words. The low frequency words are selected according to the Beck`s criteria: words that appear less than 12 times in primers are selected as low frequency words. It is well known that a great number of not commonly used words negatively influence on text comprehension and lexical development. The results show that most of the words in analysed primers are generally insufficiently represented and not distributed in various contexts. Frequency and context distribution are one of the prerequisites for word learning. Data gained from this study indicate that these two prerequisites have to be included in primers in order to ensure word learning and successful reading.

This chapter reviews the phases of early phonological and lexical development, based on the analyses of early words and prosodic structures (Chs. 3, 4), templatic patterns (Chs. 3, 5, 6), and the replacement of templates by more adult-like forms (Ch. 6). The role of memory in the process of template formation is discussed, contrasting the template model of lexical development with other theoretical approaches. The emergence of system-building is then related to the discussion (Ch. 1) of current studies in adult word learning and the distinction between lexical configuration and lexical engagement. In a brief account of current models of phonological development particular attention is given to the recently disseminated A-map model, which emphasizes accuracy and child-to-adult continuity within an Optimality Theoretic perspective. In a concluding section the function of adult and child templates is discussed again, highlighting the similarities observed in our data analyses (Ch. 8).

This article describes the role of lexical acquisition in stuttering by examining the research on word learning and interactions between semantics and syntax in typically developing children and children who stutter. The potential effects of linguistic mismatches, or dysynchronies in language skills, on the possible onset and development of stuttering are discussed. The article concludes with assessment and treatment considerations.

This study aim to knowing the effectiveness of efforts to empower the latest undergraduate graduates to help volunteer for learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive method that seeks to describe the role that the undergraduate can become a volunteer for learning. Data analysis techniques are in the form of collecting data from respondents. Data is reduced, data is presented, and then analyzed. The results obtained were found that fresh graduates were graduates who had just graduated from campuses around the Flores area in general and IKIP Muhammadiyah Maumere in particular and their roles in many ways teachers, students and being assistants. Parents in accompanying their children to study at and from home. From the implementation of this volunteer, it was found that there were changes in connection with the assisted learning process from home, which was enforced, school children felt helped in terms of progress in subject matter and were not left behind in understanding the material provided by teachers from school, parents and students also got new knowledge about the use of IT.

The cycle configuration at two-frequency loading regimes depends on the number of parameters including the absolute values of the frequencies and amplitudes of the low-frequency and high-frequency loads added during this mode, the ratio of their frequencies and amplitudes, as well as the phase shift between these harmonic components, the latter having a significant effect only with a small ratio of frequencies. Presence of such two-frequency regimes or service loading conditions for parts of machines and structures schematized by them can significantly reduce their endurance. Using the results of experimental studies of changes in the endurance of a two-frequency loading of specimens of cyclically stable, cyclically softened and cyclically hardened steels under rigid conditions we have shown that decrease in the endurance under the aforementioned conditions depends on the ratio of frequencies and amplitudes of operation low-frequency low-cycle and high-frequency vibration stresses, and, moreover, the higher the level of the ratios of amplitudes and frequencies of those stacked harmonic processes of loading the greater the effect. It is shown that estimation of such a decrease in the endurance compared to a single frequency loading equal in the total stress (strains) amplitudes can be carried out using an exponential expression coupling those endurances through a parameter (reduction factor) containing the ratio of frequencies and amplitudes of operation cyclic loads and characteristic of the material. The reduction is illustrated by a set of calculation-experimental curves on the corresponding diagrams for each of the considered types of materials and compared with the experimental data.

Health literacy is a critically important determinant of health and is influenced by access to supportive social networks and services. Global investment in education throughout the life course is required to support health literacy development. The aim of this review is to characterize the role, responsibilities, and the optimal setting for the emergent role of a Health Literacy Mediator (HLM). A scoping review of recent literature was conducted. The review revealed a lack of consensus on who should be teaching health literacy, and variability in confidence when teaching health literacy. Professionals reported facing barriers such as a lack of time, a lack of knowledge, and recognized that the health literacy needs of children worldwide are not being met. Further research into the role of HLM is required to determine who is best suited to this role and what their responsibilities will be to ensure consistent health literacy education.

The goal of the study was to investigate the role of combination products in the higher ripple-density resolution estimates obtained by discrimination between a spectrally rippled and a nonrippled noise signal than that obtained by discrimination between two rippled signals. To attain this goal, a noise band was used to mask the frequency band of expected low-frequency combination products. A three-alternative forced-choice procedure with adaptive ripple-density variation was used. The mean background (unmasked) ripple-density resolution was 9.8 ripples/oct for rippled reference signals and 21.8 ripples/oct for nonrippled reference signals. Low-frequency maskers reduced the ripple-density resolution. For masker levels from −10 to 10 dB re. signal, the ripple-density resolution for nonrippled reference signals was approximately twice as high as that for rippled reference signals. At a masker level as high as 20 dB re. signal, the ripple-density resolution decreased in both discrimination tasks. This result leads to the conclusion that low-frequency combination products are not responsible for the task-dependent difference in ripple-density resolution estimates.
