This article presents the results of experimental study of the influence of tire vertical load and tire internal pressure on tire cornering stiffness. The results have been obtained with a mobile tire tester which was developed at department “CEAET” at TU-SOFIA. The information about the dates of size load, index speed, index group, wearing out is obtained from Goodyear website, www.goodyear.eu. The study process concerns three main areas: (i) the choice of the experimental methodology; (ii) calculation and analysis of the data; (iii) discussion and conclusion. The obtained results give the possibility to determinate the role of tire on vehicle handling and stability.

Composed wall with site laying reinforcing rib is composed of reinforced concrete rib, girtstrip and filling brickwork. This kind of wall is energy-saving, environmental-friendly and of good earthquake resistant performance. It is suitable to village building structure. In this paper, the load carrying capability and failure mode of this kind of composed wall under the effect of vertical load, the maximum bearing capacity of the wall and its influencing factors are mainly introduced.

The same two straight mortise-tennon joints in the base of melon-column (SJ for short) and penetrated mortise-tennon joints (PJ for short) were made with related rules. Relations of moment-rotation, length of the tenon pulled out-rotation and failure modes were got through monotonic loading test. Experimental study showed the main damage type of SJ was pulling out, while two damage types of PJ were bending damage and transverse tearing failure respectively. When under the action of bending moment, the resisting torque of SJ was synthesized by vertical load of columns, while that of PJ was mainly synthesized by local compresssive stress and friction on upper and lower surface of the tennon. In addition, the pulling size of tennons was associated with the heigth of tenon and relative rotation of beam and column.

Based on the flexural-shear and press-flexural-shear test of four scale HSW model building with High Shear-Span Ratio, The seismic behavior of the slit and integral HSW are discussed, then the failure characteristics and capacity of HSW under Vertical load and seams are analyzed. The result of experimental study proves that the ductility and the property of energy dissipation of HSW are well; Vertical load could increase the capacity and deformation, decrease the energy dissipation of HSW. And the seams of wall could improve the ductility and the property of energy dissipation of HSW , lower the capacity.

Abstract The main problem of road construction on saturated soft soils is due to their low bearing capacity and large settlement. One of the solutions to such problems is to install piled box culverts-geofoam. In this study, the pile box culvert-geofoam was modelled as raft foundation. This experimental study was conducted by making a prototype raft file foundation gradually loaded with a maximum vertical load of 20 kN. Different thicknesses of geofoam were utilized in order to observe the influence of thickness on the settlement. Furthermore, difference in settlement is also found when the culvert was constructed with and without geofoam. Thicker geofoam was observed to result in smaller settlement.
