In order to technological use in the preparation and application of plasma coatings, the mutual influence of acoustic impact on low-temperature plasma was conducted, the experimental methodology and the results of the study in the pipe at the resonant excitation frequency are given. The nonlinearity of sound oscillations was found and their amplification by increasing the pressure, which can be used to intensify the processes of plasma coatings.

Steadily growing interest in magnetic characterization of organic compounds for therapeutic purposes or of other irregularly shaped specimens calls for refinements of experimental methodology to satisfy experimental challenges. Encapsulation in capsules remains the method of choice, but its applicability in precise magnetometry is limited. This is particularly true for minute specimens in the single milligram range as they are outweighed by the capsules and are subject to large alignment errors. We present here a completely new experimental methodology that permits 30-fold in situ reduction of the signal of capsules by substantially restoring the symmetry of the sample holder that is otherwise broken by the presence of the capsule. In practical terms it means that the standard 30 mg capsule is seen by the magnetometer as approximately a 1 mg object, effectively opening the window for precise magnetometry of single milligram specimens. The method is shown to work down to 1.8 K and in the whole range of the magnetic fields. The method is demonstrated and validated using the reciprocal space option of MPMS-SQUID magnetometers; however, it can be easily incorporated in any magnetometer that can accommodate straw sample holders (i.e., the VSM-SQUID). Importantly, the improved sensitivity is accomplished relying only on the standard accessories and data reduction method provided by the SQUID manufacturer, eliminating the need for elaborate raw data manipulations.

Clostridioides difficile infections (CDIs) are the most common cause of acquired diseases in hospitalized patients. Effective surface disinfection, focused on the inactivation of the spores of this pathogen, is a decisive factor in reducing the number of nosocomial cases of CDI infections. An efficient disinfection procedure is the result of both the properties of the biocidal agent used and the technology of its implementation as well as a reliable, experimental methodology for assessing the activity of the biocidal active substance based on laboratory models that adequately represent real clinical conditions. This study reviews the state of knowledge regarding the properties and biochemical basis of the action mechanisms of sporicidal substances, with emphasis on chlorine dioxide (ClO2). Among the analyzed biocides, in addition to ClO2, active chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, and glutaraldehyde were characterized. Due to the relatively high sporicidal effectiveness and effective control of bacterial biofilm, as well as safety in a health and environmental context, the use of ClO2 is an attractive alternative in the control of nosocomial infections of CD etiology. In terms of the methods of assessing the biocidal effectiveness, suspension and carrier standards are discussed.

In the search for environmentally friendly materials, mycelium composites have been labelled as high potential bio-based alternatives to fossil-based and synthetic materials in various fields. Mycelium-based materials are praised for their biodegradability, however no scientific research nor standard protocols exist to substantiate this claim. This research therefore aims to develop an appropriate experimental methodology as well as to deliver a novel proof of concept of the material’s biodegradability. The applied methodology was adapted from a soil burial test under predefined laboratory conditions and hands-on preliminary experiments. The mycelium composite samples were placed in a nylon netting and then buried in potting soil with a grain size of 2 mm for different time-intervals ranging between one and sixteen weeks. Results showed that mycelium, which acted as the binder, had the tendency to decompose first. A weight loss of 43% was witnessed for inert samples made of the fungal strain Ganoderma resinaceum and hemp fibres after sixteen weeks. The disintegration rate in this method however depended on various parameters which were related to the material’s composition, its production method and the degradation process which involved the used equipment, materials and environmental properties.



The problem of this research focuses on the communication between the organizing center and the external tutors at practicum centers. A non-experimental methodology is followed to explore the connections between the different variables. Six correlations between the following variables stand out. Positive correlation: gender with sports specialty, academic degree with distance training expertise, and age with collaboration with the organization. Negative correlation: sportive degree with needed training and received information; and, collaboration with the organization with received information. In addition, a dendrogram was constructed from the qualitative question with five large nodules. The results indicate that tutors do not receive information and that they are not related to the organization at any of the formative moments. It would be convenient to prepare a communication protocol where all participants could contribute from different points of view.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Minecraft-game-based learning towards on 21st century skills among primary school students. This study employed quasi-experimental methodology. The dependent variable of this study was the 21st century skills. During Minecraft-game-based learning session, students were given the opportunity to build and recreate a world based on certain themes inside Minecraft world based on their creativity and imagination. The session involved a learning process of different skills and knowledge relevant to school and real world which was imitate inside the Minecraft world. The result shows that the intervention of Minecraft-game-based learning is effective in enhancing and retaining the 21st century skills among students. The implication of the study suggests that the functionality of Minecraft as a digital learning tool should be promoted as it involves students to work in a team to solve problems and have fun while acquiring and sharpening the students' 21st century skills.

The lack of a standard experimental procedure to determine thermal conductivity of fluids is noticeable in heat transfer processes from practical and fundamental perspectives. Since a wide variety of techniques have been used, reported literature data have huge discrepancies. A common practice is using manufactured thermal conductivity meters for nanofluids, which can standardize the measurements but are also somewhat inaccurate. In this study, a new methodology to perform reliable measurements with a recent commercial transient hot-wire device is introduced. Accordingly, some extensively studied fluids in the literature (water, ethylene glycol, ethylene glycol:water mixture 50:50 vol%, propylene glycol, and n-tetradecane) covering the range 0.100 to 0.700 W m−1 K−1 were used to check the device in the temperature range 283.15 to 333.15 K. Deviations between the collected data and the theoretical model, and repeatabilities and deviations between reported and literature values, were analyzed. Systematic deviations in raw data were found, and a correction factor depending on the mean thermal conductivity was proposed to operate with nanofluids. Considering all tested effects, the expanded (k = 2) uncertainty of the device was set as 5%. This proposed methodology was also checked with n-hexadecane and magnesium-oxide-based n-tetradecane nanofluids.
