The interest of linguists in research findings from various fields of humanities and natural sciences is not waning. It has increased in recent years, inter alia, as a result of new ministerial regulations providing opportunities for more flexible evaluation of researchers and academic units. However, this interest stems primarily from the subject of linguistics itself. Linguists, having as their subject the linguistic and communicative properties of humans, cannot do without systematically following the results and research methods applied by the representatives of even those disciplines that only marginally take into account human beings, their genesis, nature, goals, or social functions. The interdisciplinary research involved here is simply natural for contemporary linguists. It is not easy to comprehensively present the initiatives resulting from such research in a single publication. The content of this work deals primarily with research that enjoys full acceptance in contemporary linguistic discourse. It is also full of innovative reflections on a number of relationships conceivable between linguistics and other sciences. These relationships are dealt with by the authors in the subject areas they have outlined.

Evolutionary processes are conditioned both by unique phenomena and probabilistic ones. Given probabilistic factors, one may speak of changeability of evolution. This essay attempts to model evolutionary processes by modeling changeability in the natural sciences. Yet a framework of determinism and indeterminism appears inadequate to apprehend evolutionary processes. Autodeterminism is a more promising framework for addressing the causal, functional, and probabilistic dimension of evolution. Such an approach ensures the possibility of perceiving and presenting the complexity of evolution. The essay proposes that the synthetic theory of evolution conjoins factors of evolution, determinism, and changeability. The question still remains whether one can say that real being, which exists in the stream of time, is the subject of philosophy. This puzzle may be resdved by showing that besides the scientific cognition of nature, there is another possible cognition--the philosophical cognition. This is reflected in a significant group of problems of philosophical cosmology which are not addressed by the natural sciences due to their research methods.

The novelty of this paper resides in the fact that its co-authors analyze processes of urban formation and architectural development from the perspective of the city’s performance of social functions. The co-authors study religion as a social institution and the role that it plays in the emergence of medieval cities and in the arrangement of external and internal environments of human beings in present-day cities. Their role is determined as innovative. The performance by the institution of religion of its historic function is studied from the standpoint of the concept of sustainable development. The methodology of this research project is based on the retrospective analysis of historical documents, the comparative analysis of built-up areas, housing planning in traditional and contemporary societies, and the systems concept. As a result of this research, the co-authors have successfully identified several features typical for the operation of the institution of church in a medieval city. The co-authors have analyzed the way the Christian ideology determines the interior and the architectural landscape. The co-authors outline the areas for the application of their research findings. The co-authors believe that these findings must be taken account of in the course of restoration performed in a contemporary megalopolis and in the process of study of the history of urban settlements.

This paper discusses the methodology dominantly used in accounting research, namely, mainstream accounting research methodology. This methodology which relies on the methodology of natural sciences and is called hypothetico-deductive approach assumes that human beings are passive objects and has no power to create social realities. As a result, accounting tends to be seen as an objective information separated from its social environment. This belief has created many disadvantages to the development of accounting practices and accounting research itself. Accounting research tends to be separated from accounting practices. Consequently, a lot of research findings cannot be applied in accounting practice. Thus, accountingresearch and accounting theorizing may not produce a real answer to the accounting problems.

The subject matter of the study is the development of integrated reporting in the world. The purpose of the research paper is to describe the development stages of integrated reporting and to examine the dynamics of its formation and introduction in the world over the period between 2012 and 2016.Historical and dialectical research methods are used for analyzing the development of integrated reporting in different countries of the world. Other research methods for studying the development of integrated reporting include analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, abstraction, idealization and generalization. The research findings can serve as a basis for introducing integrated reporting in domestic corporations and for defining its economic essence. Applying integrated reporting primarily refers to corporate enterprises.

The article presents a methodological approach to studying iterative processes in the school course of geometry, by the example of constructing a Koch snowflake fractal curve and calculating a few characteristics of it. The interactive creative environment 1C:MathKit is chosen to visualize the method discussed. By performing repetitive constructions and algebraic calculations using ICT tools, students acquire a steady skill of work with geometric objects of various levels of complexity, comprehend the possibilities of mathematical interpretation of iterative processes in practice, and learn how to understand the dialectical unity between finite and infinite parameters of flat geometric figures. When students are getting familiar with such contradictory concepts and categories, that replenishes their experience of worldview comprehension of the subject areas they study through the concept of “big ideas”. The latter allows them to take a fresh look at the processes in the world around. The article is a matter of interest to schoolteachers of computer science and mathematics, as well as university scholars who teach the course “Concepts of modern natural sciences”.

The object of the research when writing the work was the body of text data collected together with the scientific advisor and the algorithms for processing the natural language of analysis. The stream of hypotheses has been tested against computer science scientific publications through a series of simulation experiments described in this dissertation. The subject of the research is algorithms and the results of the algorithms, aimed at predicting promising topics and terms that appear in the course of time in the scientific environment. The result of this work is a set of machine learning models, with the help of which experiments were carried out to identify promising terms and semantic relationships in the text corpus. The resulting models can be used for semantic processing and analysis of other subject areas.
