At present, Ukraine has the necessary potential for the implementation of effective energy-saving technologies for heat recovery, and therefore the problem of their development and implementation is relevant for the country's energy sector. The solution of this problem is related to the need for systematic studies of the efficiency of optimization of heat recovery facilities from the standpoint of modern methodological approaches. The paper outlines the main stages in the development of integrated methods for assessing the efficiency and optimization of heat recovery systems based on the principles of exergic analysis, statistical methods for planning the experiment, structured variational methods, multilevel optimization methods, the theory of linear systems and the thermodynamics of irreversible processes. Examples and illustrations illustrate some of the stages in the development of complex methods. The necessary general step in the development of methodologies is the development of new performance criteria. Such criteria are highly sensitive to changes in the regime and design parameters of heat recovery systems due to the inclusion of some exergic characteristics in them. The developed criteria also serve as target optimization functions. For individual elements of heat recovery systems, efficiency and optimization methods usually include the definition of the functional dependencies of the selected efficiency criteria on the main parameters. For this, balance methods of exergic analysis and statistical methods of experiment planning are used. If such dependencies are established, optimization is carried out using known mathematical methods. For complex heat recovery systems involving a large number of elements, it is not possible to establish general analytical dependencies of the optimization objective functions on the parameters of the system when constructing mathematical models necessary for their optimization. Complex methods based on the basic principles of structural-variant methods, methods of multilevel optimization, the theory of linear systems, and the thermodynamics of irreversible processes have been developed for such cases. For this purpose, structural diagrams of plants, block diagrams of multi-level optimization have been developed, complete input matrices have been constructed, mathematical models for the processes under investigation have been developed, formulas have been derived for calculating the loss of exergy power in heat conduction processes and formulas for calculating dissipators of exergy. A well-founded choice of the methodology for evaluating efficiency and optimization raises the effectiveness of optimization, since it allows the use of parameters maximally close to optimal when developing the heat recovery system design, which in turn increases the efficiency of the system. The results of optimizing the parameters of the heat recovery system of a boiler plant designed to heat return water are presented. The feasibility of using a technique that combines methods of exergy analysis experimental planning theory and multilevel optimization to optimize plant parameters is analyzed. It is emphasized that the efficiency of heat recovery systems optimized using the above technique is 2-3% higher than the efficiency of systems optimized using other optimization techniques. In addition, the specified method allows to take into account a significant part of the technical losses in the heat recovery system and to optimize a large number of parameters. The main stages of a comprehensive methodology are given. At each stage, the above methods are used to develop mathematical models and obtain dependences of exergy efficiency criteria on the parameters of the heat recovery system. The results of calculating the optimum values of operating and design parameters for the considered heat recovery system of the boiler unit are presented.

this paper studies the typical irreversible processes such as combustion and heat transfer with temperature difference based on the theory of thermodynamics, analyzes the influencing factors on exergy loss in irreversible processes, on the basis of this analysis, proposes the energy-saving optimization measures on design and operation management of the organic heat transfer material heater, and specially points out that in the design process, objective function can be constructed with the exergy loss as evaluation index to determine the outlet flue gas temperature of furnace and the flue gas temperature, and provides theoretical basis for the determination of design parameters.

Since the late 1960s Wiener's theory on the non-linear functionals of white noise has been widely applied to the construction of mathematical models of non-linear systems, especially in the field of biology. For such applications the main part is the measurement of Wiener's kernels, for which two methods have been proposed: one by Wiener himself and the other by Lee and Schetzen. The aim of this paper is to show that there is another method based on Hida's differential operator.

We investigate Newton-type optimization methods for solving piecewise linear systems (PLSs) with nondegenerate coefficient matrix. Such systems arise, for example, from the numerical solution of linear complementarity problem, which is useful to model several learning and optimization problems. In this letter, we propose an effective damped Newton method, PLS-DN, to find the exact (up to machine precision) solution of nondegenerate PLSs. PLS-DN exhibits provable semiiterative property, that is, the algorithm converges globally to the exact solution in a finite number of iterations. The rate of convergence is shown to be at least linear before termination. We emphasize the applications of our method in modeling, from a novel perspective of PLSs, some statistical learning problems such as box-constrained least squares, elitist Lasso (Kowalski & Torreesani, 2008 ), and support vector machines (Cortes & Vapnik, 1995 ). Numerical results on synthetic and benchmark data sets are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of PLS-DN on these problems.

Prediction of internal stability for segmental retaining walls reinforced with geogrid and backfilled with residual soil was carried out using statistical methods and artificial neural networks (ANN). Prediction was based on data obtained from 234 segmental retaining wall designs using procedures developed by the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA). The study showed that prediction made using ANN was generally more accurate to the target compared with statistical methods using mathematical models of linear, pure quadratic, full quadratic and interactions.

The coupled model is presented to describe the elements penetration into the surface layer of metal during the process of ion implantation. Mechanical stresses arising due to the interaction of particles with the surface affect the redistribution of the implanted impurity. In addition, the existence of vacancies in the metal surface and their generation under the stresses influence are taken into account. The kinetic law is written on the basis of the thermodynamics of irreversible processes. The solution had been found numerically. As a result, the distributions of impurity concentration and deformations have been obtained for various time moments. The comparison of the concentration profiles with vacancies and without their have been given.
