This study aims to determine the relationship between pain perception and self-care with the quality of life of people with type 2 diabetes. This research method is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study approach. The results showed that the majority of respondents were female, the age of the majority of respondents was 54.7 years, the majority of respondents' education was SMA-PT, the majority of DM treatment used pills / oral drugs, the majority of DM complications were neuropathy, the majority had long suffered from DM, which was an average of 7, 85 years, there is a significant relationship between pain perception and self-care, there is an important relationship between pain perception and DM quality of life, there is no critical relationship. In conclusion, there is no significant relationship between pain perception and quality of life for type 2 diabetes. There is no meaningful relationship between self-care and quality of life for type 2 diabetes.   Keywords: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Quality of Life, Self Care, Perception of Disease

BACKGROUND: Diabetes is a type of chronic disease with exceptional medical care for a patient's lifetime, which ultimately requires lifestyle and behavioural adjustments to prevent complications to death. Patients with good self-care behaviour will cause diabetes to be controlled to avoid complications to death and make patients have a better quality of life. AIM: This study aims (1) to determine the model of self-care behaviour in Type 2 diabetes patients in Binjai City (2) to analyse the effect of self-care behaviour on quality of life, metabolic control and lipid control of Type 2 diabetes patients in Binjai City. METHODS: This type of research is survey-based and explanatory using a cross-sectional approach. The study population was Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients who remained patients in 8 primary health centres in Binjai City. The consecutive sampling yielded a sample size of 115 people. Data analysis method uses descriptive statistics and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SPSS and Amos 16.0. RESULTS: The results showed that all factors that build T2DM patient self-care behaviour were able to be predictors that shape the patient's self-care behaviour. The self-care behaviour model consists of knowledge, attitudes, communication, financing, family support, motivation, and self-efficacy. Motivation is the most significant predictor of its contribution to the self-care behaviour of Type 2 diabetes patients. Self-care behaviour was also known to be significantly related to the quality of life, metabolic control and lipid control of T2DM patients (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Self-care behaviour in T2DM patients can have a substantial and significant impact on quality of life, metabolic control and lipid control possessed by Type 2 Diabetes patients.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the health-related quality of life and clinical parameters of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, which was undertaken with 73 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in a health unit of the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) [Brazilian Unified Health System] in Ribeirão Preto city, São Paulo State, Brazil, in 2016. The DQOL-Brazil questionnaire, which covers the domains of satisfaction, impact, social and/or vocational concerns, and concerns about diabetes mellitus, was used for data collection. Results: Most of the participants were female, married, and retired with an average age of 62.7 years old. The domain of vocational and/or social concerns had the best score for quality of life while satisfaction had the worst. The quality of life of patients with altered glycated hemoglobin levels was worse than that of patients without such alterations. For those with unchanged hemoglobin glycated levels, the domain of social and/or vocational concerns had the best quality of life scores while the domain of satisfaction had the worst. Conclusion: The results can help the development of intervention studies and strategic plans in health services.

Background: Quality of life (QoL) is a standard indicating a person’s life in better condition as compared to a diseased person or patient. Diabetes itself is not a dangerous disease if managed properly, but it becomes life-threatening after a certain time period because of the patient’s poor interest in disease management and treatment adherence. Diabetes mellitus is an endocrine system disorder that invokes lack of insulin secretion in the bloodstream. The study was conducted to assess the QoL of type-2 diabetes mellitus patients with QoL instrument.Methods: Questionnaire based cross-sectional, prospective study was conducted at Teerthanker Mahaveer Hospital, Moradabad, for a duration of 6 months from January - June 2019, on 196 patients of type-2 diabetes mellitus.Results: On an average 56.5% people have accepted that due to the diabetic condition their working proficiency is decreased. 80.3% of patients have accepted that they were facing problems due to diabetic symptoms. Similarly, 84% of patients have accepted that the ongoing treatment was quite expensive than their expectations. Finally, the last section of the patient’s emotional/mental satisfaction showed that 49.7% of patients were very satisfied with their family support while 13.7% of patients were not satisfied.Conclusions: QOL instrument for Indian diabetes patient’s instrument helped to evaluate the patient’s physical strength, psychological strength of the patient during disease condition, the response provided from the family members and relatives, the economical status of the patient and its effects on their living.

Abstract Purpose This study aims to explore the incidence of hypoglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and the influence of hypoglycemia on the specific quality of life in T2DM patients.Methods It was a comparative cross-sectional study consisting of 519 T2DM patients in Xi'an, China and patients were investigated by self-reported hypoglycemia and specific quality of life questionnaires during September 2019 to January 2020. Descriptive analysis, t-test, Chi-square test, hierarchical regression analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used to assess the influence of hypoglycemia on the specific quality of life. Results The incidence of hypoglycemia in T2DM patients was 32.18%. The mean score of specific quality of life in diabetes without hypoglycemia was 57.33±15.36 and was 61.56±17.50 in those with hypoglycemia, which indicated that hypoglycemia had a serious impact on the quality of life diabetics (t=-5.172, p=0.000). In the Univariate analysis of specific quality of life, age, education background, marital status, living status, duration of diabetes, monthly income per capita were independent and significant factors associated with specific quality of life of two groups of T2DM patients (P<0.05). In the hierarchical regression analysis, the duration of the diabetes more than 11 years and the frequency of hypoglycemia more than 6 times in half a year entered the equation of specific quality of life of 519 diabetics respectively (P<0.001). In multiple linear regression analysis, age, marital status and income both entered the regression equation of quality of life of the two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion Hypoglycemia will have a serious impact on the quality of life of T2DM patients. In order to improve the living quality in diabetics, effective measurements should be taken to strengthen the management of blood glucose and avoid hypoglycemia.
