Investment levels in agricultural businesses specializing in dairy cattle production in Polish FADN regions were compared based on data for 2004-2016. The analysis included gross and net investments (variables FADN SE516 and SE521) and investment subsidies (variable SE406). The research shows that agricultural holdings specializing in dairy cattle farming in the years 2004-2016 in the FADN Wielkopolska and Śląsk region and in the region of Pomerania and Masuria have reached the level of gross investment per one farm on average annually higher than the average annual level of gross investment in Poland. Farms specializing in dairy cattle farming in the FADN regions of Mazowsze and Podlasie, as well as Małopolska and Pogórze have achieved a lower level of gross investment per farm than on average per year in Poland. The average level of net investment per one agricultural holding specializing in dairy cattle farming in the regions of FADN Wielkopolska and Śląsk, Pomorze and Mazury as well as Mazowsze and Podlasie was of a positive value, whereas in the Małopolska and Pogórze region it was negative. Studies have shown that agricultural farms specializing in dairy cattle farming in the Wielkopolska and Śląsk regions developed the fastest among all farms in Poland, while the fastest growing farms specializing in dairy cattle farming are found in the Małopolska and Pogórze regions.

SUMMARYOn a coastal farm in New South Wales where beef and dairy cattle production was carried on side-by-side, separate pasture plots were contaminated with eggs of Ostertagia ostertagi by calves from each production system in autumn, winter or spring. Successive groups of parasite-free tracer calves grazed on the plots for 14 days at 4-week intervals and were then killed for worm counts 14 days after removal from pasture. On all plots, the proportion of inhibited early 4th-stage larvae in tracer calves reached a maximum in spring, and was consistently and very significantly higher in calves which grazed plots contaminated with O. ostertagi of beef cattle origin. Factors which may be responsible for this difference between beef and dairy cattle populations of O. ostertagi are discussed.

Data on body measurements like BL (body length), CG (chest girth), WH (wither height) TM (test day milk production), PM (peak milk production), LP (lactation period), CFDC (cost for concentrate feed before test day milk production per cow), GGU (green grass used before test day milk production per cow) and husbandry practices, were collected from a total of 100 dairy cattle at the villages of Islampur upazila under the district of Jamalpur in Bangladesh from January to February 2017. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS software. The highest BL, CG, WH, CFDC and GGU were 175.71±0.42 cm, 161.74±0.24 cm,123.82±0.11 cm 125.54±0.24 bdt/cow/day and 27.29±0.89 kg/cow/day, respectively. The highest amounts of TM, PM and LP were 9.36±0.60 liter/cow, 13.11±0.54 liter/cow and 247.14±1.47 days/cow, respectively. BL, CG and WH increased with increased of the age of crossbred cattle up to 150 months of old. Similarly, CFDC and GGU increased with the increased of the age of crossbred cattle up to 150 months of old. Farmers in the study area were not interested to keep breeding bulls for breeding purpose but they were using artificial insemination system to inseminate their cows and aware about production performance record of the inseminating bull. Farmers took health services from milk vita and sold milk to the same. They believed that dairy cattle rearing a profitable livelihood. TM, PM and LP increased with the increased of the age of crossbred cattle up to 150 months of old. However, increase of CFDC will increase TM, LP and PM but increase of GGU will increase only LP. A thermotolerant fermentative mixed consortium (TFMC) has been screened by directional high temperature stress acclimation for biohydrogen production. The kinetics and metabolic characteristics of TFMC for hydrogen production at high temperature has also been studied. the TFMC can achieve stable hydrogen production under mesophilic conditions at 38 °C with the maximum potential hydrogen production of 665.09 mL, which is decreases by 9.27% as compared to the original mixed consortium at 30 °C. The TFMC also has characteristic of short lag time of 27 h which is 22 h lower than initial group and high hydrogen production rate of 9.48 mL/h which improved 12.9%. The newly obtained TFMC highlights a great potential for biohydrogen production in tropical areas.
