The aim of the present study was to explore the mediating role of patience on the relationship between mindfulness and suicide ideation. To do so, 110 patients with cardiovascular diseases were recruited from the outpatient Clinic of Imam Reza in the city of Shiraz in Iran. These patients completed The Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire, Patience Scale, and Suicide Ideation Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results indicated a significant positive relationship between mindfulness and patience ( r = .32, p < .001). There was a significant negative relationship between patience and suicide ideation ( r = −.36, p < .001). The results of mediating model showed that patience functioned as a mediator in the relationship between mindfulness and suicide ideation among patients with cardiovascular diseases ( β = −.33, p = .005). According to these findings, it can be claimed that mindfulness affects patients’ suicidal thoughts negatively through patience.

The objective of this research was to investigate not only the relationship among workplace Ostracism (WPO), psychological capital (PC), and job performance (JP) but also to test the mediating role of PC between WPO and JP. Data were gathered from 278 employees of public sector universities. Statistical Package for Social Sciences and Amos was used to test the relationship among all variables. Structure equation modeling was employed to test the developed model. The results showed that WPO had a significant negative relationship with PC and JP while a significant positive relationship between PC and JP was found. Furthermore, the results revealed that PC partially mediated the relationship between WPO and JP.

AbstractWe examined the relationship between body size and pursuit success in the lizard Cnemidophorus uniparens. Using grasshoppers as prey in experimental feeding trials, we found a significant positive relationship between lizard body size and pursuit time. In addition, larger individuals were significantly more likely to be unsuccessful at capturing the grasshoppers. We also examined the relationship between the mean body size of Cnemidophorus populations and diet composition. We found a significant negative relationship between mean body size and the proportion of grasshoppers in the diet and a significant positive relationship between mean body size and the proportion of termites in the diet.

Two studies were conducted to determine whether an antecedent of ineffective communication, cognitive incongruence, is related to raised states of anxiety and to lower achievement. A response paradigm derived from Rogers' self theory was considered as a possible explanation of the frequently observed negative correlation between anxiety and achievement. It was hypothesized that there was a significant positive relationship between student/lecturer congruence and student performance with that lecturer, and that there was a significant negative relationship between student/lecturer congruence and student anxiety. The findings of both studies supported these hypotheses. The results lend support to the Rogers/Hogan paradigm as a potential explanation of the relationship between anxiety and achievement.

The objective of this research was not only to investigate the relationship between working environment (WE) and job burnout (JB), WE and organizational commitment (OC), WE and psychological capital PsychCap, OC and JB, PsychCap and JB but also to investigate the mediating effect of OC and PsychCap between the relationship of working environment and JB of doctors working in hospitals of KP, Pakistan. Data were collected from three hundred and thirty doctors. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between WE and JB, OC and JB, PsychCap and JB while positive relationship was found between WE and OC, WE and PsychCap. The results also explored that OC partially mediated the relationship between WE and JB. PsychCap also partially mediated the relationship between WE and JB. When both OC and PsychCap were included as mediators, the relationship between WE and JB became insignificant (full mediation).

The paper examines the co-dependency of employee work and victimisation in the workplace. The mediating role of employee co-dependency is investigated through the relationship between two variables, age and workplace victimisation. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between co-dependency and victimisation. In addition, co-dependency is found to be a mediator between age and victimisation. The paper concludes by arguing that instead of dealing with workplace harassment/bullying only through legal means, a preventive intervention targeting victimisation is more effective.

The 2 types of exchange relationship perceptions—social exchange relationship perceptions (SERPs) and economic exchange relationship perceptions (EERPs)—constitute the primary concept for understanding individual behavior in the workplace. Using a sample of 581 employees from Mainland China, I explored the effects of SERPs and EERPs on employee extrarole behavior (ERB), as well as the moderating effect of organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) on the relationships between SERPs and ERB, and between EERPs and ERB. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between SERPs and ERB, a significant negative relationship between EERPs and ERB, and a significant moderating effect for OBSE. Theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.
