Background: Prolapse of the rectum is an uncommon problem. It is defined as a protrusion of the rectum through the anus and can cause disability. There is no concensus in literature which surgical approach is the most appropriate. The aim of our case report is to share our experiance and results of the Altemeier procedure.  Case report: 83 years old female patient was admited to the department for general and abdominal surgery. She was diagnosed with rectal prolapse, which could not be reponated. She felt pain and was incontinent.  Results: We decided that optimal treatment for the patient was operation. Altemeier approach was performed. In our opinion, we achieved a favorable outcome.  Conclusion: As stated above there is no clear concensus on which treatment is the most appropriate for rectal prolaps. In our case after careful consideration, we decided that the Altemeier approach was the best solution for the patient.

Introduction. Full impaction of canines, in both jaws, is a rare phenomenon. It is usually coupled with the persistence of deciduous canines, or any other irregularity in the dental arch. Case report. Panoramic radiograph of a 24-year-old female patient showed bilateral canine impaction in both jaws. Due to vestibular, apical and medial position of canines in the upper jaw, the surgical approach implied the apically positioned flap technique. The position of impacted mandibular canines was vertical with more coronal position relative to the upper canines, thus requiring a closed eruption technique. Conclusion. Inadequate position of impacted canines in the bone fully justifies the use of orthodontic-surgical treatment.

The purpose of this article was to present a case report of 11–year old female patient with a large osteolytic mandibular lesion which healed after endodontic treatment. The patient was referred for radio diagnostics due to an incidental finding of a large osteolytic lesion of the area of the left lower first and second premolars in the panoramic radiograph taken before orthodontic treatment. CBCT was performed and the patient asked to have teeth 33-35 treated by endodontics before surgery. The patient missed the surgical appointment and when she reappeared several months later, the lesion showed signs of healing thus surgery were aborted. The presented case testifies to the observation that even large osteolytic lesions can heal after endodontic treatment without surgical approach.

Introduction. Due to its contents and relations with neighboring regions, the infratemporal fossa has a great clinical significance. Primary tumors of this region, both benign and malignant, are rare, but they do require surgical treatment, which is determined by the size and localization of the tumor. Case Report. The paper presents the case of a 72-year-old female patient who was referred to hospital for paresthesia in the left half of the face after having been found to have a tumor of left infratmeporal fossa by imaging methods. The tumor was completely removed by transfacial-transzygomatic approach and, according to histopathological findings, it was a schwannoma. The postoperative course was without complications and the patient did not have any discomforts at the check-up a month later. Conclusion. In addition to the accurate diagnosis, the success rate of the surgical treatment of tumors depends on the appropriate surgical approach to ensure the complete removal of the tumor while preserving the content of the infratemporal region.

AbstractHemangioma is a benign neoplasm that may affect the vulva, and it can cause functional or emotional disability. This article reports the case of a 52-year-old female patient with a history of a genital ulcer for the past 3 years and who had undergone various treatments with creams and ointments. The patient was biopsied and diagnosed with vulvar hemangioma and was subsequently submitted to surgical excision of the lesion. We emphasize the importance of following the steps of the differential diagnosis and proceeding with a surgical approach only if necessary.

Among the ways to approach cases of ectopic teeth, the surgical approach is a valid option and should be considered, since it is considered simple and it permits direct visualization and a rapid recovery. The aim of this article is to report a rare case of ectopic tooth in the lateral wall of the nasal cavity caused by trauma in the maxillofacial region in childhood, and to describe its clinical and imaging characteristics as well as ways of treatment and surgical aspects. A 25-year-old woman was seen at the clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology due to the presence of a foreign body in the nose. A treatment plan was elaborated based on physical and radiographic examination. The tooth was removed by a surgical approach and the patient underwent esthetic rehabilitation. Surgical treatment of ectopic teeth provides a good and satisfactory postoperative result, is simple and mostly without complications. Ectopic teeth are rare, and the professional should be able to perform the diagnosis, indication and planning of treatment, as well as its execution. Surgical treatment is an option that produced an effective result in the present case.Descriptors: Mouth; Tooth, Impacted; Ambulatory Surgical Procedures.ReferencesVerma RK, Bakshi J, Panda NK. Chondrosarcoma is one of the most common tumors in adults. Correct grading of chondrosarcoma is the most important criterion that defines the course of surgical treatment. A case report of a 56 years old female patient with chondrosarcoma of the pelvic bone is presented. The assistance of magnetic resonance tomography in accurate grading of the tumor is shown.

The authors present the case of a 58-year-old female patient with a history of multiple episodes of acute dacryocistitis, treated by irrigation of the lacrimal punctum. She is admitted to our clinic for swelling of the lacrimal sac and mucopurulent discharge on applying pressure over the lacrimal sac. In spite of several irrigations, patients’ symptoms persisted and thus surgical treatment was decided. We performed a dacryocystorhinostomy with a lacrimal stent which was inserted by endonasal approach to reestablish the nasolacrimal connection. The patient didn’t require nasal packing and was discharged three days after surgery.

ABSTRACTOdontogenic myxomas are uncommon tumors of comprising of 3% of all the tumors of odontogenic origin. They usually occur during the second and third decades of life and are more commonly seen in females. The current case report sheds light upon the surgical treatment of a myxoma of odontogenic origin in posterior maxilla of a young female patient. Prosthodontic rehabilitation stages are also briefly described following complete healing of the lesion after surgery.
