Smart homes, which are an important component of the Internet of Things (IoT) provides an effective service for users by communicating with various digital devices based on IoT. IoT-based smart home technology has transformed the lives of humans by providing everyone with a connection independently from time and space. However, due to various challenges such as privacy, security, and price, problems are experienced by consumers in terms of accepting smart home technologies. In the study, it was aimed to develop a model for accepting smart home technologies, and based on the results obtained, it was attempted to determine what factors affect the consumers' intention to buy smart home systems. In this context, with the help of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), a research model was designed for the purchaser of a home as a product. In the research model, it was investigated what kind of effects perceived psychological factors (perceived ease of use, perceived intelligence, perceived suitability, perceived price, and perceived risk of privacy) have on the purpose and behavior of using IoT systems through perceived benefit. In addition, the relationship between sensory and emotional experiences of consumers, psychological perception factors and perceived usefulness was tested.  Data was collected by conducting an online survey questionnaire completed by 430 respondents. Partial least squares (PLSs) was explored to test the theoretical model. The research results show that perceived psychological factors (perceived ease of use, perceived connectivity, perceived intelligence, perceived convenience, and perceived privacy risk) have significant effect on the intention and behavior of IOT systems usage through perceived benefit. In terms of sensory and emotional experience, it only softens the relationship between the perceived privacy risk of emotional experience and the perceived benefit.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to answer “Why do Chinese consumers use IOT systems?” and “Do consumers’ cognitive and affect experiences moderate the relationship between psychological perception factors and perceived usefulness?” Design/methodology/approach In-depth interview with consumers and experts had been conducted and then the perceived psychological factors that influence perceived usefulness had been summarized. Based on a survey test of 337 smart home users, this study applies partial least squares technique analysis to test the research model. Findings The research results show that perceived psychological factors (perceived ease of use, perceived intelligence, perceived convenience and perceived privacy risk) have significant effect on the intention and behavior of IOT systems usage through perceived usefulness. Cognitive experience moderates the relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, perceived privacy risk and perceived usefulness; affect experience moderates the relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Research limitations/implications The current study mainly tested the antecedents of consumers’ usage of IOT systems, and the outcome of using the system was not investigated. Future research can examine the outcome (e.g. satisfaction, perceived value) by using the expectation-confirmation theory. Originality/value This study provides a useful insight into the key driving factors in consumers’ intention and behavior of using IOT systems. The previous studies over IOT systems have not observed consumers’ perception of IOT systems, but in fact IOT systems are being applied to more and more personal users.

Augmented reality (AR) applications can be used in almost all education and training environments. In this study, it reveals the relationship between perceived usefulness, utility and attitudes regarding the use of AR applications in educational environments as well as the relationship between attitude levels and academic achievements. It also reveals the effect of AR application use on academic achievement in education. According to the findings obtained in the study, the followings have been found: the perceived ease of use of students regarding AR applications in educational environments has a strong positive effect on perceived benefit; the perceived benefit and ease of use influence the attitude levels strongly in the positive direction; there is no semantic relation between attitude levels and academic achievement; and the use of AR applications in educational processes increases the academic achievement of students.

Constant developments of technology and increases in labor costs are the two major reasons for the creation and continuous evolvement of technology-based self services. Consumers' technology readiness should be taken into account in predicting the perception and behavior of potential consumers towards Self Service Technologies. An empirical study of consumers' readiness to use technology based self-services was undertaken in Greece. A survey instrument was developed to investigate the relationship between technology readiness, attitude, perceived ease of use, usefulness and consumers readiness towards adoption of Self Service Technologies. The results showed that population's technology readiness, the attitude of potential consumers towards and perceived usefulness of Self Service Technologies, are the factors that mostly affect their final success, since they define the level of readiness towards these services on behalf of potential consumers.

This research explores the influencing factors of learning satisfaction in blended learning. Three dimensions are proposed: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and learning motivation. It studied how these variables affect students’ learning satisfaction. The research hypotheses are: (1) Perceived ease of use positively affects perceived usefulness; (2) Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use will have a positive effect on learning motivation; (3) Learning motivation positively affects learning satisfaction; (4) Perceived usefulness has a positive intermediary effect on the relationship between perceived ease of use and learning motivation. Participants included 173 freshmen who took the first-year interactive game design course at Ling Tung University in Taichung, Taiwan. The questionnaire survey method is applied in this research to analyze the relationship between the variables and verify the hypothesis based on the collected 173 valid questionnaires. The partial least square method structural equation model (PLS-SEM) is used to carry out structural equation modeling to study the relationship between latent variables. It explains that the perceived ease of use affects the perceived usefulness. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have a positive impact on learning motivation. Learning motivation has a positive impact on learning satisfaction. Perceived usefulness as an intermediary factor of perceived ease of use has an indirect impact on learning motivation. The contribution of this research is to provide empirical evidence and explain what factors may affect learning satisfaction. Some other related factors that may affect learning satisfaction should be taken as the factors that teachers should pay attention to when implementing blended learning.

We studied the mechanism of the influence of the Internet of Things (IOT) product characteristics on consumer purchase intention. The results of a survey of 360 consumers showed that 6 dimensions of IOT product characteristics influence purchase intention; namely connectivity, interactivity, telepresence, intelligence, convenience, and security. We found that customer experience was the key mediating variable in the relationship between IOT product characteristics and purchase intention. Connectivity, interactivity, telepresence, intelligence, convenience, and security all positively influenced purchase intention via functional experience. Furthermore, connectivity, telepresence, convenience, and security positively influenced purchase intention via emotional experience. Our findings in the study provide some points of reference for improvement of IOT product design.

Purpose Global digital payment transactions increase continuously. Due to the inconsistencies that occurred across the research findings, past researchers have called for further investigation to verify and empirically test the mobile payment acceptance model. The purpose of this paper is to develop an integrative model that is derived from the multiple technology acceptance models (TAM)’s a theoretical framework and past literature to understand how consumers decided to adopt mobile payment. By simultaneously testing mechanisms, namely, ease of use, usefulness and risk, the current study will be able to advance scholarly knowledge of the underlying consumer’s attitude and behavior that link social influence to intention to use. Design/methodology/approach A total of 370 valid responses were collected using self-administered questionnaires distributed via online platforms, a representative for Thai consumers. An ordinary least square regression and bootstrap analyzes were conducted through PROCESS Macro to analyze the moderated serial-multiple mediation model in the consecutive inducing of social influence, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and perceived risk toward the consumer’s intention to use mobile payment. Findings Within the context of consumers evaluating a mobile payment, statistics significant were found for the hypothesized direct and indirect effects of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on an intention to use. The results showed that Thai consumers’ intention to use mobile payment was significantly affected by their attitudes in terms of usefulness and the less complication in using the applications. It is confirmed that social influence indirectly affects intention to use via the increase of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The study also found a significant interaction between perceived risk and perceived usefulness toward intention to use. Practical implications It is recommended to service providers to continue improving the user-friendliness, navigation, integrity and furnish the system with more value-added activities within the mobile payment application. It is also essential for the company to deliver tutorials and clear and easy-to-follow instructions to customers. At the same time, the marketer should develop marketing strategies to promote the usefulness and simplicity of using the applications to the consumers. When consumers experienced the easiness and usefulness of the applications, these could overcome the resistance feeling to use due to the concern on any potential risk. Originality/value The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on consumer usage behavior and TAM by integrating all important variables and developed a parsimony framework to explain consumers’ usage adoption on mobile payment. Moreover, the current study was the very first that proposed and tested a serial of multiple mediations of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, moderated by perceived risk, in the relationship between social influence and consumers’ intention to use mobile payment and discovered a moderating role of perceived risk toward the relationship between perceived usefulness and mobile payment usage intention.

Smart home services (SHSs) afford users an effective lifestyle management system, which provides human-oriented networking of smart devices and applications that enable users to control their homes from anywhere at any time. Despite the benefits of SHSs, however, their acceptance is very low. There remains a gap in the literature in terms of a comprehensive model that addresses users’ intention to use SHSs. To address this gap, the present study explored the factors that influence SHS acceptance among users based on well-established theoretical frameworks, such as the technology acceptance model, innovation diffusion theory, and the theory of planned behavior. To this end, the study integrated four additional factors, namely, perceived convenience, perceived connectedness, perceived cost, and perceived privacy risk, into the exploration and carried out structural equation modeling to quantitatively determine the effects of these factors. Questionnaires were administered to 750 users. The findings indicated that perceived compatibility, perceived convenience, perceived connectedness, perceived cost, perceived behavioral control with perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use directly and indirectly exerted a significant influence on users’ intention to use SHSs.

Indonesian Eastern Fleet Training Command currently has the facilities to train professional soldiers in the shooting.A simulator facility in the form of computer-based clinic shooting is called Virtual Arms Solution FTS D-423 (VAS).Need to analyse the relationship between perceived ease of use and usefulness of VAS in order to determine thelevel of acceptance. Both these factors are modelled by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) which canexplain the factors that influence the actual receipt of the use of technology. After that, the relationship between thetwo factors that have been modelled with the Technology Acceptance Model to be treated using Path Analysis(Path Analysis). Where the path analysis was used to analyse the causal relationships between variables in order todetermine the effect of the direct and indirect causes of the variable to a variable result. Based on the analysis anddiscussion, it is obtained as follows that the ease and usefulness of a positive effect on Attitude using VAS positiveeffect on Behavioural Intention using VAS. Behavioural intentions affect the Actual Usage.Keywords: Virtual Arms Solution, Technology Acceptance Model, Path Analysis.

This study investigates factors that influence the acceptance and use of e-Services. The research model includes factors such as user experience, user motivation, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use in explaining the process of e-Services acceptance, use, and continued use. The two core variables of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, are integrated into the Electronic Services Acceptance Model (E-SAM).

The purpose of this chapter is to examine the factors that influence small and medium-sized enterprises' (SMEs) intentions to use the investment account platform (IAP) based on technology acceptance model (TAM). The central hypothesis for this chapter was that SMEs' intentions to use IAP were a result of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. This chapter also suggested that perceived ease of use and intention was mediated by perceived usefulness of the IAP. Using primary data collection method, 163 questionnaires were collected from SMEs in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia using the purposive sampling technique. The data were analysed using SPSS and SmartPLS. The chapter found that perceived ease of use had significant influences on SMEs intention to use the IAP while perceived ease of use significantly affected perceived usefulness and the relationship between perceived ease of use and intention was mediated by perceived usefulness of the IAP. The results of this chapter suggested strategies to promote the platform as a fund seeking platform for SMEs.
