Citations have been an acceptable journal performance metric used by many indexing databases for inclusion and discontinuation of journals in their list. Therefore, editorial teams must maintain their journal performance by increasing article citations for continuous content indexing in the databases. With this aim in hand, this study intended to assist the editorial team of the Journal of Information and Communication Technology (JICT) in increasing the performance and impact of the journal. Currently, the journal has suffered from low citation count, which may jeopardise its sustainability. Past studies in library science suggested a positive correlation between keywords and citations. Therefore, keyword and topic analyses could be a solution to address the issue of journal citation. This article described a scientometric analysis of emerging topics in general computer science, the Scopus subject area for which JICT is indexed. This study extracted bibliometric data of the top 10% journals in the subject area to create a dataset of 5,546 articles. The results of the study suggested ten emerging topics in computer science that can be considered by the journal editorial team in selecting articles and a list of highly used keywords in articles published in 2019 and 2020 (as of 15 April 2020). The outcome of this study might be considered by the JICT editorial team and other journals in general computer science that suffer from a similar issue.

What are the landmark papers in scientific disciplines? Which papers are indispensable for scientific progress? These are typical questions which are of interest not only for researchers (who frequently know the answers – or guess to know them) but also for the interested general public. Citation counts can be used to identify very useful papers since they reflect the wisdom of the crowd – in this case, the scientists using published results for their research. In this study, we identified with recently developed methods for the program CRExplorer landmark publications in nearly all Web of Science subject categories (WoS-SCs). These are publications which belong more frequently than other publications during the citing years to the top-1‰ in their subject area. As examples, we show the results of five subject categories: ‘Information Science & Library Science’, ‘Computer Science, Information Systems’, ‘Computer Science, Software Engineering’, ‘Psychology, Social’ and, ‘Chemistry, Physical’. The results of the other WoS-SCs can be found online at http://crexplorer.net . An analyst of the results should keep in mind that the identification of landmark papers depends on the used methods and data. Small differences in methods and/or data may lead to other results.

BACKGROUND Informatics tools for consumers and patients are important vehicles for facilitating engagement, and the field of consumer health informatics is an key space for exploring the potential of these tools. To understand research findings in this complex and heterogeneous field, a scoping review can help not only to identify, but to bridge, the array of diverse disciplines and publication venues involved. OBJECTIVE The goal of this systematic scoping review was to characterize the extent; range; and nature of research activity in consumer health informatics, focusing on the contributing disciplines of informatics; information science; and engineering. METHODS Four electronic databases (Compendex, LISTA, Library Literature, and INSPEC) were searched for published studies dating from January 1, 2008, to June 1, 2015. Our inclusion criteria specified that they be English-language articles describing empirical studies focusing on consumers; relate to human health; and feature technologies designed to interact directly with consumers. Clinical applications and technologies regulated by the FDA, as well as digital tools that do not provide individualized information, were excluded. RESULTS We identified 271 studies in 63 unique journals and 22 unique conference proceedings. Sixty-five percent of these studies were found in health informatics journals; 23% in information science and library science; 15% in computer science; 4% in medicine; and 5% in other fields, ranging from engineering to education. A single journal, the Journal of Medical Internet Research, was home to 36% of the studies. Sixty-two percent of these studies relied on quantitative methods, 55% on qualitative methods, and 17% were mixed-method studies. Seventy percent of studies used no specific theoretical framework; of those that did, Social Cognitive Theory appeared the most frequently, in 16 studies. Fifty-two studies identified problems with technology adoption, acceptance, or use, 38% of these barriers being machine-centered (for example, content or computer-based), and 62% user-centered, the most frequently mentioned being attitude and motivation toward technology. One hundred and twenty-six interventional studies investigated disparities or heterogeneity in treatment effects in specific populations. The most frequent disparity investigated was gender (13 studies), followed closely by race/ethnicity (11). Half the studies focused on a specific diagnosis, most commonly diabetes and cancer; 30% focused on a health behavior, usually information-seeking. Gaps were found in reporting of study design, with only 46% of studies reporting on specific methodological details. Missing details were response rates, since 59% of survey studies did not provide them; and participant retention rates, since 53% of interventional studies did not provide this information. Participant demographics were usually not reported beyond gender and age. Only 17% studies informed the reader of their theoretical basis, and only 4 studies focused on theory at the group, network, organizational or ecological levels—the majority being either health behavior or interpersonal theories. Finally, of the 131 studies describing the design of a new technology, 81% did not involve either patients or consumers in their design. In fact, while consumer and patient were necessarily core concepts in this literature, these terms were often used interchangeably. The research literature of consumer health informatics at present is scattered across research fields; only 49% of studies from these disciplines is indexed by MEDLINE and studies in computer science are siloed in a user interface that makes exploration of that literature difficult. CONCLUSIONS Few studies analyzed in this scoping review were based in theory, and very little was presented in this literature about the life context, motives for technology use, and personal characteristics of study participants.

In this paper, we present the Web-based CALL environment (or WALL) which is currently being experimented with at the University of Paris 13 in the Computer Science Department of the Institut Universitaire de Technologie. Our environment is being developed to teach computer science (CS) English to CS French-speaking students, and will be extended to other languages for specific purposes such as, for example, English or French for banking, law, economics or medicine, where on-line resources are available.English, and more precisely CS English is, for our students, a necessary tool, and not an object of study. The learning activities must therefore stimulate the students' interest and reflection about language phenomena. Our pedagogical objective, relying on research acquisition (Wokusch 1997) consists in linking various texts together with other documents, such as different types of dictionaries or other types of texts, so that knowledge can be acquired using various appropriate contexts.Language teachers are not supposed to be experts in fields such as computer sciences or economics. We aim at helping them to make use of the authentic documents that are related to the subject area in which they teach English. As shown in Foucou and Kübler (1998) the wide range of resources available on the Web can be processed to obtain corpora, i.e. teaching material. Our Web-based environment therefore provides teachers with a series of tools which enable them to access information about the selected specialist subject, select appropriate specialised texts, produce various types of learning activities and evaluate students' progress.Commonly used textbooks Tor specialised English offer a wide range of learning activities, but they are based on documents that very quickly become obsolete, and that are sometimes widely modified. Moreover, they are not adaptable to the various levels of language of the students. From the students' point of view, working on obsolete texts that are either too easy or too difficult can quickly become demotivating, not to say boring.In the next section, we present the general architecture of the teaching/learning environment; the method of accessing and using it, for teachers as well as for students, is then described. The following section deals with the actual production of exercises and their limits. We conclude and present some possible research directions.

Due to the increasing popularity of new research in medicine thisstudy was conducted to determine recent research trends of predictive, preventive and personalized medicine (PPM). We identified the terms relevant to PPM using own search engine based on neural network processing in PubMed database. We extracted initially about 15000 articles. Then we carried out the statistical analysis for identifying research trends. The article presents the results of solving the problem of evaluating research topics at the level of thematic clusters in a separate subject area. An approach based on the analysis of article titles has been implemented. Identification of terms, connections between them and thematic clustering were carried out using the free software VOSViewer, which allows to extract terms in the form of noun phrases, as well as to cluster them.

Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar as características das publicações sobre Knowledge management (Gestão do conhecimento) e Innovation management (Gestão da inovação) na base de dados Web of Science, no período de 1945 a 2015. O trabalho descritivo e quantitativo, de natureza bibliométrica, busca levantar as características da produção acadêmica. Como principal resultado das 372 publicações analisadas constatou-se que os anos com maior publicação foram os de 2008 e 2015, em especial nas seguintes áreas temáticas: Business economics (Economia Empresarial), Operations research management science (Gestão de Operações), Engineering (Engenharias), Computer science (Ciência da Computação), Information science library science (Ciência da informação/biblioteconomia), Social science (Ciências Sociais). Os documentos são 66,6% proceedings paper, e o principal titulo é o International journal of technology management. Os países com maior número de produção são a China e os Estados Unidos, e o principal idioma é a língua inglesa.

Abstract Background Akkermansia muciniphila is an anaerobic bacterium residing in the healthy intestinal tract of host and its quantity has a negative correlation with various host diseases. This study for the first time provides a holistic bibliometric aspect of Akkermansi muciniphila research in the literature and shows the hot topic terms of these articles in any period of time. Methods Scopus database was selected to retrieve documents relevant to Akkermansia muciniphila in any language up to 2019. The bibliometric profile of Akkermansia muciniphila articles including subject area, year distribution, citations, institutions, journals, authors, and countries was systematically characterized and the collaboration networks of authors and countries as well as the burst detection algorithm of the words in the titles, abstracts and keywords were visualized. Results There is a progressive growing trend in research on Akkermansia from 2004 to 2019 with a total of 566 articles during this period. Out of 353 original articles, there are 194 animal studies (155 studies on mice) and 112 human studies. Also, 65 various diseases were investigated in these studies. The most focused conditions are obesity (71 articles) and type2 diabetes (39 articles). The United States is the leading country on Akkermansia publications (n = 132), followed by China (n = 95). Frontiers in Microbiology is the most dominant journal with 23 Akkermansia publications. In addition, “cancer” is the hot topic of recent Akkermansia research. Conclusion Akkermansia research is of progressive interest during the last decade and the studies on this subject move towards its relationship with cancer and its promising effect on health.

Research trends are dynamic, changing from time to time. It is an indicator of the latest innovations in each field of research, current areas of research, the latest technologies, and developments in each field of research. It also helps with future innovations and developments by providing current challenges and opportunities. This article proposes an efficient method to find research trends in each field of research of any subject area by using the graph-based subject classification of published papers. This methodology can be efficiently used to find research trends at any point of time, based on the published year of academic publications. A study of change in research trends in three subject areas - physics, mathematics, and computer science have been successfully conducted based on a total of 4500 publications since 2004.

<b><i>Background:</i></b> Pallidotomy is the oldest stereotactically performed neurosurgical procedure for movement disorders. Consequently, there is a wealth of literature available on the topic. <b><i>Objectives:</i></b> The aim of this analysis was to identify the top-cited articles on pallidotomy in order to discern the origins, spread, the current trends, and the future directions of this surgical procedure. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> We performed a search of the Web of Science database on 19 October 2020 using the keyword “pallidotomy.” The top-100 cited articles found were arranged in descending order on the basis of citation count (CC) and citation per year (CY). Relevant conclusions were derived. <b><i>Results:</i></b> The 100 top-cited articles were published between 1961 and 2017, in 24 journals. The average CC and CY were 118.1 (range – 856–46) and 5.326 (range – 29.52–2.09), respectively. The 3 most prolific authors were Lang AE (Neurologist – Toronto), Lozano AM (Neurosurgeon – Toronto), and Vitek JL (Neurologist – Atlanta). The Journal of Neurosurgery published the highest number of top-cited articles [Neurology. 1960;10:61–9]. The maximum articles were from the USA. University of Toronto and Emory University were the most productive institutions. <b><i>Conclusions:</i></b> Pallidotomy has gone through several ebbs and flows. Unilateral pallidotomy is currently recommended for the treatment of motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and dystonia. The need for further research and improved technology to make the technique safer and prove its efficacy is highlighted, especially keeping in mind a large number of populations to which the prohibitively expensive deep brain stimulation is unavailable.
