A study on the misconceptions developed or held by teachers related to the two terms valence and valency was undertaken. A total of 48 teachers (26 males and 22 females) teaching the chemistry component of science subject to 14- to 16-year-old students, in 48 schools affiliated to one district, were randomly selected for the study by taking one teacher from each school. One session was devoted for administering the questionnaire among the teachers and second session (with a gap of one day) was for addressing the teacher’s misconceptions. From the analysis of the responses, it was found that the two terms although they have the same meaning were misconceived as having different meanings. Due to this a misleading relationship between the two terms was discovered. Even the highest numerical value of valence was misconceived. The possible reasons for these misconceptions were identified. A simple, brief, and precise description of the concepts was presented to remove the misconceptions of the teachers.

The objectives of this study are aimed at: 1) analyzing the effect of Information Literacy Learning model on the learning outcome of eighth-grade students of Public Junior High School 2 of Kendit in Situbondo in social science subject; 2) analyzing the effect of Problem-based Learning model on the learning outcome of eighth-grade students of Public Junior High School 2 of Kendit in Situbondo in social science subject; 3) analyzing the differences in the learning outcome of eighth-grade students of Public Junior High School 2 of Kendit in Situbondo between the application of the Information Literacy Learning model and Problem-based Learning. This research is a correlational study. Based on the results of data analysis, the study has drawn several conclusions. First, there is a very significant influence, marked at 53.7%, of the Information Literacy Learning on learning outcome. Second, there is a significant effect of the Problem-based Learning on learning outcome, as evinced by a correlation magnitude of 57.7%. Third, the analysis has identified no significant difference between Information Literacy Learning and Problem-based Learning on learning outcome shows. This shows that both learning models are equally well applied to improve learning outcome.

Abstract Whiteboard animation videos are engaging learning media for Generation Z. This study aimed to develop and assess the feasibility of a whiteboard animation video for vitamin in the Nutrition Science subject for class X culinary vocational school. This study was research and development using a 4D approach (define, design, develop, disseminate). The define stage analyzed the curriculum, material, student character, learning media, and school facilities. The design stage included the writing and assessing the material, the writing and assessing of storyboards, and production team selection. The develop stage was making a video and assessing the feasibility. Animation images were created using Paint Tool Sai. Image conversion from JPEG to SVG was performed with Inkscape. The dubber’s voice was recorded with Universal Audio using the Apollo Twin audio interface and Avantone CV12 microphone. The audio was edited in Pro Tools 2020.9. To produce a whiteboard animation video, animation images, captions, dubber’s voice, and back sound were combined with VideoScribe. Videos used mpg format. In order to maintain video duration below 10 minutes, the video was divided into two parts. The assessment of video feasibility was carried out by one media expert and two content experts. The assessment of feasibility at the disseminate stage was carried out to 30 users. Based on the feasibility assessment, this video was very suitable to be applied as a learning medium.

This study aimed to produce scientific literacy instruments containing ethnoscience for grade IV elementary school on science subject theme number 9 "Kayanya Negeriku" which is valid, reliable, feasible, and practical. This research method used R&D research with ADDIE research design (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The steps developed include design, expert validation, small-scale trials, and large-scale trials. The instrument developed is a reasoned multiple choice instrument. The data collection technique in this development research was a test (multiple choice) and a practicality questionnaire. The results of the validation of scientific literacy instruments containing ethnoscience are valid, the reliability value during small-scale trials was 0.671 and when large-scale trials were 0.711 these values indicate the instrument is reliable. The differentiating power of small-scale questions obtained 20 multiple-choice questions for grade IV elementary school, there were 10 items received, 2 items were accepted but needed to be corrected, and 8 items were corrected. The analysis of large-scale discrepancy from 20 questions contained 11 items for the criteria for the items to be accepted, 3 items were accepted but needed to be corrected, and 6 items were corrected. Testing results of the difficulty level gained the results of quantitative analysis on a small scale for the level of difficulty of the questions stated that, as many as 2 questions with easy criteria, 13 questions with medium criteria and 5 questions with difficult criteria. While the results of quantitative analysis on a large scale for the level of difficulty of the questions stated that, as many as 3 items with difficult criteria, 17 questions with moderate criteria and for easy criteria were not found in large-scale trials. The practicality of the instrument can be decided based on the percentage of practicality. The percentage obtained from the teacher's assessment is in very practical criteria. Keywords: Development, Instrument, Science Literacy, Ethnoscience.
