The designers of this project have taken an approach similar to that of an Eszterházy novel: travelling through a multifaceted history of spaces from point of view to point of view. This might be an act of fantasy or irony resulting in a restoration of neobaroque elements, insertion of contemporary interventions, resulting in maintaining the original acoustic quality of the concert hall and improved non-performance circulation areas: foyer, stairwells and corridors which now create a new sequential flow throughout the building complex.

In recent years, a frequently discussed problem is the guideline of training on the educational result and the formation of students' competence. These factors form the prerequisite for improving the quality of education. Higher educational institutions of the republic pay special attention to the question of the formation of students' competence. In order to build students' competence, the educational process should be based on a competency- based approach. The article explores the issue of the formation and development of the problem of competence in education. The development of the problem is divided into three stages. The role and significance of the competency-based approach in training is revealed, the point of view of scientists on competence is analyzed.

AbstractThis article examines the tourist role of protected areas important for their unanimated nature potential. In Poland the highest form of legal protection is a national park. Babiogórski National Parks is one of 23 national parks in Poland. The aim of this article is to present its tourist attraction based on its geotourist potential considered by tourists who visit this park. At the beginning a brief history of protection of Babia Góra is presented. Based on stock-taking sightseeing method an analysis of the most important tourist attractiveness elements (like infrastructure or tourist values) is done. The focus on the values of unanimated nature is made grouping them into four main categories. As the result of research on infrastructure the most important accommodation units were indicated present at the surroundings of this National Park which is vital for its tourist capacity. For the correct functioning of tourist movement at the protected area the supporting infrastructure is important bearing a lot of functions. The function of channeling of the tourist movement as well as the didactic function are the most important for protection and correct use of geotourist values. Among the many elements of the supporting infrastructure the most important ones are tourist and didactic routes (their course and themes are presented). The most important part of the article is the presentation of the participants of the tourist movement opinions on the Babiogórski National Park tourist attractiveness. A survey was conducted and then analysed on 308 respondents in 2011. They were asked to judge both the quality of infrastructure as well as attraction of geotourist values together with their adaptation to reception by the tourist movement. The results analysis served as a base to appraise the state and perspectives for the geotourism development in Babiogórski National Park from the point of view of the receivers of tourist product i.e. the protected area.

Like Mr. Pargellis, I am concerned with the history of business and the businessman. He has a professional pride in seeing a better job done and he proposes to put into the hands of scholars the necessary tools to improve the quality of their work. My approach is that of a businessman who is disturbed by inadequate and sometimes prejudicial use of facts and the possible effect upon the general welfare of conclusions based on misstatements. Both of us want the writing and teaching of history to be factual and fair and as thorough as possible. I have no quarrel with Mr. Pargellis' point of view or with the remedy he suggests, and I agree readily that, in so far as imperfect knowledge of American history is due to lack of access to records, the cause should be removed. I cannot but feel that general acceptance of his proposal by companies whose files have been preserved will go a considerable way toward improving the situation and I do not see what harm could come from making such reports available to scholars, provided of course that in using them consideration be given, as Mr. Pargellis says, to “the ethical and legal standards of the time, with full appreciation of the political and competitive setting in which a businessman had to work.” The availability of corporate documents certainly would tend to prevent the making of careless or misleading statements, which without the records might go unchallenged.

Adapting digitals stories in the form of historical documentaries, this chapter also provides components of digital storytelling (point of view, dramatic question, emotional content, the gift of your voice, the power of the soundtrack, economy, pacing, purpose of story, choice of content, quality of images, grammar and language usage) and necessary steps (tellable story, compositing script, choosing visual and audio components, preparing digital stories, presenting digitals stories) that are to be taken into consideration while preparing digital stories.

The history of 20th-century music can be seen as a series of more or less unsuccessful answers to—or evasions of—insoluble problems (due, in part, to the relative poverty of living musical traditions outside the concert hall and the felt inadequacy inside). From this point of view, it would be instructive for composers who are looking for new answers to build on the work of a figure like Matyas Seiber, who sought to master all the forms of music around him, to balance one with another and thus to open the way to new forms.

Abstract The purpose of this paper was to review literature covering the topic of site index with particular emphasis on Scots pine, the most important forest-forming species in Poland. We discuss the history of the site index, research on various tree species, statistical modelling methods, the spatial application of site index and age impact assessment. The history of research on the site index of forest species is long and dates back to the 18th century. Many researchers thought that determining the quality of the habitat is very important from the point of view of rational forest management. The site index, as a measure of the potential of the habitat on which the forest grows, is one of the most important characteristics of forest stands. The site index depends on the selected model, but is most often expressed as the average or top height of trees of a given species at a certain age. In our review, we point out several insufficiencies of studies on the site index, external influences and the connection of the site index with spatial conditions. Furthermore, research conducted so far has not explicitly confirmed that there is a relationship between the site index of pine stands and their geographical location in Poland. More research on the site index, especially in regard with climate change, is needed.

This paper looks at the collection of articles entitled Voices of Russian Philology from Budapest, published in 2018 under the editorship of Prof. Katalin Kroу. The collection gives a recapitulation of several generations of Russian studies produced by scholars affiliated with Eцtvцs Loránd University. The book contains works on both Russian literature and language; however, the review focuses solely on the papers dealing with various aspects of the history of Russian literature covering a large period from Pushkin to Ulitskaya. The reviewer points out a significant thematic diversity of the reviewed papers: some authors elaborate on rather conventional topics (such as Vladimir Solovyov’s historical philosophy, autobiographic elements in Herzen’s prose, poetics of detail in Chekhov’s works, etc.), while others develop relatively new issues. Some articles are of interest from the methodological point of view. The quality of articles collected in this volume proves that despite the fact that the Russian language no longer retains its status in contemporary Hungary, Russian studies still keep a high profile.

With the intention of designing architecture for music and inspired by music, the J.C. Martins Concert Hall was created with 1008 seats and an approximate volume of 49400 ft³. Among all the architectural aspects considered, such as strategic location analyzed from the mass plan, study of volumetries, acoustics is the highlight due to its importance and complexity of the project. The Concert Hall is the object of the present study, the purpose of the article is to compare the simulated results in the EASE software with the analytical results of the reverberation time calculated by the Sabine and Eyering equations for the Concert Hall. Acoustic parameters such as reverberation time, clarity, among others, were simulated to verify the acoustic quality of the room in question. With that, it was possible to analyze and discuss the limitations of the analytical method and the simulations. Even so, the results were satisfactory to reach the adequated indexes of the acoustic parameters.

This article addresses the topic of environmental comfort from a salutogenic and pedagogical point of view. It begins by presenting a wide framework aimed at describing the complexity and specificity of the acoustic issue and the need to integrate decibel-based metrics with knowledge and reflections which are inherent to non-measurable factors. The article then focuses its attention on educational spaces and presents the results of an investigation carried out in 52 classrooms of 19 primary schools in Florence. From this research and keeping in mind the current Italian legislation, the following results are deduced: (1) the layout of a typical classroom, (2) the average reverberation time and (3) the sound-absorbing surface required to improve the acoustic quality of the typical classroom with polystyrene fibre panels. Subsequently, after having briefly described the more appropriate typology of sound-absorbing solutions, a system for the acoustic correction of classrooms is presented. This system is composed of two parts. The first part is fixed and its realisation is entrusted to specialised personnel; the second, based on the concept of personalisation and transformation of the educational space, is modifiable through time and designed and applied by the students themselves.
