This assessment of societal readiness and resilience to water-related situations in the Czech Republic focuses on an interdisciplinary approach in the Czech Republic for solving this problem. The goal of the article is to evaluate and characterize the preparedness for handling water-related crises. The analysis is carried out via a SWOT analysis, which is a universal analytical method used to understand and interpret strengths and weaknesses and to identify opportunities and threats. For the calculation of the weight factor of the SWOT analysis, an assessment was determined based on the multicriteria analysis. The pair comparison method was used to determine the relative importance of the parameters of the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The Fuller Triangle method was chosen for the system used to make the comparisons of the individual criteria. The uniqueness of the study consists of the issue of water management, which is thus reflected from a non-traditional perspective, being a contemporary model—the paradigm of the view on the preparedness of the planning documentation as one of the characteristics of societal resilience for water-related crises. The result of the research is the fact that a positive approach prevails in the researched area from the perspective of preparedness for water-related crises. For the creation of the conditions, the factors arising from the internal environment currently prevail slightly over those arising from the external environment.

Research background: To conduct the research, we used data from two surveys conducted in the Czech Republic before the outbreak of the Covid crisis and after the full wave of the crisis. The research focused on the behaviour of entrepreneurs in the field of finance and planning. Statistical methods for data processing suitable for obtaining relevant results were used. Purpose of the article: The paper aims to map the behaviour of entrepreneurs in relation to their business. During business, the entrepreneur decides on the direction of the company and its relationship to the external and the internal environment, which forms the overall image of the company. Drawing on internal and external resources is a very complex decision-making process and is a key element for many companies and entrepreneurs during the Covid 19 pandemic, either in the development of the company or in its existence as such. Methods: The research was conducted in two periods, before the emergence of the COVID - 19 virus, i.e., in the autumn of 2018 and after the first wave of the covid crisis (autumn 2020). They were attended by 488 respondents from all over the Czech Republic. Correlation and square tests were used to evaluate the results. For some statements, a change was demonstrated for some, the hiding of respondents did not change. Finally, research was carried out on reinvestment activities in the addressed companies. Findings & Value added: The results suggest that certain behaviours of entrepreneurs have changed, but there are aspects where the change has occurred but is not statistically significant. All aspects create an overall picture of the behaviour of entrepreneurs, which must be quickly adjusted to the current situation, because without constant adaptation to the environment, the company will not have a long life.

Concrete is a relatively new structural material, hence the remediation of concrete structures is very rare. There are a lot of concrete fortifications in the Czech Republic, which were built just before WW2. These bunkers formed a long defensive line along the Czechoslovak borders as a protection against Hitler’s army. Today, after 80 years, many of the bunkers are listed as Czech national technical monuments with a strict protection of their historical authenticity. The article describes the technical survey and the possible conservation method of a selected concrete fortification, which exhibits a number of moisture related problems. The studied two-storey, heavily fortified bunker is situated close to the northern border of the Czech Republic, former Czechoslovakia. A detailed survey of the building includes the analysis of the interior environment parameters and laboratory testing of the used concrete. A long-term diagnosis identified the main problem, which lies in the inhomogeneity of the used concrete and the relating massive water ingress. However, the monitored bunker currently does not serve as a military structure and, therefore, a simple solution to improve the internal environment was suggested on the basis of the conducted measurements. With respect to the main causes of failures, the authors suggested a conservation method based on using a crystallizing coating. The suitability of the method was first verified under laboratory conditions and then also on the real bunker.

A change can be seen in the focusing of managers towards the increase of business competitiveness in the different conditions in the internal environment. The paper is a part of solution of the research plan of the FBE MUAF in Brno, no.
