Knowledge has been recognized as a valuable resource for organizational activities. As businesses are entering the world of Web 2.0, knowledge sharing is widely regarded as a critical issue in the area of organizational knowledge management (KM). Recently, organizations have started adopting blog-based knowledge management systems (KMS) with encouraging results. Used as a tool for sharing organizational knowledge, blogging can aggregate the intellectual power of individual members, serve as innovative KMS, and lead to the creation of a trust-based corporate culture. However, despite the increasing adoption of blogs by organizations, a theoretical framework for understanding a blog-based KMS has not been developed. This chapter attempts to present a framework for understanding a blog-based KMS in an organizational setting, grounded in a socio-psychological approach and the application of social identity and symbolic interaction theories.

Purpose. The aim of the article is an analysis of the cross-cultural characteristics and differences of the American, European and Asian TNC knowledge management systems and their comparison with the respective corporate cultures. Methodology of research. The methodological basis of the article is the methods and forms of scientific knowledge adopted in national science, such as: systematic approaches, methods of comparison and synthesis, methods of abstract logical evaluation, methods of detail, empirical methods, expert assessments, etc. In particular, the main methods used in writing this article are: the observation method (when analyzing the activities of American, European, and Asian TNCs); methods of grouping and generalization (when distinguishing cross-cultural features of knowledge management TNC); methods of detail (in determining the specific characteristics of each of the proposed models). Findings. The cross-cultural characteristics and differences of the American, European and Asian TNC knowledge systems are highlighted and characterized. It is determined that the European approach to knowledge management developed in the Scandinavian peninsula, mainly in Sweden; at the same time, the Japanese approach was developed thanks to the works of such scientists as I. Nonaka and H. Takeuchi, who put forward the idea of a lack of knowledge for business development; The US approach aims at analyzing TNC activity and highlighting multilevel approaches to US development. It is proved that the creation of knowledge, regardless of the features of cross-cultural models of US companies, is the result of four processes that form a spiral of knowledge: socialization, combinations, externalization and internalization, and describe the transformation of knowledge between two forms: explicit and implicit. The peculiarities of the Ukrainian corporate culture are found to be: compassion for the losers, voluntary self-restraint of comfort, approval of collective efforts in work, attentive attitude to individualism, to achieving their own well-being at the expense of others; promotion and encouragement of employees based on their personal loyalty to the organization; transparency of decisions, secrecy, closeness of the organization to the outside world, and the existence of barriers between units. Originality. For the first time, models of cross-cultural peculiarities of the American, European and Asian TNC knowledge management systems and their impact on the formation of corporate culture have been identified and substantiated, which makes it possible to use the experience of leading TNCs in the world to improve the effectiveness of Ukrainian companies in the context of the development of the knowledge management system. Practical value. The results of the study can be used by Ukrainian companies with foreign capital to support the development of their knowledge management systems based on the successful implementation of the cross-cultural characteristics of American, European and Asian models. Key words: American system of knowledge management; European system of knowledge management; Asian system of knowledge management; cross-cultural differences; corporate culture.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the value of using a systematic literature review to develop an integrated framework for information and knowledge management systems. Design/methodology/approach First, the systematic literature review method is introduced, differentiating it from traditional literature reviews in terms of value-added and limitations. Second, this methodology is used in a research application focused on absorptive capacity internal capabilities with regard to the processes of acquisition, assimilation, transformation and exploitation. Third, an integrated framework for information and knowledge management systems is developed from this application. Findings The systematic literature review approach provides a rigor that can assist in reducing researcher bias while simultaneously enabling the definition of a precise scope of review, with a clear explanation of selection criteria with the objective to find and review all the studies that are relevant to the search definitions. As a research method, it effectively supports a qualitative, quantitative or mixed methodology. Research limitations/implications This methodology was applied to one specific area of research. Specific limitations include the availability of articles in subscribed databases and the analytical capabilities of the tools used for text mining and analytics. Originality/value This paper demonstrates the usefulness of the systematic literature review methodology in developing an integrated framework for analysis.

ABSTRACT: In an era where knowledge is increasingly seen as an organization's most valuable asset, many firms have implemented knowledge-management systems (KMS) in an effort to capture, store, and disseminate knowledge across the firm. Concerns have been raised, however, about the potential dependency of users on KMS and the related potential for decreases in knowledge acquisition and expertise development (Cole 1998; Alavi and Leidner 2001b; O'Leary 2002a). The purpose of this study, which is exploratory in nature, is to investigate whether using KMS embedded with explicit knowledge impacts novice decision makers' judgment performance and knowledge acquisition differently than using traditional reference materials (e.g., manuals, textbooks) to research and solve a problem. An experimental methodology is used to study the relative performance and explicit knowledge acquisition of 188 participants partitioned into two groups using either a KMS or traditional reference materials in problem solving. The study finds that KMS users outperform users of traditional reference materials when they have access to their respective systems/materials, but the users of traditional reference materials outperform KMS users when respective systems/materials are removed. While all users improve interpretive problem solving and encoding of definitions and rules, there are significant differences in knowledge acquisition between the two groups.
