Discrete event systems, also known as DES, are class of system that can be applied to systems having an event that occurred instantaneously and may change the state. It can also be said that a discrete event system occurs under certain conditions for a certain period because of the network that describes the process flow or sequence of events. Discrete event systems belong to class of nonlinear systems in classical algebra. Based on this situation, it is necessary to do some treatments, one of which is linearization process. In the other hand, a Max-Plus Linear system is known as a system that produces linear models. This system is a development of a discrete event system that contains synchronization when it is modeled in Max-Plus Algebra. This paper discusses the production system model in manufacturing industries where the model pays the attention into the process flow or sequence of events at each time step. In particular, Model Predictive Control (MPC) is a popular control design method used in many fields including manufacturing systems. MPC for Max-Plus-Linear Systems is used here as the approach that can be used to model the optimal input and output sequences of discrete event systems. The main advantage of MPC is its ability to provide certain constraints on the input and output control signals. While deciding the optimal control value, a cost criterion is minimized by determining the optimal time in the production system that modeled as a Max-Plus Linear (MPL) system. A numerical experiment is performed in the end of this paper for tracking control purposes of a production system. The results were good that is the controlled system showed a good performance.

The Job Shop Parallel Machine Scheduling (JSPMS) is a hybrid production system, and hence has received significant attention in the past few years. The JSPMS problem is a rationalization of the traditional job shop scheduling problem in computer science and operation research that permits to process operations on single machine out of a set of possible parallel machines. To maximize the job completion rate and minimize job completion time, a hybrid production system is necessary. With this objective, a novel meta-heuristic method is designed. This paper develops a scheduling method called, Ant Colonized and Taguchi Parallel Operation Scheduling (ACTPOS), for JSPMS, aimed to minimize job completion time and maximize job completion rate. The design of AC-TPOS method involves two different models, namely, Ant Colonized Parallel Machine Selection (ACPMS) model and Taguchi Parallel Operation Scheduling (TPOS) model. In ACPMS model, optimal selection of machine is done via operation being processed by parallel machines using local pheromone updating rule concentrating on the makespan time. In addition, the processing time and sequence-independent setup time are considered. Next, in TPOS model, optimal scheduling of operation is performed using Taguchi method concentrating on the makespan rate. Finally, the test results first show that our algorithm outperforms existing methods in terms of job completion rate, job completion time and computational complexity involved in scheduling operations.

PT. Ching Luh Indonesia is a company engaged in the manufacturing industry that produces sports shoes with well-known global brands, with annual revenues of more than US $ 1 billion, and has 8,000 workers. PT. Ching Luh Indonesia is a company that is responsive to technological advances and pays great attention to the comfort of employees in working, especially in the Laboratory section. In that section, the bonding checking process on the shoe samples currently still uses direct checking without any time reference in each sample. This is considered less effective because it makes the addition of the remaining sample for the next shift. This study aims to determine the standard time of each shoe sample variant and to determine the number of samples received by each operator. From the research results using the calculation of the standard time can be determined the standard time of each variant of the shoe sample, so it can also be determined the number of samples received for each operator. By determining the standard time for each shoe sample, it is expected that each operator can complete each sample according to the predetermined standard time, so that the specified target can be achieved.. Keywords: Standard Time, Bonding, Shoe Samples, Laboratory, Operator

Generally the measurement of standard time is only based on how many product units are produced per unit of time, without regard to the movements carried out by the operator. The movements carried out by the operator in completing the work are very necessary to be evaluated, considering that many of the movements of the operator that are not effective will slow down the completion time of the work, which in turn affects the product output. Movement study is an analysis carried out on several movements of the worker's body in completing work. Through the study of motion the standard time can already be determined by synthesizing the standard times of the parts that have been labeled. Based on the standard time calculation of the results of the motion study, it was obtained the results of 25,988 bowl component units and 84,485 APP lid box components. If 25% of the available time is cut off by the needs of the operator, namely the provision of adjustment factors and the allowance factor for operators of the target of 10,000 APP box units, it is still very possible.

This paper evaluated the energy and emergy characters and indicators of the protected grape production system in the five major producing areas in China based on the emergy analysis. The research results indicate that the total emergy input in the Northwest region is the largest. The protected cultivation in all the five regions is heavily dependent on the purchased resource and nonrenewable resource emergy. The Southwest region is found to have the lowest environmental pressure and the highest sustainability.
