This paper is based on the importance of knowledge sharing to create innovation in an organization to overcome the problem of PTPN competition with the private sector. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge sharing variables, which are tacit knowledge sharing and explicit knowledge sharing, on innovation variables, which are speed innovation and quality innovation. The data collection method used a questionnaire with a sample of 100 employees and data were analyzed using canonical correlation analysis. The results of the study showed that there was an influence on each variable. Explicit knowledge sharing had influence on the speed and quality of innovation and explicit knowledge sharing had influence on the speed and quality of innovation. Conclusions from this study were that both variables had a strong relationship, so companies can consider these variables in strategic planning.

Knowledge sharing is one important activity in knowledge management. It enables knowledge to be created, as well as acquired and used by others. However, there are reasons to believe that employees are reluctant to share knowledge with their colleagues. Thus, in order to ensure the success of knowledge management effort, knowledge sharing among employees must be encouraged. Though studies had shown that there are many factors that might affect knowledge sharing behaviour, this paper aims at exploring the relationship between organizational commitment and knowledge sharing behaviour. Regression analysis on data gathered from a sample of 114 R&D employees’ indicated that affective commitment and normative commitment were significant predictors of tacit knowledge sharing. Additionally, explicit knowledge sharing was significantly and positively predicted by affective commitment. Implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research are highlighted.

Knowledge is the core resource, so organizations are now attempting to manage it in more efficient and systematic way. Knowledge sharing plays a very important role in the successful development of software. Knowledge sharing in distributed agile team is helpful in achieving the goals like better quality of products delivered on time and at lower cost. Our research analyzes the knowledge sharing practices in distributed environment and found the best implicit and explicit knowledge sharing practices.

Tacit knowledge sharing is an essential intellectual capital for frontline employees in hotel enterprises. While the relationship of knowledge sharing with team culture (TC) and innovative work behavior (IWB) was investigated in the extant literature, little is known about the extent to which tacit knowledge sharing affects TC and IWB. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to investigate the role of tacit knowledge sharing in the relationship between TC and IWB. For this purpose, data were gathered from 360 department managers of Turkish 4–5 star hotels. The results were analyzed utilizing Smart PLS 3 using bootstrapping to determine the level of significance of the relationships between tacit knowledge sharing, TC and IWB. The results show statistically significant relationships between tacit knowledge sharing, TC and IWB. Moreover, tacit knowledge sharing has a mediating role in the relationship between team culture and innovative work behavior.

The nexus between academic performance, nutrition and eating habit is globally recognized to the extent that it has inspired various strategies such as ‘school feeding programmes’ in many nations including Nigeria. This correlational study was aimed to evaluate the relationship between the eating habits of primary school pupils and their academic performance, using a survey design. Fifty pupils in two intact classes from two schools in rural areas, formed the sample. Data was collected using interviewer-questionnaire, coupled with naturalistic observation, for the eating habits and their results from the term’s examination done within the same periodin the schools. The data was analyzed using SPSS – 23 to determine the correlation coefficients. The results suggest that there is strong relationship between pupils’ eating habits, in terms of frequency of feeding, quality of feeding pattern, and quality of breakfast and their academic performance. In addition, the pupils perceived that eating light breakfast enhances their attention span to learn unlike, skipping of breakfast and eating heavy breakfast. The results of this study provide empirical evidence which can be used to encourage parents in rural areas to provide adequate nutrition for their wards/children to enhance their performance in school as recommended in this paper.


When SMEs are part of global value chain, the flows of information in cross-border buyer-supplier relationships which emerge from inward-outward internationalisation connections should be addressed. This study therefore investigates the learning processes of internationalising small and medium enterprises that engage in inward and outward internationalisation. Hence, this study adopts a qualitative case study approach based on ten cases of the internationalising SMEs in Malaysia. Semi-structured interviews with the Managing Directors of the selected SMEs were conducted over a two-year period. Additionally, participant observations were conducted by attending the meetings related to import-export activities and documentations were gathered for data triangulation Findings of this study highlights that the relationship with key foreign suppliers empowered case firms to connect inward to outward internationalisation through collaborative knowledge sharing. The distribution of knowledge through tacit-tacit and tacit-explicit knowledge sharing underpinned by formal planning was a prerequisite for inward-outward internationalisation connections to be established.

AbstractHypothenemus hampei is one of the main causes of the decrease in production and quality of coffee. The fenomena of this damage can be indicted by dwarfing fruit color changing to a reddish yellow, and finally the fall resulted in a decrease in the quantity and quality of production. This production loss was affected by the attack level of coffe pest. Symptoms of coffe pest attack (PBKo) can be identicated by its attacting form where PBKo can destroy both the unripe and ripe coffe. This research aims to know the relationship attacks Percentage the production loss due to the pest attack. Hypothenemus hampei Ferr. (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) in Betara subdistrict of Tanjung Jabung Barat regency. This research has been conducted in July–August 2016. This research using survey method with linear regression analysis i.e. regression between the percentage of attacks and the percentage of production loss. The attack percentage of PBKo pests in the Parit Panglong Betara village range between 8.20 – 17.76%. The percentage highest production loss results on red skin color coffee 7.11% and low on coffee colored skin green beans 3.95%. The percentage of PBKo pest attack had not showed a very strong relationship with the level of production loss. Keywords: Hypothenemus hampei, coffee AbstrakHypothenemus hampei merupakan salah satu penyebab utama penurunan produksi dan mutu kopi. Kerusakan yang ditimbulkannya berupa buah menjadi tidak berkembang, berubah warna menjadi kuning kemerahan dan akhirnya gugur mengakibatkan penurunan jumlah dan mutu hasil. Kehilangan hasil dipengaruhi oleh tingkat serangan hama penggerek buah kopi. Gejala serangan hama penggerek buah kopi (PBKo) dapat diketahui dari bentuk  serangan dimana PBKo dapat menggerek buah kopi yang masih muda sampai dengan yang masak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan Persentase serangan dengan dugaan kehilangan hasil akibat serangan hama penggerek buah kopi Hypothenemus hampei Ferr.(Coleoptera:Scolytidae) di Kecamatan Betara Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli–Agustus 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan analisis regresi linier yaitu regresi antara persentase serangan dengan persentase kehilangan hasil. Persentase serangan hama PBKo di Desa Parit Panglong Betara berkisar antara 8,20 – 17,76 %. Persentase kehilangan hasil yang tertinggi didapatkan pada kopi yang warna kulit merah 7,11 % dan terendah pada kopi  yang berwarna kulit biji hijau 3,95 %.  Persentase serangan hama PBKo tidak memperlihatkan hubungan yang kuat dengan tingkat kehilangan hasil Kata kunci : Hypothenemus hampei, kopi

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the effects of organizational rewards on two forms of knowledge sharing – explicit knowledge sharing and tacit knowledge sharing in virtual communities, and further to explore the mediating effect of intrinsic motivation on the effect of virtual community rewards on implicit knowledge sharing. Design/methodology/approach Based on relevant knowledge sharing theories, this study develops an integrated framework to explore virtual community rewards and tacit and explicit knowledge sharing in a virtual context. This study then collected data from 429 virtual community users in four virtual communities via an online survey. Hierarchical regression analyzes were used to test the proposed research model. Findings The results of this study show that virtual rewards have a significantly positive linear relationship with explicit knowledge sharing but have an inverse U-shape relationship with tacit knowledge sharing in virtual communities. In addition, intrinsic motivations including enjoyment and self-efficacy mediate the relationship between rewards and tacit knowledge sharing. Practical implications This study suggests more virtual community rewards may not always lead to more tacit knowledge sharing. Instead, too many rewards may weaken the motivation for tacit knowledge sharing. Knowledge management practitioners should make full use of the positive impact of self-efficacy and enjoyment to set up appropriate reward incentives to encourage knowledge-sharing, in particular, tacit knowledge sharing and to better manage virtual communities. Originality/value This study explores knowledge-sharing behavior in virtual communities, an important step toward more integrated knowledge-sharing theories. While online communities have become increasingly important for today’s knowledge economy, few studies have explored knowledge and knowledge sharing in a virtual context and this study helps to bridge the gap. In addition, this study develops an integrated framework to explore the mechanism through which virtual community rewards affect knowledge sharing with intrinsic motivation mediating this relationship in online communities, which further enriches the understanding on how to use virtual rewards to motivate knowledge sharing behaviors in the virtual context.

Purpose Given the important role of frugal innovation for firms in the developing and emerging countries, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of transformational leadership (TL) on frugal innovation through the mediating roles of tacit and explicit knowledge sharing. Design/methodology/approach The paper used a quantitative research method and structural equation modeling to test the relationship among the latent factors based on a sample of 339 participants from 120 Vietnamese firms. Findings Findings reveal the significant impacts of TL on aspects of frugal innovation, namely, frugal functionality, frugal cost and frugal ecosystem. Moreover, the paper highlights the mediating roles of tacit and explicit knowledge sharing (KS) in the relationship between TL and frugal innovation in terms of frugal functionality and frugal cost. Research limitations/implications To bring a deeper understanding of the benefits and important role of knowledge resources, future research should investigate the potential mediating mechanisms of knowledge management processes in the relationship between specific leadership styles and frugal innovation. Practical implications The paper provides a valuable understanding and novel approach for managers and directors of firms in developing and emerging countries to improve their firms’ frugal innovation capability through leadership practice and knowledge resources. Originality/value This study contributes to bridging research gaps in the literature and advances the insights of how TL directly and indirectly fosters frugal innovation via mediating roles of tacit and explicit KS.

Education is a factor for economic prosperity and social development in modern society. As well education allows its owner to receive a higher income and gives the opportunity for self-expression, creative fulfilment, as well as moral satisfaction from current activities. The life of educated people is not only longer, but also more interesting and informative. Moreover people with a higher level of education are happier also. In this aspect the purpose of the article is to determine the relationship between the quality of education, the degree of economic freedom, the level of income and the feeling of happiness. This paper presents results of the correlation analysis between indicators of education, income, happiness and economic freedom for 145 countries for 2018. The author of the work calculated Pearson (product-moment) correlation, the Spearman rank correlation, and Kendall’s Tau correlation in the Statistica. The analysis showed that Education Index has a strong relationship with Happiness Index, Economic Freedom of the World Index, Index of Economic Freedom and GDP. The analysis showed that education is closely related to the level of income and selfawareness of happiness. Education is also closely related to economic freedom. Also, the results of the study suggest that education not only contributes to an increase in income, but also makes persons happier.
